Looking forward to the update Vik , are you going for realism or design and style now or a kind of mix of both plausible with a degree of looking the dogs …….

aaaahhh... rusty... now that rang the right bell^^
and you are right...these would indeed and do make good legs!^^ as in your built it already showed^^
also i would now presnt to you some imrpessions of the legworks i had done this morning... please don´t mind the clothpegs...just a means to an end^^
thruth to be told...this is atm a total junkbiult^^ all leftover pieces for the legs... do you recon i should cover up the individual pieces that form one joint? i vould add a plate there ? and of course an idea point to add rivets there...^^
comments...critizism, or the odd penny droped in my hat... i am grateful for everything
Lookin good Vik! If I were you, I would just keep on doing what you are doing, I'd worry about any armor plates or details until you have your base structures all built later.
Only one, minor, nitpicky crit, and this isn't even important, because we all know what you mean.
Speaking of built - that is a funny English word, but normally, "built" is used in the past-tense, as in (I built a walker, or I built a house). "Build" is used in two different ways, first as a verb, "To form by combining materials or parts; construct" (I am going to build a walker).
You are using "built" as a noun when referring to your construction "This built is made of junk" when technically, you should be using "build" as a noun (This build is made of junk or I am going to add more parts to this build)
Very very minor like I said, but your English is 9000% better than my German ( I only know a few swear words my grandfather used )

Great work so far, Vik. Especially given the particularly thrifty construction materials. I am quite impressed by the scale (btw, thanks for the guardsman for reference ).
Two bits of CC, though both are along the same lines. First, I would be careful not to get the main body too far forward. If the (apparent) center of gravity is in front of the feet, it will look very strange. Search through the gallery for sentinels. I'm sure you can find some pictures of what I mean. Second, she looks a bit too narrow in the hips to me. I know your concept art had a lot of skinny, tall machines, so maybe that was what you're going for. Just my $0.02.
Keep up the great work!

That's a good bit of scratch build there Vic! I like where this is going! When you are closer to having the general shape to being done, then you should go back and flesh it out like Dave mentioned. I would build up the legs a bit, maybe with sprue or something to make them look like they can support the weight, and sprockets and cogs and pistons and such.
ok...what is the difference between cogs and sprockets ? this is an earnest question...
also...thanks dave... actually i never was sure of that build/built issue myself...also your explanaition was totally good for me to follow...so i am rather thankful for the nudge in the right direction...
also i think your idea to flesh out later the legs is a good way to do it...
at rawson... i tried to give it a bit of a dynamic pose...this might have been a bit too much...i also was thinking of getting that one leg raised in the air...like it would be about to step over an obstacle...the real posing by the way happens when i fugure out how to make the toes...
at jake...i was a bit worried of the size of the legs...on the one hand they look for my taste too long...then they are a bit on the weedy side too... that combined with the much bigger and thicker looking cockpit...makes me wonder if i should redo from scratch those legs... the general idea may be in the good direction but the current build is not sufficiently looking like it would be capable of actuall walking....
at hazzer... well rules...probably none right now...as i am not really a player at all....

Just remember that this is the 'skeleton' of the legs, so to speak. That amount of forged steel would be plenty to support even a larger cockpit, so that's fine. Once you get the pistons and some armour on them, they'll look brilliant.

Viktor von Domm wrote:ok...what is the difference between cogs and sprockets ? this is an earnest question...
I have no idea really, I think they mean pretty much the same thing. But it's like saying "Bits and pieces", they pretty much mean the same thing, but they go together.
I believe the cogs are the wheels and the sprockets are the teeth. but they are pretty much synonymous.
Viktor von Domm wrote:ok...what is the difference between cogs and sprockets ? this is an earnest question...
A sprocket is typically a toothed wheel (not a gear) that turns (or is turned by) a chain.
A cogwheel is a type of gear whose cogs (teeth) are constructed seperately from the rest of the wheel and attached or inserted later.

Cogs are manufactured at Cogswell Cogs, Sprockets are manufactured at Spaceley Sprockets. Duh...EVERYONE knows that!

I like the layout so far and I would not worry about the bulking till you achieve the desired look, as for the balance factor that depends on the cockpit positioning and the power supply as I am sure Vik has some design to this build and layout.
I like the thin look it has that steam-punk feel to it built for a purpose but only what is needed, I think this is turning into an interesting build and looking forward to the next update hopefully with more pictures …...

freegles...yep that was a looooong time ago...
i liked those lil fellas that built all these big buildings which got eaten by the freegles...
at shaso... not gonna happen to soonish as i have thought and rethought hard about the current build of the legs...rawsons insights i think gave a much needed nudge...which brought me to a sudden try which resulted in a broken build...so now on the bright side i can restart anew
no problem there as i always treat my builds like they are just a prototypes...even the first big red tank might have been torn asunder in the very last stages...i am that way...
so now i redesign the legssection and maybe even the cockpit too...general design ideas are still valid but i might change the productions way...i think i start anew with the legs and then see how and with what i will create the cockpit section...
tomorrow is still planned for hobby shopping ...mabye alone or with the whole family...depends on the plans of our family... but after this then the work will truly start...
gogo Vik! Don't fret too much though, I don't want to see you frustrated to the point where you don't want to do it anymore. That is no fun, and we won't get pics

well tomorrow i will go to the aforementioned shop with a fist full of money...and try to compose myself^^
we will see how good that will work out... i defninatly will be looking for some special shaped rods of PC...maybe i-beams and such things... i need a shape to build the legs from...also i am totally open to how i could make toes for that walker...any suggestions?
