If you pit every single armed ground force the imperium can bring to bear. (pdf, astartes, custodians, grey knights, guardsman, sororitas, skittari, titans, kreeeeeeeed, marbo and every single else armed force the imperium can bring to bear oh i forgot their psykers.)
versus
All the orks that are united under one huge WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH.
They fight on one planet if its not possible just imagine it is ok?
I myself think the battle will be won by the imperium. As the guardsman and pdf's and other basic armed forces mixed with mechanicum ordinatti and skittari will set up like a huge front and will just defend in attrition warfare. And have the space marines, grey knights, costodians titans sororitas and stuff make attacks. The battle will end with the astartes and other forces using their superior technology to force a breaktrough spearheaded by the costodes and grey knights.

If ALL the orks fought ALL the humans, orks would win. Orks quite possibly outnumber us 1000 or more to one. It would take at least an entire solar systm to cram them all on one planet, every square foot. Even the ocean floor.

Orks beat anything if every ork is unified in the cause. In fact, they're win would be so comically one-sided that it'd barely be worth mentioning. In fact, unified Orks beat every other faction combined.

If you limit the Imperials to just ground forces, and you limit their arena to a single planet, there's no way they can win that scenario. Combine this tactical inflexability with the Orks main strengths: numbers and ferocity in close combat, and there's only one, inevitable outcome.
The humans are winning while they're shooting the Orks during their WAAAAGH towards them, but when that green tide finally hits . . . well, as a certain marine once said:
"Game over, man. It's game over!"

I guess I'll be the one to say the Imperium would win.
Honestly, what I have in my head is more akin to a tide charging into a tight formed line of guns and not being able to make it past a certain point.
There is simply too many Imperial tanks. I can't see the orks being able to overcome Imperial Lines too far. If the Imperial Commanders knew defensive depth and where armor and titans should be placed excetra.
The Imperium is deffinately a shooting force, and can deploy a LOT of lines of men, at a distance far enough between each one that when one is overrun, the next line will pick up where the other left off.

Standing by the Imperial Guard they would utterly wipe out every green skin on the battle field. think of the battles between the Celts and the romans, hopelissily outnumbered but they won by sheer tactical brillience.

Ya but Games Workshop also said that if humanity ever brought its entire military might against any one of the xenos or traitor forces they would demolish them, its the fact that there are a multitude of races attacking them from all directions that the Imperium is in a stalemate. That codex quote is also refering to the Orks fighting an Imperium fighting all these other factions at once. (However the same is true in reverse)
I think this is a case of what happens when a unstopable object (Orks) meets and inmovable object (Imperium)
I want to put my money on the Imperium because of the leadership abilites of people like Creed, Yarrick, and Cagnar working together but if the Orks would win, I wouldnt be THAT surprised
However I can see it going either way.

Yeah but the romans could actually kill the celts I mean a waagh this big would literally make the orks invincible!!!!
Not to mention that Gork and Mork would appear like in the skie within like 2 milliseconds. Also as soon as the imperium forces landed the inquisition would go nuts over a lot of the fightin forces on th ground, they would call 2/3 of their forces heretics and the last 1/3 would almost be dead from all the fightin!!!

I don't think people truly realise what every Ork uniting under one banner, much less one battlefield, would mean.
Gork and Mork, two Warp entities more powerful than the Chaos Gods created from the Ork's consciousness, would almost literally manifest, the full might of two deities would manifest and be brought to life by every united Ork mind in the galaxy. Every Ork would become much stronger individually and as a whole, their weapons would become more powerful, their armour impervious, it would be a level of psychic might that would make the Emperor sheepishly blush.
And at the head of the pack is the supreme Warlord, likely Ghazghkuull. He would probably be something around five miles tall and his spit would carry the same amount of force as a Blackstone Fortress.

The orks have plenty of tanks and walkers as well. not to mention the koptas and commandos coming in from the rear.
The charge of the orks would be a thing of beauty, a line of battle wagons, with rollas a spinnin, followed up by a horde of kans, followed by a endless mass of green skins. The roar of the engines, Ghazghkull calling a waaaagh, the koptas and bikers spewing a huge mass of smoke, the smell of ozone from all the force fields. Brings a tear to my eye, its more beautiful than a plastic bag blowing in the wind
The imperium would be at a disadvantage from the start though, you'd have to assume they were protecting something on the planet, as they didn't just pack up and run. So depending on the terrain its located on, its possible the orks would be closing in on all sides. Ask the brits how that worked for them against the Zulus. numbers tend to win over weaponry.
Watching the guards tank line just start randomly having tanks exploding and a few surprised guards men having some snotlings and big meks just appearing in the middle of their ranks, pure orky goodness. the humies just wouldn't stand a chance if they tried to hold the ground on the planet. What they should do, is posture for a fight, wait for the orks to come, then get off the planet as quick as possible and nuke it from high orbit. Its the only way to be sure Its just a shame they have such puny teeth, but the orks would have a whole bunch of new looted wagons after that fight

THIS.
Though, with all of humanity united maybe the Emperor would fight Gork and Mork in the background to stop this from happening....
Then humanity wins as Pedro Kantor Falcon Punches the Arch Arsonist so hard into Gazghull that it stuns him long enough for Brother Jarod of the Black Templar(a ven dread who HATES orkz) to throw a barely concious Yarrick powerklaw first into his face.

