yep second demdiddydizzy here...
scale shot looks nice... and rules wise... it only counts how tall it is standing not how tall it could be standing... so if the bended legs would give the impression of a way taller mini...the former height still counts...so make them legs as you see fit!!!

Thanks guys! I'll keep the height rules in mind. I am currently adding rivets to the main hull. I'm using the pressmolded GS method I used before, using the Instant Mold for the press mold tool. It's looking pretty good, but no pics yet. I'll take some pics when I am a bit further along.
BTW, nice avatar Inspektor Vik!

Rivets!
Yay!
I used different rivet application methods. The gray ones are done using the "press mold" method, that is, I use Instant Mold to make a thin "tool" of Instant Mold, and heat up one end, and press that against the rivet I want to copy. In this case I made my own rivet from a rounded off styrene rod, cut to length, and glued to a styrene sheet. Then, when the Instant Mold tool has cooled, I take a small bit of GS, in my case "Gray Stuff" (ProCreate) and smoosh it into the rivet mold of the tool, and then press it where I want the rivet to go. It's hard to get it in just the right spot, so you will see some of the rivets are not perfectly lined up, but once they cure, you can scrape them off, and glue them in the right place.
I also tried El Vik's method of using a pin to stab a rivet made of styrene rod, in this case a hex rod, for a bolt. My rivets kept coming off the pin in the glue, and making a horrible mess. So I switched to a slightly different method, using a toothpick to apply the glue where I wanted it, and using a hobby knife to move the rivet to where the glue is. These bolt rivets are on the under side of the "pelvis" regeon of the walker. To show that the bottom plate is removable for maintanence.
I also used GS to make more "welds" along the pevis joints.
Thanks for looking!

Same technique, different method, it's all good!
It looks GREAT!
Personally, I just use the xacto blade so that I only have to stab, dip, place- for speed-riveting purposes

Thanks Vik! It's coming along, the details slow you down though. Slapping this thing up to a certain degree of done-ness went quick, but now that I have to detail stuff, it seems to be creeping by. I need to finish the detailing on the arms and legs, so I can cast them so it can stand up!
I do have ideas for the cannon holding hands, I just need to get some designs sketched.
I don't think the hands holding the cannon will be posable, just sculpted to hold the cannon and that's it. Too many pieces to make otherwise.
Thanks Vik!

Just finished reading through this gem of a thread and I must say that this is impressive stuff that you are doing here man!
On your walker. Have you thought of making it a knight titan?
I think that is closer to what it feels like to me!
I am inspired into wanting to try my hand at a knight titan now...
So many ideas so little time....

Thanks GuitaRasmus! I will see what inspiration I can get from that! I want it steampowered, so I will have to add a boiler somewhere, but that's a great start!
@SilverHayabusa - I don't know if it will be tall enough for that, but I figure with some creative converting, it would be possible. I think it would have to be around 3 inches taller than I am currently planning on.
@ Dave - Thanks! I'm planning on even more rivets, I just had to wait for those to cure. There will be many rivets all over this thing. It's exhausting! Speaking of exhaust, yep, the sentinel exhaust and the ork ones are great inspiration! Thanks! It's the "steam" part that is a little fuzzy, maybe I should look at some old trains for ideas too!

Thats okay. I just wondered if you thought that it would be big enough since I haven't seen any rules or sizing on them.
I drew a sketch of what might look good and will take a photo to post when I get home in a little bit.
Basically a large boiler (cylinder) strapped to the back of the walker about halfways down the (body) with a water intake pipe and two exaust vents.
However I also thought of what might be a cool weapon.
If the superheated steam was stored up in presure tanks to be released instead of a flamer.
... I thought that it sounded rather cool in my head...

Yeah, I have no idea actually, but I have heard that knight titans are around 8 inches tall. It could work, but like I said, it may need leg extenitions.
I would love to see the sketch. Feel free to post it here.
That would be a great weapon, and I could model it in such a way that the canisters could also be fuel storage. I don't want to limit this build to JUST steampunk, I want it to work for multiple genre to appeal to a wider market.
It does sound rather cool.

Well, your walker will have energy weapons of some kind right? So it is safe to assume they have some sort of small, contained power/heat source (I think you have the freedom to flubb this a bit). If not, then I guess it needs a tender and a guy shoveling coal into a fire

I think that it should be a small fusion reactor producing the heat and high power that is required to run the walker and weapons.

i think you´d be on safe ground if you go more for a dieselpunk theme... thus you wouldn´t need to waste too much room for all those boilers and such things... cumbustion is way more effective.... soemthing then like zinge did with his V8 engine would be sufficient on the back i think...
the arm and joints look very good...could you show us the inside of the shoulder joint tho? where the small ball of the body will have to fit in? would love to see that!

I like that look (needs more rivets though), but I guess if they had fusion batteries, they wouldn't need steam power eh? When do you cross the line and it is no longer Steampunk? I dunno.
Maybe we are overthinking it, and you just need to go with the rule of cool?

Well if you look at Ford late 50's design that was brought up in your thread Dave... (Yea.. I'm still prowd that I read these all the way through...) It was fusion powered to creat the heat. The car itself was steam powered...

Silver! I like that sketch very much! It gives me so many ideas! I think I will use a combination of that and the shiney boiler that dave posted. Also need a whistle!
And yeah, having a fusion heat sourse doesn't mean you have the means of using the power for electrical purposes. Unless you're using steam to run a generator, which would work too.
but I want to concentrate on this thing making a lot of pressure to run the pistons and such, but will also need some elecrical power. I'll just say the fly-wheels and generators are in the massive shoulders.
Lots of pipes and hoses running from the boiler to the hull.
Thanks Bigfish!
