Miraculously I somehow got my girlfriend into playing Warhammer 40k, I know I was surprised myself. So she decided that she would start playing, and really liked the Dark Eldar (the models looked cool) so I told her I would get her some.
We went to the gaming store and picked out Lilith (again she liked the way she looked as a model), some warriors, and the Dark Eldar Codex. We didn't go all out getting more than that because as we all know, this sh*t is expensive, and she wanted to paint a little at a time and not be overwelmed.
My question is, what are some more models that I can get her, besides more troop choices, and tactics that she would be able to use that would make her successful playing? I dont want her to lose all the time, and i dont want to just let her win. Because as we all know if your women is happy then you are happy, and i also get to pay more models for my army too.

Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch

You sound like me...a year ago. Wifey picks out the pretty thong wielding Lelith. I'll warn you though, in a year from now she'll remodel Lilith into an Archon..BEWARE! (This message was brought to you by Tzeentch...obey him!)

My girl runs Wyches/Warriors (4 squads total {2 Wyches/2 Warriors} of 10 models in each or breaks them down into squads of 5 for some lists when she wants to capitalize on capture points) typically adds in 1 squad of Incubi to kill units tarpitted by the Wyches and some Trueborn to kill anything with armour. Throw in some ravagers and then venoms and/or raiders to drive everyone around. She might also consider an Archon later on (ends up actually dealing out more damage then Lelith against many units...shocking).

Let the Wyches tie up units and the Incubi help them finish off tougher squads. Attach Lelith to the Incubi or Wyches, she's a good addition to either squad and I won't discourage your girl from using her, it's her army after all . Let the warriors (can be played as Trueborn with blasters) sit back in transports and rain down fire while avoiding the enemies stronger anti tank weapons. The ravagers will help destroy any vehicles and allow your other squads to get to the juicy insides.

Don't forget though...if you've beat her a couple matches or more in a row...lose the next one. Flying Lelith model at your head can be painful (sharp bits and all).

I throw my wife a 500 pt handicap.

I play at 1250, and she gets 1750, as i play more often, and am better at the game.

As she gets better the handicap will reduce.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

That cap sounds like a good idea. Will have to try that.
Right now we are just playing squad against squad just so she get a hang of the overall mechanics of the game with no codex rules. That confused her at first. So defense wyches and warriors in transports. But I can't wait to play her in a big match. It is going to be great.

I wonder what army has the most female players, because my wife also chose dark eldar when she decided to start playing.

Consider getting ravagers for her. kinda expensive, but kinda required at any decent point level. If not you can make due with razorwings.

Wyches are pretty cool, i'd suggest a squad of them for the next purchase. Drip feeding might be good, otherwise it gets overwhelming. Best unit in our codex too ;-)

Oh, and if you have 10 warriors, she could try converting a model to make a 2nd blaster. This is a good mix, 8 warriors with rifle, 2 blasters

Its probably a good idea to plan the army in 500pt blocks, work out some small lists to plan off of sort of thing.

I reckon go some wyches, a raider or ravager next, most DE armies are going to include one of those 3 units.

Dark Eldar- 1500pts Completed
Grey Knights- 1500pts 1 Guy done
Chaos Daemons- Approx 5000pts
Slaanesh Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Khorne Daemons- 1500pts, in progress
Death Korps of Krieg- Plans being formulated.
---------------------------------------------------
High Elves- Approx 2000pts
Vampire Counts- Raising the dead once more

Yeah, its got to be a raider afterwards, then maybe a haem (this is a cool finecast). Wyches put an agoniser on and a razorflail.

Vehicles are cool to assemble for the first time, but she needs transports.

I think that handicap will vanish after 3 games

Regular kabalites can only take one blaster per unit. Did you mean Trueborn, or two 5-strong kabalite units?

I'd suggest getting the Battleforce next.

It'll give you a nice variety of models to mess with, most being useful, pretty much all of them look good in it and will be nice to paint, and gaming wise a solid base to move on from when combined with your existing 10 warriors and Succubus.

At that point game-wise you'll have a squad of wyches to go with your succubus, and a raider to float them round in, backed by 3 bikes and 2 squads of warriors providing cover fire.

After that I'd probably suggest a Razorwing Jetfighter, as it's a relatively cheap, effective HS choice that looks freakin awesome.

Oh sorry, two times five man warrior squads with a blaster each. It's a cookie MSU.

The Battle force is nice for pretty models, but thats about it. She kinda (read you kinda), need to figure out the 1500-2000 list you want, and build to that. Steps is good. 500-750-1000-1250 etc, but have a plan for a "goal list". Will save you $$

I'd hardly say it's just good for pretty models. It's basically a £18 saving on what's in there overall, and everything in it is useful. (some would argue everything apart from the bikes will be beneficial, but bikes can be good, though generally rarely.)

What does the battleforce include? I think I might pick this up for her. I think a raider also at the same time?
Is the archon a better HQ compared to the succubus and haemonculus?

This is really good advice, thanks guys.

The battle force doesn't have mech which is what is needed, but it does have warriors, wyches, and reavers. All of which are good. I agree with cmac pretty much on all of his advice. Razorflails, multiple 5 man warrior squads with blasters, and mech. Venoms for anything 5 or less and raiders elsewhere.

As for ravagers, if she doesn't mind a little conversion work. you can make one out of a raider kit. Take 2 DL (from two warrior kits) and give them to the hanging on guys. Glueing them on gives you a ravager that looks pretty convincing and saves you about $30 per ravager. So after three thats getting near $100.

The two blaster bit thing is taking the blast pistol bulb and the stock of a splinter rifle and merging them. That's great for blaster born (4 or 3 trueborn all with blasters). Oh give Venoms both SC.

I ended up getting 4 boxes of warriors, these gave me the bodies and all the parts needed to make 16 blasters with 4 blasters using the disintegrator from the Ravager set. So basically, 12 Blasterborn, and 4 x 5 man warrior squads with 1 blaster each.

but you can take 2 units of 5, each with a blaster. Troop requirements, taken care of!

haemonculuses are great, they have tons of toys, buff the squad they join and are into BD SM (not space marines)

an archon is generally better than a succubus, but work out to be more expensive pointwise.

get her some venoms, DE need raiders and venomes and well lots of vehicles. which makes them expensive.

I reccomend buying old Eldar Vypers on Ebay and converting them.
