How goes it? I think I skipped this thread before posting, as I get a bit trigger happy, as any Dark Eldar player gets.
My name is Derek (Last name with-held), and have been playing since third edition (40K). Its definately the kind of hobby that has been defining who I am for a long time, that being a complete and utter nerd. But for this, I hold no shame to. A for work, Im a Navy Seabee Steelworker (Welder, Re-bar-tists *My own little name for it. Its rebar. There is no glamour to it*) The hobby itself has kept me out of trouble, but lets start with the roots...
Now I dont mean to write a book here, but everyone remembers their first dice roll, right? I played Chaos when I first started, thought I had one awesome army when I was 13 (Consisting of 7 marines in bad shape, and a chaos lord that I bought at a yard sale for 3 bucks). From there I escalated to Tau, having at least 3 squads of Fire Warriors, 2 Crisis Battle Suits, and a Hammer Head. These were sold.... All in all, I've played everything save for Necron and SOB's, and have only really gotten into the Dark Eldar recently. I currently own at least 2500 points of Dark Eldar (I would have more, but I got married and of course, she gives me a price limit of 30 bucks a month on my WH escapades). However, I'm breaking that, for once SOB's are ready to re-emerge from GW, she wants to learn to play (Geek wife, and loving it.)
Other hobbies include: Most online MMO's, Axis and Allies (Every other weekend, a case of beer, til sun-up), and Writing. Working on a Fan-fic DE book, which stars the Succubus Amyle Lythel (My main Succubus in my army, Lythel's Gambit).
Anyway, I am rambling now. Currently deployed: Afghanistan.
