Thats the one thing the Death korps can't take from us.

before death korps i would say Steel legion but most armies have a role to fit. Steel legion are badass yet average joe. Death Korp are badass canon fodder. Cadians are the ULTRAMARENHS of the Guard.(meaning overused bland characters with way too much time in the limelight) Catachans are the Vietnam US marines, Vostroyans are cossacks in space. Praetorians are Zulu fighting British in space. Mordians are Prussians in space.

All regiments have a role and a place. Badass is one of those roles.

Harakoni. I don't care if they're not on the poll and haven't been referenced since the 3e Guard Codex, any planet where big-game-hunting from hang gliders is the most popular sport is the most awesome thing ever.

Steel Legion are great because they're a mechanised army of ork slayers. The models are arguably some of the best IG ones too.

Although I like the Death Korps, and have read the books about them, I still have to go with the Catachans. The Death Korp troopers are simply too suicidal, while the Catachans are completely insane bad-asses - try going into battle without your artillery and hiding in your trenches, the catachans are simply bringing the fight to the enemy, guerilla style. They're more or less hunting dragons with hang gliders.

They've still got nothing on the Elysians though.

Tanith have it in the bag. Mkoll alone could carry the entire army if they needed it, which they don't.

I like that despite the fact that the lore appears to be written so that Cadian troopers should be the default answer, they trail a distant fourth in the poll.

So....Ugly....Both Rambo himself and those darned Catachan models that were modeled after him....They had to give them the same darn face.....

Gross.....

It's all about the Chem-Dogs. Who'd they send into the crappiest place to fight on Armageddon (The Under-Hive)? The Savlar Chem-Dogs, of course.

What could make you harder than a prison world so toxic that it's barely survivable? Living with the worst humanity has to offer in a day to day struggle for survival...Will make you wish you got the privilege of struggling day to day in some silly jungle.

I mean really, the threat of going back to Savlar keeps them fighting.....I shudder to think of a fate worse than that of being an Imperial Guardsman.

That is still pretty cool, but....there's no cite in Lexicanum for where that came from. Disappoint.

Yes, and they are also named (apparently) after the Harkonen family in Dune. Nice.

Anyway, I'm for the Elysian Drop Troops. Say what you will, but dropping from nearly a 100 feet from Valkyries right into enemy territory is pretty ballsy.

I have to go with Tanith. Stealth and careful application of force. Mkoll took on a Mandrake by himself and came out without a scratch. Larkin has a record that would make Vasily Zaytsev look like a recruit and Gaunt was smart enough to kill a chaos dreadnought by boiling it when there were no heavy weapons.

There is no overkill. Only open fire and reload

Why doesnt Krieg have 100% of the votes? Nothing even comes close to their badassery and the fluff behind it. Sure, the other IG are cool in their own way but nothing comes close in to the Krieg when it comes to pure baddassery.
