** Edit : Changed thread name rather than keeping the old, so it makes a bit more sense as I'll post more WiPs as I progress.

Hey folks, I've been working on a vanguard assault marine conversion of the 54mm Artemis figure, the jump pack is now nearly finished and as such I wanted to show it off for C&C. My figure will have a helmeted head and I'm planning on building him a two-handed thunder hammer, also he'll be getting a wrist mounted boltpistol (like the sanguinary guard have).

Note that the jump pack is still WiP, needs some cleaning up and detail work. Am also considering some extra bits which the 28mm one doesn't have (guitar string powercables mounted alongside the blue fuel lines).

Let me know what you think.

Is that an old style jump pack? Because thats not how the current ones look.

Otherwise I would say it looks good. Can't wait to see the rest of him, especially the two handed T-hammer.

that is some impressive plasti-card work. I would love to see it mocked up to the rest of the model.

Yep, that's looking pretty awesome. If you're going for more added detail, why not add some icons and trim and whatnot too? Make it look a bit more ornate, anyway.

Ask and ye shall receive. Just for you I went ahead and pinned and glued the chest, legs and base together, rest is just temporarily attached with a tiny bit of superglue. Keep in mind that everything is still WiP, the backpack is mostly done but both arms will still get a lot of work, there'll be pouches and grenades, wrist mounted bolt pistol and then the two-handed thunderhammer.

Oh and before anyone feels the need to note on it, yes the backpack does look just a teenytiny bit big, mainly because I just doubled up the measurements of the 28mm one, but also because I left myself some leeway for filing down edges and parts which I in the end didn't quite need as much of. Still, I'm quite happy with it.

I dont think it looks over-sized at all, the scale is quite nice. Is this going to be a Sanguinary Gaurd pack complete with wings?

That's brilliant. Lucky you for having the helmetted head.

Are you modelling on a chest harness?

Nah, it'll be my own chapter (you can check 28mm guys in my gallery), I started using the single engine jump pack without wings on some of my vanguards as I like giving them a lot of individuality.

The helmeted head cost me about 2/3rds of the figure, but I really wanted one as one of my chapter's identifying marks is the multicoloured helmet. I don't think I'll put a harness on, for one my green stuff skills aren't that great yet, second I'm not sure how well it would fit with the oversized neckring this figure has.

Can't wait to see it finished.

But a question. Where did you get the large scale stuff? Is it an Inquisitor thing, I seem to remember that was the large scale specialist game?

Thats a seriously cool looking jetpack. With the bigger model it looks very dynamic. I'm intrigued to see the whole thing finished!

Yep it's a Battle Brother Artemis figure from Inquisitor, the model only comes with the unhelmeted head, the helmet was a limited edition thing they sold in blisters for a while long ago, it's not produced anymore and can really only be found on ebay and such, costs an arm and a leg.

I've been working on this guy but it's been a bit slow because of RL, thought I'd post up a new mockup, I got my hands on some "bluetac" (even tho it's white..) so that's what he's being held together by.

Wristmounted boltpistol has gotten a curved mag, rather than the drum mag I was initially going for, seeing as I changed my mind to him using the hammer, drum mag would've mostly been in the way. Except maybe a bullpup version.. hmm, now that I see the mockup I might have to change my mind again!

The hammer is very WiP, but you get the general idea, I'm using the Space Marine computer game's thunderhammer as inspiration. I'm extremely happy with how the chapter emblem turned out, it's ravenwing but I use it for my guys as my chapter is called Intrepid Eagles.

Enjoy, C&C welcome.

Looks very promising, can't wait to see it finished.

I like what what you did with the shoulder pad there.

It is coming along nicely, my only crituque at this point is the ammo clip, I think it is too small in scale for the gun, I would say about 30% bigger would put it in the correct proportion.

Yeah, I'm working several possibilities right now, most likely I'll put in a drum mag (or halfdrum rather), otherwise I'll beef up the curved mag a bit, about 20% would do it according to my measurements, which essentially is adding a piece of 0.5mm plasticard on each side. We'll see what I decide, I've been working on the hammer as well as spiffying up the jump pack at the same time too.

Bit of an update, the hammer has been coming along nicely so thought I'd snap a new mockup picture. Hammer's nearly done, there'll be some more work to the bottom end of the handle and then of course the wrapping, which will be greenstuffed once the arms have been finished and attached to the torso, as not to get the wrong hand positions.

The drum mag is one of four I've been working on (trying out a few different sizes and techniques), not entirely sure which I'll end up with just yet. The emblem on the hammer is just tacked on, I'm waiting for other ones from a bits site but they may end up being too big, in which case I'll use the one in the picture. Jump pack will likely get a bit more detail, some studs and maybe a purity seal or something.

C&C welcome as always.

Mostly just plasticard in different thicknesses and shapes (sheets and rods). Studs are made of greenstuff, there's a few pieces from random 40k stuff and guitar wire for the cable.

Redfinger wrote:ammo clip look better..what are your plans for "bling" I think he needs more of it.

Hehe, guess I have to go and beef up that ammo clip for proper comparison. As for bling there will be studs and purity seals, I've been pondering some chains and a "loincloth" of sorts as well. Right now I'm focusing on the main construction parts though and will add the bling at the end, don't want them getting in the way when handling the model.

Hey folks, after a bit of a hiatus because of RL and whatnot I'm back in action and have wrapped up this model. I've really been debating how much bling I want and came to the conclusion that less is better. I've had various bits I've tried to fit in on the model, but ended up not liking any of it.

Enjoy, C&C welcome.
