You have the talent, you just need the perseverance. It definitely won't be the easy life I understand what you say about being scarred by previous experience, I'm sure you can find your way past those inner demons. Look forward to studio shots and some bright kinky beastmen.

Thanks all. Old school to the max!
I like to paint things before I show them off but I'm having trouble gaining momentum. so I've done a bit of conversion work with an orlock who I got cheap cos someone had robbed out his weapons. Also undercoated a whole load of new arrivals including the beastmen - not all of them are having guns cos they would be diffucult to do and I like the idea of having a few shields to paint. I guess some of these beastmen are just traditionalists and prefer to hit people with things because its more fun than shooting them.
In the other group theres some newer models (by newer i mean 1995-1997). redemtionist priest and imperial priest will provide spiritual encouragement. tech priest dude will fix my non-existent vehicles and the little guy is an RT medic. Actually he just looks short compared to the longer legged later models. I think maybe they get fed better, or they are just slightly different genetically because of eons of inbreeding

The 'v' needs a bit of a touch-up, but other than that looks good, my freehand's not that good with a pen, let alone a brush
The green looks a little darker than your usual, or is that just the light? Winter sucks for model photography - along with a whole bunch of other stuff obviously

Those Minis are just wonderful, is it just me or does anyone eles find the purist beauty of white undercoated models akin to The Elgin marbles, like they are statues in a long forgotten museum of 40k! the green and white works well on the Medic, and just out of curiosity , is he here to cure Ifalna's cough ;-)

Still suffering huh Ifalna. Well you can throw some of your commissions my way if they are small - but maybe you are kidding? I think your painting is better than mine still. But I get a lot of practice so maybe I will improve! Hope you feel better soon
Well spotted monkey troll the greens been washed with dark green this time instead of the usual olive green wash.

But miss dee there are no space wolves!
I wouldn't have them in my blog - not because I hate them they just don't fit in with the plan. To much In-disciplined bravado and drunkeness for my straight laced imperial army.
The chaos warband on the other hand will be real f***ing high on drugs.
I went a bit crazy this weekend - Sold a little art and had some extra cash to blow - so I brought some mutant psycic scrunts from bob olley's website - they will be my chaos squat psykers. also got one of his scrunt walkers to be a sentinel for the loyalist squats.
Then I went mad in e-bid and got some old space crusade dreads to turn into sentinels - used to do this a lot, its really easy to do - just pull off their heads and create a sort of seat out of GS and plastic bits. Then take a guards man torso and pop it in stick one of the big guns in front and wack some engine bits at the back. It looks pretty good.
Boughts some more RT mercs and squats. Followed by some escher gangers for cultists. I think I blew all of the money in one go!! good times.

Well, spending spree sounds interesting at least Scrunts sound good, and I like the sound of the space crusade sentinels. Some of the Escher stuff is great for slaanesh cults, most of mine started to get changed to guard 'swamp rats', then started switching allegiance to chaos.
It's a nice green, contrast well with the white, but personally I prefer the old green on these guys. For some reason the colour seemed old-skool to me, can't really explain it but there we go...

Are You hiding space wolves from us Weety? lurking inbetween the lines somewhere! real small like so only people with huge moniters can see them? I love that feeling you get when you know you shouldnt have spent that much money on bits of plastic and metal ( albeit venerable plastic and metal) its like weeing in a flower pot at party when drunk , so wrong but feels so right! lol I also have had a hankering to convert my old space crusade dredy into a sentinel of sorts! although i thinking more along the lines of penitent engine! will be interested to see how that goes...

I just don't like painting to someone else's colours Had a summer job when I was a youth working for a toy soldier company that sold pre-painted figures, thought it would be a dream job painting figures. Hated it. Got bored painting exactly the same thing very, very quickly. I should point out the painting just had to be neat and consistent but flat, no shading involved, which is why I could do it
Don't think I could paint a smurf-marine, shied away from doing a looted bike part on my cyborks blue, although...hmm, maybe I could paint one, no two, yes, possibly might see a couple of smurf-marines from me sometime
Maybe as a medic he's aware of all the dangers inherent in going outside, just stays in hunched over a monitor trawling through dakka...

I can really imagine that job sucking hard - Maybe its sub-concious trauma from that job preventing you from painting quickly! sorry I do love to rib. But no - definatly no, unless they paid me at least 15 an hour then maybe. They wouldn't though.
I could manage one or two ultras but then I would need a long break from blue.
I can think of all sorts of reasons for our medic to be pale and anemic looking but I think he would be more aesthetically pleasing when he is ruddier. Automatically Appended Next Post: could just be the lighting though - I will get another shot of him in daylight

Well, when I say summer job, that's probably an exagerration, I only did a few batches before jacking it. You took a buch of figures away, brought 'em back when they were done and got paid a set amount per figure. If you could do that sort of painting it would be easy to knock out some units watching tv in the evening, which is what a lot of their painters seemed to do, but couldn't get my young head round it - wasn't painting all about creativity? I got docked for a few when I gave the hands and faces a quick wash, and they had to be re-done
I think he looks the pale, worried type, but you may be right, nothing like a rosy-cheeked, healthy looking doc to cheer you up as he cuts your arm off

It'll all get done eventually! and hopefully scrunts will be on their way soon. We will se if Mr Olley is as good at prompt postage as he is at sculpting in a shed.
Heres medic looking a bitmore fresh faced. He is such a tiny model - he even looks short next to the taller squats.
And my first priest. I love these sculpts - so very very gothic. I cant quite figure out why, in the 41st millenium, would anyone with access to proper weaponry chose to use a big stick with nails in it. But maybe he took a vow or something.
"oh great emporor I pledge to thee that I will do penance for my sins by using this holy stick to beat thine enemies, with these big consecrated nails sticking out to further hurt the foe! With this great stick which representeth thy holy wood, I shall cause blunt force trauma and brusing, flesh wounds and concussion. Amen"

If you have access to a big stick with nails in, why bother looking for anything else?
The priest looks fantastic, excellent work on the face and hair, makes me think of some old punk who now serves the Emprah.

Yes! Thats the ork in you talking I'm sure. Orks love blunt force trauma...
Thanks I busted out on the priest - it is definitely true that painting the later, larger minis is easier. Rogue trader pieces sometimes are very small which makes painting tricky and have lots of little flaws and ambiguities in the sculpt which I often only notice once they are painted. Love them anyway warts and all.
The blood bowl beastmen have been stripped and stuck together so it won't be long now. Depends what I feel like painting though.
Thanks again for all the support.
