Hi there,
We unleash two more monstrous beasts upon the Warhammer world in this week’s newsletter: the Chaos Dwarfs Bale Taurus and the Skaven Warlord on Brood Horror. We’ve also got a reminder about the cut-off dates by which we must receive your reservation orders for Games Day UK and Australia.

Chaos Dwarf Bale Taurus

The grim Dark Lands where the Chaos Dwarfs make their home are a dread and forbidding place, and birthing ground for many strange and unnatural creatures. None, however, are more sought after by the Dawi Zharr than the dread Bale Taurus of the Volcanic Heights.

To the Chaos Dwarfs, this mighty beast’s resemblance to their terrible god Hashut, the Father of Darkness, is no mere coincidence. Taking the form of an immense, winged daemoniac bull, its flesh burns with the intensity of a furnace, wreathing it in smouldering shadow and sparking the ground afire beneath its hooves.
None but the highest servants of Hashut and the most powerful of Fire wizards can hope to break and master these hellish bull-monsters, and even then it is only by means of the most complex and dangerous magics that a Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer can ride such a beast without succumbing to their incinerating heat and voracious appetite.

The Chaos Dwarf Bale Taurus, designed by Steve Whitehead, is a truly enormous and incredibly detailed full resin beast, and it is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 26th September. This monstrous creature, bedecked with armour plates and the infernal sigils and icons of Hashut, is fantastically dynamic and makes for an awe-inspiring centrepiece to a Chaos Dwarfs army. Rules for this creature are available in the forthcoming Warhammer Forge book Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos.

en Warlord on Brood Horror
The bloated terror that is a Skaven Brood Horror is highly prized by Clan Moulder, and these cannibalistic creatures are sometimes traded with the wealthier Skaven Clans for many thousands of slaves and warp-tokens.
The towering beasts are then used as a war-mount by especially powerful or ostentatious Skaven warlords; after all, what better way to protect one’s position of power than with such a massive and eternally-hungry beast.

The Skaven Warlord on Brood Horror, designed by Steve Whitehead and Trish Carden, is a finely detailed full resin kit that is available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing 26th September.Experimental rules, and a printer-friendly version, for this war-beast are also available to download now.

Games Day UK – 25th September 2011
With the biggest event of the year approaching, here at Forge World we’re busily finishing masters and painting models for Games Day UK, held at the N.E.C in Birmingham on Sunday 25th September. Tickets are selling fast but there are still some left, so if you’ve not yet bought one either pop in to your local Games Workshop Hobby Centre, call 0115 914 0000 or visit www.games-workshop.com.
There’s still time to place a reservation order for Games Day UK. As with our other UK shows this year, we’ll be taking payment in advance for these orders so that it’s much quicker and easier for you to collect a reservation at Games Day. A reservation order is the best way to ensure that we have exactly what you want at Games Day, including our Show Only figures, so please call the Forge World Customer Service team on 0115 900 4995 to place your reservation – we must receive these by 15th September.

Our aim with this change is to make collecting your reservation quicker, faster and easier than before. As the collection area will be totally separate to our main Sales stand, all you’ll need to bring with you to collect your reservation will be the e-mail you’ll receive in the week leading up to Games Day. As always, you’ll be able to collect your reservation at any point throughout the event, leaving you free to enjoy the rest of Games Day.

Games Day Australia
There’s still enough time to place a reservation order for Games Day Australia – just send an e-mail entitled ‘Games Day Australia Reservation’ to fwreservations@games-workshop.co.uk, making sure to provide your full name and a list of the items you’d like to reserve. You can also phone the Forge World Customer Service team on 0011 44 115 916 8177, but we must receive your orders by 12th September.

You can place a reservation for anything currently available from the online store, as well as our Event Only MkIII Boarding Space Marine and Chaos Dwarf Hellsmith figures. We will provide a confirmation e-mail before the event that will contain your order number and a total cost in Australian Dollars, payable upon collection. Please contact GW Australia Customer Service for full details of pricing at the event, or download a pdf copy of the updated Forge World 2011 catalogue and our new Warhammer Forge 2011 catalogue.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Red Bull gives you wings! Looks...okish. I'd rather like it without armor though. Although the detail of the skin looks a tad worse than the armor

The blades on the wings looke dopey +1.

The skaven and giant rat look brilliant.

The Taurus could've been better sculpted; as it stands, it looks quite unfinished.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

That rat beast is awesome. The tarus is better than the GW but it does look unfinished.

I'm pretty sure you can leave off the blades and armor. May take a little green stuff to plug in the holes but it shouldn't take a master sculpter's skills to do it

I am shocked that they did NOT provide a Chaos Dwarf Lord and/or Wizard rider for that awesome miniature!

That bull looks hilarious! It just looks like someone got bored and glued wings and odd bits of armour onto an old farmyard toy.

The Skaven model looks pretty good though

The last pic does make the Taurus look rather badly sculpted... quite blurred. Not sure if it's just the pic.

Also shocked that there's no rider... hmmmmmmmm...

I would be surprised if we don't see one. Remember how they released the Encarmine Dragon a few weeks before the character ridden one?

Reason they gave was that the dragons look similar, but there's a few minor details changed to allow for the rider to sit upon it. We might see similar with the Bale Taurus.

I like it though. The blades are a bit stubby looking, but otherwise it looks like an infernally charged and really annoyed bull of doooooooooooom.

I really like the concept- it's just what appears to be a rather blurred sculpt on the bull itself (from the pics) that concerns me... would be nice to see one painted up.

I wouldn't say the Taurus is bad by any stretch, but it's not quite up to what I think Forgeworld should be doing. It's way better than a standard GW monster, but not quite up to Forgeworld quality. The wings don't seem to fit, the armor doesn't seem to fit (and what's going on with the horns?!) and the extra blades on the wings don't fit. Overall it appears to me to be an excellent rendition of a very middling design concept. I'd have prefered a simpler, cleaner look that really tries to nail believable anatomy than one with armor and bits all over.

As for the skaven thing, well, it's a giant gribbly rat. I sort of feel like I'm not qualified to judge skaven stuff. It's like biological version of 40K ork stuff in a way, they are going for a specific look I'm not really interested in and it would be hard to make it not work.

i was looking at the bull and just thought. does it look like the armour can come off? i mean on other models where they have armor you can tell it's moulded as part of the model but on the taurus it looks like they're seperate from it.

I'm eager to see paint on the bull. It's difficult for me to judge these kinds of models without seeing what they can do with the colors.

Guess they better fit here.

FW sneak peek pics from their facebook page, probably revealed on GD UK:

On the Taurus: Body and wings look good, but wingblades and armour look totally out of place, like they belong to a Dark Eldar bitz box and still need to be worked on. Definitely will be waiting for the version with the mounted rider, maybe with better armour.

I never did like the brood horror, and slapping a rider onto it does not change my mind!

I like the taurus with the exception of the spikes stuck onto his wings, however, I prefer the look of the scibor one imo http://sciborminiatures.com/pow.php?absol=1&co=i/2010/big/moskal_general_green01.jpg

Perhaps I would be more keen on them if they were painted, the details seem to get lost in all that grey...

I agree. The scibor one is pretty awesome. I plan on not putting the silly blades on mine, but then again who knows when it's painted, it might look brilliant. I still ordered one from FW, so now I'll have two

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.
