Good Lord - the resemblance is really very incredible. Priest looks great - you should do a group shot of all of these figs together so far, it must be an amazing sight.

Jebus crist!! Thats an amazing example of convergent evolution there. Or maybe the sculpter was a morrisey fan!.
Monkeytroll - jenkins the ork sounds like he's a traditionalist!!
Converted the last beastman - he came with a missing arm so I gave him a goblin one which seems to fit.

Brown? NEVER!!! well not that brown anyway. Bit of pink, probably turquoise and flame orange too. But who knows - I dont yet or I would be painting right now. I think I should start out with duller colors and work my way up.
It is the space crusade sword! Got a little pile of the old marine bits from that.
I think I should do a few large group shots. It does look good all together. But I will wait till sunup Automatically Appended Next Post: definate boobage in the beastman

hello weetyskemian44 ,
i have just surfed through your great artful blog. and all i´m able to say now is that you bring the brightness and color back to the grim darkness. love your tribute to the characterful oop models. i always wonder where you people get these fine models from. i have searched through ebay for lots of times and never truly have i found such legends...
well i recently bought me a piece: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130452712130&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
would that count as some relique from the older day`s? guess not.
i haven´t watched your blog for a long time but i will be watching it now very closly. maybe i can get me here some inspirations for my armies...
show us more of the bright side in 40k, best wishes vik

Thankyou! Everyone is so nice about it. I like that.
Update. Studio is ready. follow the link at the bottom of the post to my art page and there will be pics soon. Still no kiln but thats the only thing missing. Maybe a compressed air spray gun would be nice too. I've got to stop buying minis now and concentrate on the ceramics but dont worry I have enough unpainted to last till next spring at least.
Bob olley's wonderful scrunts arrived today. Speedy delivery and well packaged. Here are the mutant psychic scrunts and their completely mutated brothers. Also the scrunt walker which will require much assembly. I have a choice of male or female space dwarf. I will save on for another conversion project.

Those ceramic bikes look really realistic, how'd you do it? And why do you have a pair of doll's feet as mascots?

Anyway, I'm firmly of the opinion that males are ginger and females are redheads

Hey, you like The Prodigy?
'Charly says...' Big into The Prodigy from way back, I saw them in New York in, ...I think '95... great show.

Its not bad is it! Not expensive either. Its a bit dark in there right now - sorting out an extension cord today so I can out up some lights and check the wheels working. And the prodigy are great. I missed seeing them because back in the day I was reluctant to shell out for expensive tickets. I wish more bands would come to cornwall and save me the trek. I've seen aphex twin - but he lives in cornwall so no big deal. (I'm assuming everyone's heard of aphex twin but maybe he is not so famous outside of cornwall)
Monkeytroll, only two last night as I got started at ten. I thought I would see about a colour scheme for the beastmen. So here they are the little beauties:
I probably should make a bit more effort on these - highlights and freehand etc, but I just wanted to get these done as it was getting late.

"Who's that trip trapping over my bridge" i think there giving me the big red horn! celtic and viking shield look cool, the red and gold makes them seem quite mystical, although that could be your backdrop, they are nice minis are'nt they. So i ordered some old school IG orderlies , the ones with the breastplates, for the praxian guard yesterday. Your pic you posted of the Imperial Army , and your blog really fired my imagination , and i always wanted them orderlies, got my eye on some necro brat juves and an old school inquisitor, but they will have to wait l. So now i can say your Blog is truly inspirational.

you always post fully painted minis, weety. how do you do it? how many steps do you do to complete a mini? you either paint with realy thick colours so that the get finished quite qucik or what??? your colors look smooth and not thick at all so i cant understand why your so damn good and fast at the same time? where is the trick? your using one of them gimmicks of hermoine granger from hogwarts?? would be my only guess...
the current minis look really good. like mebers of the yncient pagan society^^
cheers mate, vik

Well I suppose its all about knowing exactly how long you have to wait for a layer to dry before you can go over it - I usually do two very thin coats as these dry faster and then I can slap on a slightly thicker coat. To give you an idea how long to let a thin coat dry, if you start at the top and carefully apply a thin coat then by the time you get to the bottom you can start at the top again. i will do a step by step one of these days.
Right now its time for some group shots.

as for a step by step on how you paint. cool, count me in for being glued to my desk when you do it. sound like i can really learn some good tricks in painting from you.
and your freehand looks very precise, i like it very much.

