What is the most deadly unit or model (no characters please) in the game against hordes.
I think it is either the Necrolith Colossus, with 4 strength 6 attacks, 5 with an extra hand weapon, the unstoppable assault special rule, and a thunder stomp, it hurts.
Or the Khemrian Warsphinx, with the ability to 40 attacks at once, it will hurt, a lot

Really depends what horde you are facing, MOK GW Marauders hurt., FAnatics hurt, LSG can deliver hurt with horde, volley fire, and spears.

I should have made it clear, I mean in assault, just one unit or model, no combined units or double charges, and by hordes I mean like zombie, skavenslaves, men@arms, cheap weak models, but a lot of them

Fly 1inch from a flank or rear, breath template, fireball, they reform to face in their turn then you charge in, by that time hopefully another unit can charge so combo charges, different flanks.

Mournfangs seem to brong the hurt a lot.
Still i'll go with Shadowslaan/Teclis. Miasma+Pit muhahahaha.

a horde of LSG then. they can shoot the entire way in, and then poke you in the face.

Whenever I've used them recently mournfang have put big dents in my opponents hordes (7 attacks + stomp + potential D3 impact hits for the front row of mournfangs)

-3 Salamanders
-A Bloodthirster kitted nearly any way, but with Dark Insanity and armor, he's going to get 4-14 attacks (yes, he can go over 10) avg. 9 attacks at W10 I9 S6 and get a Thunderstomp.

Fight them in the woods. They don't get their stupid bonus and suddenly their trash infantry becomes trash.

Lore of shadow and mortars toughness 1 or 2 stuff getting hit by a mortar is devastating.

Gateway does a good job too.

THe war sphinx can really lay down the law with thunder crush breath weapon and thunder stomps.

Horde of AHW mok warriors with razor standard.

Honestly, that would mean another horde, getting elite units into combat with massive number of tarpits sounds counter-productive already. You might kill them in the end, but your expensive unit would be tie down for some time.
Best way to kill a horde would be uber spells and templates.

max diecing dwellers etc is the natural counter to hordes if you try and counter them wit another unit your opponent wins because your 450 point unit is held up for most of the game by 150 points.

Warsphinx broke a horde of sixty in two or three turns.
necrolith colossus could do quite well, with the sheer number of attacks it can dish out
(5 to when ever they are all dead, in case you didn't know)

Teclis can one shot just about any horde out there.

Same for Slann.

Mournfangs will chew Str3 and 4 hordes(that don't have armor piercing) up like so much jello. although the Horde will likely remain Steadfast.

anything that has Large Pie. I miss my scraplauncher of doom(Str3 KB FTW!!!)
