Cool

It's a beauty.

Looked up the 'Force' rule (found it!) and you can't DtW on it, nevermind made for a great game.

EDIT: Inspired me to steal this gif off B3ta.com

One thing of note... His Hormagant that failed Leadership didn't have to leave the objective, that was a 5th edition rule of rage. Now, failing IB-Feed means no shooting, and +2 attacks on the charge.

Yeah we discussed that at the time, I was saying the above but Alex maintained we should do it as originally intended. We didn't have the Nid book to hand, and it seems fitting for the Hivemind to worry about objectives but hormies left on their own not to.

However we'll be doing it properly 6th next time, should be a good little boost for him.

I'll post more Valk pics later.

Liking the Valk base Randy! Basing is something I'm not particularly good at but you manage to pull it off well.

This is probably the most effort I ever put into one..

I always cut corners with basing but 2 years of gentle encouragement/piss-taking have slowly made me actually take time over them and step away from the Goblin Green....I still need to rebase my entire SM army.

Looks good. Quite disheveled and messy (in a good way).
The tank track and road wheel on the base could use a bit more rusting but thats more of a personal preference. It all depends on how long you want it to look like it's been sitting there.

Yes, it's the most rusted I've really painted anything too. Might go further next time.

Finished the Dropship Logo!

Here we see it where I left off, 2nd layer of basecoating..

Majority of interior detailing..

More detailing, shell casings flying out are blocked in and the motto 'We endanger species' squeezed in (a bit badly, however it is extremely small).

Pretty much finished..shell casings are detailed and highlighted twice and 'motion lines' are added..

Not bad if I say so myself..

Interior detailing..computers and such, toyed with painting Tetris or Pong on there but resisted. At the moment I'm leaning towards a green tint on the canopy but no final decisions has been made..

I've nearly finished it now and will upload some more pics soon, have stippled and weathered it a bit (not loads, it's supposed to look a bit newish)..

Do you likee?

Great work! I am glad you are on the side of 'paint the interior details with a clear canopy'. The good side. The side of God and all True and Decent People.

Battlestar huh?
That might just tempt me to name one of mine Col. Cameron Mitchell. Wouldn't know what to name the co-pilot/gunner though.

Awesome battle report! And how on earth do you make such small details like the text and casings and everything on that nose art?! Can you please be my master and teach me?

Cool idea, you could name the co pilot John Crichton so he's flying with himself...you could name it 'The Twilight Zone'

Sure just send me your bank account details and your mother's maiden name and we can get started........................

Here are the finished pics, still not overly happy with the shots..

Classic 3/4s view..

Nose shot..

Close in of same. Pilot names evident. Now I'm crossing the streams even more by referencing a 3rd Sci Fi!

Other side with some kill markings and explosive bolt warnings..

Turbine intakes, stippling was done with a sponge (and my first go at it at all) and I used Shadow Grey, Scorched Brown and Black, some Boltgun drybrushing as well.

Wing with Psi Corps symbol..

Close up..

Tail booms..

That's pretty much it, hope you like em!

I've had a quiet weekend and have managed to rebase nearly my entire SM army.. so that's pretty cool, 50% through the Lascannon and toying with the idea of painting my 2 Assassins and my RT Inquisitor too....

Try hanging a few peices of white printer paper behind/under whatever you're taking pictures of. It functions as a ghetto lightbox.

Yeah I manage this sometimes, hard to do with such a big model however. I once was holding a sheet of A4 to bounce light of an away facing daylight lamp whilst trying to take a one handed none blurry pic with my mobile...fun and games, maybe I should just bite the bullet and get a light tent...

You've done that valk proud mate!

I was betting on Spunkmeyer and Ferro as the names, but I fully approve of the mixed in extra scifi references...

They nearly were the names! But I eventually went for the BSG ones..

I do like those BSG models, I think the Adama one is poorly posed but the Tigh one is quite nice, might make a good 'Officer of the Fleet'.

I did put up a redirecty thread in the BattReps forum and it got 0 posts :(

Just gotta say matt that this blog is going mega well.
All the stuff looks great but possibly not as good as it is irl. The camera can be a harsh mistress, especially brave to show the bugstomper noseart at 4x its actual size. It is a real beaut.
Gotta game more as the last (unreported) game went kinda well. A few list tweaks and a couple more games then we should be ready for a big one. Ooooer.

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.

Thanks a lot!

I'm always ready for a big one....I can do about 3k with just IG and adding in Apoc units and formations could probably make it to 4k with just IG (I'd get to use the Shadowsword as well!).

Yes that last game was really close and really enjoyable (Alex beat me) I did start talking some pics but was too far gone to finish documenting (finished at 2ish).

I've ordered a few components to finish off those Sentinels but need some more Space Marine HKs? Got any of those laying around. Had a look at some parts shops but no luck.

Thanks to Alex my goal of completing this army soon have been delayed..

He gave me these delightful Sentinels, they have been 'Pre-loved' obviously and will need significant work to rehabilitate.

I've already snapped off a bunch of crap but they're still in need of some TLC.

I plan to convert the two with foliage to armoured canopies..I'm going to order some front plates as none have them...