Beastmen are pretty cool, love the woven shield. I'm now regretting the fairly plain colours I used on my slaanesh beastmen, may have to re-do them as I'm playing with the idea of kick-starting them again. (Like the way you ONLY did 2, as you started late ) Group shots look nice, had to go back over your thread as I'd missed the army dude with the cap and scoped las behind the commish, don't remember him at all from back in the day ( tbh suprised I can recall much of those days, but minis seem to stick for some reason), any idea what he actually was?
Bands don't come round your way? Aren't there at least 2 festivals round your way, the Lizard (although that may not still be going) and some other one I forget the name of (but I have a mate who DJs there).
Think you need to get a kiln in quick if you're going to spend any time in the studio during winter - I take it you've not been affected by the flooding? Obviously your penthouse suite won't get wet but still...

Group shots! Excellent! The Beastmen look great, I like that woven shield.
Is is so wild to see all those classic marines together, and to know that they have been very recently and freshly painted, it really is like a time machine.

No the flooding only effects the low lying cornish - My best advice to anyone looking for a place in cornwall is - love this sea and the rivers but live at least 10 meters uphill from both! My studio is more than that high out in the hilly west.
The lizard festival was one of my favs, but I havn't looked into it since the cornish eclipse (1999). That time they fully went bankrupt and so did most of the sellers (I was working in a cafe) because the original estimates of visitors were grossly over-exaggerated.
I've seen a few bands - eatsstatic, man with no name, hallucinogen, ozrick tenticles, apollo 440, levelllers, ronny size, a plethora of cornish metal and funk bands (leftfield were ment to play but didn't). Aphex twin...
All of my friends go to download festival in donnington each year and I maintain that I cannot afford it. Maybe this next year. They always have loads of god oldschool metal and rock. (extra brownie points if you have actually heard of any of those bands I mentioned)
The studio has been cocked up by the wheel not working - all the wires look sound - so I will have to get a washing machine repair man in - its the same thing if you think about it - all it does is go round and round and round and round Automatically Appended Next Post: A time machine!!! yes. I dont remember aphex in a tank but I will be sure to check. I am glad the old aphex twin is known outside the county of cornwall
Automatically Appended Next Post: lets see other festivals around my way? well every town worth its pasties has a little mini festival (not so little in the case of penzance's mazy day gollowan festival. Maybe it is past truro and therfore not really cornish Automatically Appended Next Post: I would have done some painting ut instead I watched futurama movies and lamented my stupid pottery wheel being broken. I need an easy going electrician Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh that dude with the cap and scoped las is meant to be a scout - or a sniper - I cant uite remember either

Bummer about the wheel :( Glad you're safe and dry though
Went to the lizard once, think it was 98 but not sure (only act I can remember from that one was ADF, all my mates left a day before me as I wanted to catch the ninja tunes show, but missed it anyway ) Hectic week, I was at dance valley in Amsterdam the weekend before, came home Wednesday to grab new clothes and crap, went down to Cornwall on Thursday Good times.
Never been to download, but went a couple of times to the old Monsters of Rock, in fact think the first time I went (Maiden were headlining - as they were the second time I went ) was my first concert. Have Leftfield, Roni, Apollo and Aphex on either vinyl or Cd, probably have a few mp3s for the others somewhere.
A time machine - that's how you paint so quickly. Right where's my DeLorean ?

Saw Maiden in 2008 in New York, very inspiring, I think it may have played a role in getting me back into older cooler stuff, like 40K minis and such.
