I would just make them approximately like either the AT-ST with razor-wire cutters, or liek the sentinel. Nothing fancy

Don't want him deflecting las-shots only to trip and fall

actually i really cant stand the toes of the AT-ST...

the good thing with the sentinel parts is that i have them here for reference...so i could build them acordingly to some extent...

tho i probably will settle for something like the old RT sentinel legs toes...

OMG, that's the gawd-awful AMT AT-ST kit! I have one of those, couldn't bring myself to finish it. That kit is a horrible waste of plastic IMHO.

I always liked the feet of the ATST, would love to see you do a version of them.

i had toyed around with the idea to get me that kit... good of you to warn me about it^^

also it shows the ugly toes of this walker quite good...it just looks as if it is not able to stomp...just like it is about to cut your toenails and ask about your recent holidays...

hmmm perkustin... the feet of the ATAT are much more to my liking...:

Dave, how can you say that's an awful kit?

There's two lovely grot hover vehicles to be made from the feet, an armoured tunnel/sewer entrance from the hull, couple of bulkheads from the waist and engine nacelles from the thighs. Granted, the only decent use for the spiky gubbins on the side is as an epic scale ork multi-launcher, but you can't have everything can you?

Vik, three circles from the hole-punch make nice round feet/toes. Three different sizes, largest at the bottom, then smallest, then medium on top.

I tried.

Thicken away! I didn't have anything too creative for the underside thought out. I'd say don't even worry about it, but I think you said you wanted a foot in mid step, so... Basic V-tread?

So! the shopping is over...paid a handsomly fee to get this suply drop done:

got me a micro saw blade...i think i can stuck it somewhere and make it working...this saved me about 4€s...^^

and these will make quite nice scaled amocrates...i hope...

the PC sheet is very thin...dunno how thin actually...the lady at the counter was also a bit confused^^ too many rods and she knew zip about each of them...after a while of hussle to get the prices into the system she even gave me one rod for free...she was really upset about the long wait for me at the counter^^
also here are the rods i got:

i think there is some use in them^^ all rods save the evergreen ones are 100mm long...i think the length combined of the evergreen ones are too 100mm...

at rawson...if you are up to it i i would like you to make a sketch^^ that really helps my imagination^^

same goes for monkeytroll... your suggestion sounds interresting...but is that supposed to be done asa sandwich or how?
and a very interresting list if uses for the chicken^^

at dave... that walker is rather tall compared to the mini on your desk...also it looks as if you achieved the main task with that kit...well i think there might be the case of satisfaction but that can be garanteed^^

at shaso, frogmania? lol

Plastic rods are always fun when the sales assistant doesn't know which is which

Nice little supply drop there vik, have fun with it.

And, yes sandwich the discs :

Not a sketch, but you should get the idea You'll probably want them a little thicker and/or wider, depending on the size of the foot.

for the current walker project i think this look is not what i have in mind...tho with the addition now that thicker materials and probably wider discs...hmm... but later on...dunno maybe two years a robot army will rise... i plan to make some robots for my youngest boy...he after all needs an army of his own too^^ and there might come this methode quite handy... i have some hazzy robot pictures of older times in my mind that this look could be just what the doc ordered^^

Nice supply Drop Vik! You have no idea the amount of work I put into that kit, filling, sanding, replacing parts with styrene, adding wires and hoses to the bottom, sanding some more, and it still doesn't look anything near ILM's studio model (which I was looking at pics and working towards). I got to this point, primed, only to realize the proportions of the kit were completely off. I was taking a scale-modeler's approach to it, and still haven't found a Chewbacca the right scale to put sticking out of the top hatch.

oh... well as i said i had looked at several ebayauctions... i guess your review of that kit sure kept me from hitting on that...

somehow the scale of that legs compared to the cockpit just doens´t fit the original... it is a 1:48 kit? hmmm...i have no idea if a chewie in that sclae could exist...but then again i think chewie would be easy to sculpt by yourself...even if you don´t like sculpting as i still remember^^ just a lump with arms and then create the texture... furballs should be fearly easy to do^^

I was thinking something like this:

Where the grey would be recessed and the white would actually be flush against the ground. However, it seems like a lot of work for something that will be flush against the ground...

You would almost have to carve that out of solid plastic. I could see the interior tread being strip-layed on, but the round outer circle.....

Yeah Vik, the legs ARE too long for the kit. Not to mention all the other out-of-scale things. AMT really laid an egg on that kit.

The body is in perfect 28mm scale, but the legs are almost twice as long as they should be compared to the ILM model.

yeah your movie pic shows that quite good...such a shame...maybe one day you feel like scratchbuilding the legs...heck if someone is so crazy to make those legs there is little use not to make a fully scratchbuilt AT ST...

beside...

during my long stay in that hobbydepot...i came to see the Rivetmaker of yours...it was from a very good company...and it charged 195€s... hello??? ok lots of screws to secure all and everything but please? also it had a ruler for 45° angled cuts as well... i see this is something worth having but not at this price...

at rawson... looks very good... tho this makes me wonder if i skip the disc shape and replace it with a more pentagon shape i might be able to make it a tad easier on me^^ but that design reminds me a lot of my old soldierboots... loved that "V" profile... seems the V was following me even then^^
