Are you calling Foo Fighters metal? Ouch.

No he's calling one track off their latest album metal. Because bands sometimes slip in and out of other genres. Shocking I know.

What? Silly GW rage is common.

Mistaking the Foo Fighters for metal? That's just downright evil.

Not that big of a deal, except that they are making retail stores even more obsolete. Where will new gamer/hobbyists come from? Is the draw of video games and other licenses enough that they can assassinate the retail market for their models? If you get 20-30 percent off I can still see the value in it, but you would have to really love your FLGS or local GW to pay full price. ?

It depends on if you count the 2nd edition model or only the current model.

I believe the second ed one was around $20 back in the day.

Every release, every update, even the slight increase in March 3rd was a Saturday and that wasn't announced. The May 28th link doesn't have a year attached to it, until I see a year or some other date, I'm going to assume the dates given are all wrong, especially May 28th... since that was the date of LAST YEAR'S price increase...

Your are really getting ramped up about the date. Whether its the 28th or June 1st, 20% price increase is still ****ING RIDICULOUS!

The plastic Lascannon one (3rd ed style) was $45.00, with the Crusader and it's metal parts being $50.00 if I remember correctly. When the LRR/Crusader kit was first announced it was the same price as the Lascannon one, but by the time it actually released, a price increase had taken effect and both were $50.00, then 57.00, then 66.00, and now 75.00,

It seems only within the last 5 years that this annual increase has really gone into full swing. Not saying price rises weren't there before, I'm saying they weren't as often, nor big.

GW has an established trend and has even admitted to monetarily pricing units according to 1) How good they are in game and 2) Popularity.

IMO the huge price mark up hints that Land Raiders and other Space Marine tanks may be exponentially awesome in 6th edition. Even better than 5th. The relatively low monetary cost (compared to other vehicles) of the new flyers hints that they will be weak in game and likely used sparingly. So to entice players to actually purchase them despite other, better, but ultimately more expensive options they'll keep the prices on the flyers comparatively low.

If I were to let my mind wander down that cynical path I think I would come up with a different explanation; that vehicles are going to be nerfed in 6th, and are therefore expected to sell fewer kits (since everyone who already has six transports will stop buying them, and new players may cap their investment at one or two kits).

pretre wrote:

I would say generally, having followed video games over the past 20 years or so, by and large they are vastly cheaper than they used to be. There are cheaper, 2nd hand options, and the likes of ebay and other internet discounters. Certainly, its a lot cheaper now than in the days when the NES was around and you were desperately pleading with your parents to stump up £50 for Zelda

Sort of off-topic, but it is looking somewhat likely that the videogame industry may conspire to kill the used market when the new generation of consoles launches. Games will be tied to user accounts, so that a person who acquires a used game will need to buy a code to get access to the full features of the used game.

Its really rubbing you up the wrong way isn't pretre.. go have a listen to the song, you'll suddenly realize you where freaking out over nothing. Yeah, but seriously, one Song doesn't equal whole new genre change for the band, otherwise, Slipknot would have been fethed by Corey Taylor and Bother.

You mean the ones that forgeworld modeled their landraiders off of. They were not that bad, and at 2 for $25 quite a bargain. Any good modeler could make great tanks out of those. Hell I'd buy those now if I could get 2 for $50. Well I would if I didn't already have 4 of them.

The increase in prices are really pissing me off now. There is NO WAY you can justify to me an increase on even half of this crap. At this point, any new army I start will be a FW one...they are slightly more economical compared to a GW army. Bah...who am I kidding...with increases to this level there is really no point in starting a new army ever again. I'll play with what I have...and maybe add a unit here an there if needed to my existing armies. I make good money, but the price of this hobby vs. return has finally reached it's apex.

I have not seen anyone else post this, so I will.
Just was making a cart full of items on gw's website to see what all I will need to order from my flgs to get it before this price hike, and nearly everything that I added would either tell me it could not be added to the cart due to price listing not found, or it would bump up in price once added to the cart.
This was mostly on SM vehicles and squads. It was showing a razorback as $44.

Edit: before you start flaming me, please check it out yourself.

My country is USA. It shows the normal price, but once added to the cart, either removes it from the cart and tells me there is no price, or shows a different price.

Edit: it seems to work correctly on some things, and not on others, possibly just a glitch in their site, not really sure. I was not trying to say it is an early price rise, just saying what I am experiencing with their website right now. Seeing as how it pertains to price discrepencies, i figured this would be an appropriate place to post.
