Damn. Nice casting! Are you planning to use this method to make massive “hive world” towers? Would love to see that!

Exactly LLiu! I felt the city didn’t have enough futuristics elements to it. With the addition of these “towers” I think the whole city is going to get a bit taller and get that more futuristic feel, but I’m afraid the damage it may cause to be able to reach areas.

The main hab is going to replace the blown up forge world building and Because that area is raised to the walkway levels that hab will probaly be taller than the cathedral.

But to answer Al’s question or more so to really help me put this on paper, I think there will be 4 hab towers:

Hab 1 - will be open backed like a lot of the other buildings, 4 panels wide and 5 stories tall

Hab 2 - will be 6-7 stories high, just an octagon and connected directly to hab 1.

Hab 3 - will be 1 extra panel wide in addition to the octagon mold and only 4 stories but it will be on risers and straddle the raised road in the other side of the canal. The hab will connect to hab 1 via a closed bridge

Hab 4 - will be 4 for stories again and will also be on risers to allow the monorail to pass through it. This will be next to the space port

Here are some better pictures of the detail I’m getting

First, the obligatory Aliens reference:

“STAY AWAY FROM HER YOU B!+€# !”

Now I need advice. I finally got better casts of the power lifter sentinel arm and am going to work on my mechs some more. I need to know:

1. Should I change the current design with no hands and the flamer/chain sword directly attached to the arms to something else that incorporates the pinchers?

2. If so, how? Should they be attached to the arms?

3. Or should I make a large flamer to be held and a chainsword bayonet? Maybe the gun could attach directly to the left arm and the right could have the pincher?

Holy Terra.

I have a few suggestions:
I think the sentinels look better with only the flamer/chainsword, or the pincers. That way you have two different patterns of mech, one for heavy lifting and one for demolitions or welding.

As for the hab blocks, if you add a couple of pegs to a couple of sides then you can remove them and re-stack them during the battle. And even have an interior, if you wanted.

Good ideas Ember,

I was already planning on havin 2 of the 4 towers open on the back so they could be played in but stacking the other 2 with magnets or a stronger support wouldn’t be too much more work. I will however need to find some good futuristic apartment or office furniture like beds, tables, showers, etc. anyone have any good recommendations for hero scale stuff like that?

I also got a fix for the shallowness of the base poors. There’s an automotive silicone adhesive called “great stuff” that actually sticks to silicone molds (only thing I’ve ever heard of. Hot glu will not work). You can use it to patch mold tears, hole and even in my case and a 1/4” pool for the ressin

Still working full speed ahead on the hab towers and hope to get a Test building up this weekend. Just need to figure out what I want to use as a base for each level and how to space them. As always I made a few mistakes and wasted a lot of product on my last roof panel mold by pouring while I was short on supply and didn’t know of it was enough. So like I always say you’re never going to be as efficient as the real re-casters or get that much more value by making your own product. Specially if you’re an amateur like me because there’s so many Miss casts, wasted product or a lot of Ruined product. Anyway I guess it’sTime to get more silicone!

I was cruising the Internet and I found something pretty cool that I thought might help expand the skyline of my city fight table. Meet the beginning’s of my Warhammer 40,000 Zeppelin. The picture below isn’t mine but from a company called burn in designs. I ordered the largest one but asked them to swap propellers for me. I plan to hopefully make my own cabin or at least significantly alter theirs. The plan is to have it a fixed feature of the table and tie it to the ceiling.

Thanks!

What comes next is starting to put these darn hab units together. Like all ressin and forge world stuff these are going to need a lot of finesse. Including using my heat gun, grinding, sanding and eventually green stuff (but the whole board needs a lot of that). Like I said before I’ll need to make a level or sub floor for each story to rest on. This will help support it and start hopefully getting things closer to level.

Here’s the layout for the top floor (5th) large open back hab1. I also put a place holder hab 2 behind it to show the height difference (as that ones slimmer and taller)and how they will connect/line up.

I do need some advice on the spacing of the levels though. Do you guys like

A. Using the roof pieces on the bottom as well as the top, plus a spacer in between each?

B. Using the roof pieces on the bottom as well as the top, but no spacer in between?

C. No extra upside down roof piece and a spacer

I think I’ll avoid D. Just stacking them without each level having a roof. I want to get more dimensions

I'd say B, but if you're planning more towers you could use A and C to give them a slightly different look. Amazing to see your progress, and the zeppelin!

Thank you gentlemen. Great advice all around and I will go with B. I’ll also think I’ll try to make a smaller mold for the upside down roof bits so I don’t waste to much more ressin. It knowing my I’ll probaly just waste a bunch of silicone.

Also thinking a lot about the layout and floor. The multiple floor panels are going to be hard to get level. I might just try floreatent light panels again.

For this Big hab, do you think I should divide it up internally with multiple small apartments? I was thinking the wide space doesn’t make a ton of sense for most residents. Maybe I’ll have a hallway with an elevator the goes up to it. The the tunnels/bridges that go off from it will go to single units? That probaly doesn’t make sense to anyone else.

Lastly. These pieces look really cool the way they come but for playability wouldn’t be better if they had open windows or balconies? Thinking about adding a few. Thoughts?

I’d go B also. But instead of making another mold, use some clear acrylic sheets to fill between the two levels and then rig a LED light between to give a glow between the floors of the building.

I’d skip the windows, but I hate painting internals of anything, as the future city close to a factory and a grim dark river probably wouldn’t have a nice view anyways.

Check out what the wifey just supposed me with from part of her bonus.

So cool and something I never would have purchased for myself. And guess what I’m going to do with it? Build it normal and paint it. No mods, no casting, no only use half the parts and scratch build something else. No, I’m just going to build and paint the stupid model like a normal human. The ultimate goal is still to see how much the city can dwarf this thing!

@thoephony - Aren’t you the same person who suggested the space port needed landing lights? I’m might be crazy and biting off way more than I can chew but... I don’t think I’m going to get into much lighting. Very very cool idea though. Very Beijing future but I don’t really know enough about that stuff

Lighting is pretty easy. It all depends on how big the lights are.

The votes have it and we went with option B for habs 1&2 at least.

Here’s the start of it in its new home

Kirkee wasn’t as pissed as I thought he’s be at my recommendation to tear down our very first structure and replace it with this large hab tower.

I even got him to make some progress on one of the front buildings. He’s using one of the ruin pieces for the top. Will probaly eBay the others

You could just build the Hab tower over the ruins. In the fluff at least they constantly mention that cities are built over top of ruins. Kinda like a mini underhive.

It’s 1 of I believe 4 ruined buildings forgeworld used to make. I had all 4 but chopped one up a bunch to make casts to make the building you see above.

Here are the other 2 which I probably won’t use on this board and just sell
