Hi all,
I've played D&D and a touch of the Star Wars RPG over the past 3 years, which is where I first got introduced to miniature gaming. I made a few of my own terrain pieces, which is where the hobby aspect of wargaming really took hold.
A while back a close friend of mine joined us for a handful of the Star Wars RPG games and it got him talking about his long-standing love for the Space Marines novels and all 40k fluff, though he's never actually played the game. After many fluffy conversations I looked into trying 40k out, so I saved up ma teef and bought Assault on Black Reach as a college graduation present to myself.
Thus far I've only played one game against a friend who graciously used the other half of AOBR, so I'm a huge noob in that dept. But I have things well in hand on the hobby side of things, I think my first round of paintjobs went pretty well (if vanilla), if I do say so myself! I'm not a very fast painter, but I enjoy every minute of it.
After three months, the set is all painted, the rules are all read, and the SM and Orks codices purchased, and now I'm hungry to make a full-fledged army!
