Dakkacon is a mostly unorganized event you can blame on the guys in the DCM mosh pit. We get together a couple of times a year for board games, specialist games, mini campaigns, and open gaming. They'll be sort of a schedule at some point.) People will bring BFG, Bloodbowl, and other games you don't see a lot of. Cataan and Red Dragon Inn will always show up, along with any other boardgame folks want to play. Some of us even rise to the occaison and set up one day campaigns or mini tournaments. And any gamer can organize and run something if they want to. Very open schedule. Last time Kid Kyoto ran a scenario game with Horus vs the Emperor, and we've had 500pt campaigns for both 40k and WFB. I'm working on a Chaos Warbands campaign, using the old Realms of Chaos books. Feel free to PM me if you feel up to running something.

The only cost is for food, and that's totally optional. I'm going to be feeding people from Friday to Sunday for the low, low fee of 20 bucks. Ask anyone who went to Border Raids what the food was like if you're curious. Jin and RiTides attended, and still alive to speak of it!

Having just finished Border Raids, I got a good idea of how far I can stretch a buck. Your 20 bucks for Dakkacon will be food on Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday. I'll pick up many cases of water, fruit, hard pretzels, and snacks. Coffee and donuts in the mornings. Meals will be sort of ongoing, and I'll be warming up one crockpot after another as it gets eaten. Chili, Red Beans and Rice, Sausage sanwhiches, London Broil Sandwhiches, Beef Stew, Chili Dogs, and Squig Surprise!. It's high on fat, protein, and tasty bitz. Low on veggies. But it seems to be what disappears the fastest and gets the most compliments.

More details to come. But we'll be rolling dice and playing something all weekend long.

25pts Warmahordes tourney (Participate as though you possess testicles etc!)
Late Night painting: The local Club, BigGunz-NE is doing one of their Iron Painters. These usually go all night with much coffee and redbull and then we go out to eat around 6am at the local diner. The store will provide lots of paints, basing materials and hobby tools. You provide something to paint and lots of caffeine. This also means you can game until 6am!

Saturday morning/afternoon
- Be there for 9.30am - play begins at 10am
1000 WH40k tourney (In the grimdark future of the 41st millenium there is only war... and Mike's infamous London Broil sammichs!)
$10 dollar contribution: these will be added together as a prize voucher for the winning team.

Saturday Night:
Brushfire Demo/Meet and Greet, Open Gaming, Board Games, =I=Munda/Deathwatch hybrid.
Probably a speed painting contest.
Boardgames, open gaming.
Set up for Warbands campaign on Sunday. Maybe sneak in some early games?

Sunday morning/afternoon -

1000pt Warhammer Fantasy Battle: WARBANDS (take your brave army into the realm of chaos and bathe in the weirdness of the chaos mutation charts (AKA Party like it's Slaves to Darkness)

A gentle reminder that this event is about meeting your fellow dakkanauts and enjoying a weekend of gaming, the tourneys are ultralight and the emphasis is on fair play and rolling off what you can't immediately agree on. It's not about beardy stunts or waac mentality. Please play nice.

This last year was the best time I had gaming all year, tournies included! Highly recommended... and already registered for the food

Take 15 lbs of London Broil. Add a dry rub to spice it up a bit, grill until well done. Let cool for 6 hours, covered so they don't dry out. Slice into 1/4" strips. Dump into crockpots. Boil up a gallon of beef broth of Au Jus, and poor over the steak, put on low for 12 hours, or until it crumbles to the touch. Add sandwhich rolls, cheese, condiments, and horseradish sauce. Mix with 3 dozen games.

Produces 2 empty crockpots about an hour later.)

That sounds awesome, but I am currently based in the UK, which makes distance an issue, and that also happens to be the weekend of APOCAFEZ! (Crazy apocalypse game up in Nottingham run by a guy with a fez)

I expect to be there. I can bring all my Blackwater Gulch stuff and run demos too if ya like. But not sure what day I could make it.. sunday for sure, but Saturday might be tougher to swing.

It's marked on my calendar. I should be able to make it Saturday 28th.

Hmmm... This may give me the kick in the pants I need to paint some models and get back to blogging.

With any luck I'll be able to make it down this year. Best store I've ever been in, must be awesome to game there too.

Sigh... wish I could be there. I made two of them and always had a great time. I can post my latest Emp vs Horus rules if anyone wants to run it.

But I might make the Dakka meet up in Japan so it's all good.

Man. I really need to figure out a way to attend. Is there a way to convince a company to hire me, not start working until after Dakkacon, and give me a nice fat signing bonus so I can afford the trip?

To ensure a degree of 'family friendly' atmosphere for the 40k 1k tourney, you will be randomly placed in teams, to avoid any 'powergamer/powerbuild/powercodex' upset (there will be a very wide range of player experience here and we want it to remain in good spirits for all).

How many per team will depend on numbers on the day.

What about Squats? I've never seen a squat army before.

As long as you're using a current codex and everything is clearly explained to the opposition re counts as, before the battle, then no worries.

This sounds like a great time and awsome event. I love seeing stuff like this posted. Now I thinks I might have to join the moshpit to see whats happens at the 'after party'
