i've made a googling on AEGIS defence line for a long while. the product consisted of two main parts
- Roadblock/ Blast shield/ Bremer wall. thing.. described as 'instant fortress' (i've made another thread on its background sometimes ago)
- 'Hydra' Quad FlaK emplacement

IF I intend to use blast shield as field fortifications for generic games. DO I STILL required to buy Planetstrike book first? (or alternatively, required the partner to bring one into play as a reference?)
and even IF i make a pillbox (intended to house the whole section of ten men) out of AEGIS wall thing. do I still require that book too?

=^.^=

EDIT: Supposed that NO ONE use Hydra Emplacement thing in any game.

If you want to use the Quad guns in a game then all the rules for that are described in Planetstrike. There's no reason you can't just use the defence lines as a regular barricade and use the guns as purely decorative bits of terrain in normal games though.

Thats what we do, just use the guns as shiny little nothings, I suppose one day we will acctualy use them, but untill then, zilch!

then you can say that AEGIS lines can't be used as terrain and cover without the book. right?

Terrain is terrain, use the BRB to determine its effectiveness

This.

I have the Aegis defense line, but I haven't painted it yet. For normal games, I'd use the shield walls as impassible terrain for vehicles, difficult terrain for infantry. I'd say the infantry has a 4+ cover save while behind one or more of the walls. However, I would make sure that the table is balanced by either splitting the pieces into a wall on opposite sides of the table, or put a similar terrain piece on the opposite side.

It's up to you and your opponent to decide these things, like you should with every terrain piece before the game begins.

As for the flak guns, I don't have Planet Strike, but they might be covered in that book. Addition counts as:

Imperial Guard Heavy Quad-Launcher: IA-A2
Hydra Flak-Tank: Apoc (Not sure if it will fit on a tank chasis).
Imperial Sentry Guns IA:A2
Imperial Support Weapons Platform IA:A2

I don't have these books in front of me right now, but the gun could be a reasonable stand in for one or two of these, I believe.