Thats not correct imo.
The Ork one states
"Should the Orks ever truly unify, they would crush all opposition and drown the civilised races in a tide of gore."
The key word here (and I will assume simultaneously is implied) is all. If the Orks united any and all civilised races at once would be wiped out. That involves fighting, Humanity, Crons, Nids, Eldar etc.
I cant find the actual Imperium quote unfortunately but iirc it states that if Humanitys full force was brought to bear VS a single faction that faction would be wiped out.
But that is a single faction, fought alone and ignoring everyone else.
Its akin to a Lion fighting a Hyena pack and going through each Hyena one on one.
However the Ork Lion takes on the whole pack at once and still wins.

Yeah, but the Romans weren't outnumbered millions to one.
Yes, the ratio really is that big, and unlike the celts, the orks won't care how many of them get killed before they smash home.
Of course, that's not including the fact that a lot of ork technology is just as lethal on the battlefield as that of the Imperium, if not more so, and they are also capable of using strategy.
The average Warboss is often considered highly intelligent even for human standards, something many people miss when this sort of argument comes up.

Doesn't matter. The Imperial Navy would solo the entire ork army. Having kazillions of infantry troops means nothing when your navy isn't up to the task. Imperial Ships are bigger, stronger, faster and may even be more numerous. The Navy would wipe the floor with the ork navy and then just commence exterminatus on the green skin infected planet, making the ork species go extinct.
Honestly, putting all the orks in the galaxy in one little space would be a wet dream for the Imperium, since they could just nuke that little space and kill them all instantaneously.
As for Gork and Mork, if we're going to start speculating on what the chaos gods would do in this situation, you'd have to also consider that every Imperial force simultaneously believing in the Emperor that much could quite possibly empower him enough to turn him into a God that could annihilate all the others anyway. Speculation is speculation, obviously.

You clearly don't know much about ork fleets if you think they're less numerous or slower than Imperial ships.
Take the space battles above Armageddon, for instance. That was one Waaagh!'s fleet, and it outnumbered the Imperial defenders 6:1.
Considering both this and that the Imperium had placed a pretty large fleet in the Armageddon system in the first place (given it's importance in terms of industry), I think it's fair to say that even in space, the numbers game wins it for the orks, especially when the fact that the Imperium cannot readily replace it's ship-based losses, whereas the orks can, is taken into account.
In terms of speed, the two fleets are about equal, with Imperial escorts being more nimble than their greenskin counterparts, and the Imperial capital ships able to soak up more punishment.
But in the long run, that won't matter a damn bit, as has been shown time and again in the fluff.

Nope, play BFG a bit, ork ships are capable, cheap and numerous, they also have access to roks (ships built from asteroids) and activated space hulks, the most massive and powerful ships in the game). The ImpNav would be smeared across the void by the sheer weight of the unified ork nation.
BlaxicanX wrote:

All the orks in one place... you know that orks have the most advanced shield and teleportation tech in the 40k game? Have done since the original ork books. Also, you're not getting the sheer number of orks, in an ork fleet... we're talking about a subsector of the imperium or even a partial sector being fully occupied. The gestalt Waaaagh would crush psychic opposition, the astronomican would be blotted out, the hive mind would be screamed into silence. Taking it on would be akin to attacking a rhino with a scalpel.
BlaxicanX wrote:

Orks have no doubt, no fear, no crisis of faith, nothing other than the Waaagh, doing Gork and Mork's bidding and smushing the other side. They reproduce in their thousands every time one is killed, violence and conflict causes them to grow in power, anything they build will work because they believe it will.
And the important bit, they have no civilians, no masses of elderly, weak, young to support and protect, the entire billions of them are built to kill and grow and kill. The best rank and file troops the hive mind can construct is the termagant and orks beat the snot out of that. The hive fleets need to consume masses of biomass to keep going, orks need light to keep fueled (symbiotic algae).
There is no contest, if every race got it's shiz together and unified to take the others on, Orks would clean house in short order.

My two cents:
1) The orks vastly outnumber the empire, millions to one. All of them are warriors.
2) The orks have far better technology, and are able to create new weapons on the go. The more orks are together, the more OTT is their technology.
3) The orks can recover from heavy casualties pretty fast. It takes days to get a new ork in the battlefield. It take years to do the same with a human.
4) Some orks are incredible cunning, outsmarting the humans.
5) The psychic gestalt of so many orks together will crush all enemy psykers.
6) The orks will have a lot of fun.
From the official background: if the orks ever unite, they will destroy all other factions.

Wow didn't expect so much feedback xD. Apperently nobody even thought of the forces of the adeptus mechanicus. Because they will pump out skittari as fast as the orks pump out orks even if it is on smaller numbers. I heard the commandos argument that is counterd by catachans kasrkin stormtroopers and the rest off those dudes. If you have read mechanicum you know how powerfull a single ordinatti weapon shot can be. (It can take out a titan in one shot.) You got the titans i think that every titan we have will be outnumbered 2 to 1 for them. But we have the imperator we also have knights. We have CUSTODIANS specialised DEATHWATCH they can kill orks many times their own number we have around 1000 leviatans which can shoot leman russ sized explosives. We can use our assasins that also number in the 100 or even 500 to just eradicate every single leader they have. And we can deploy about every techpriest ingenseer we have. That means inexaustible numbers of cybernetica robots. We can construct heavily specialized defenses in no time and have a ingenseer to repair the damage every inch of the line. Along with void shielding tech on huge numbers and a gigantic amount of high ranking medics. We can just heal them every shot our men take hypothetically speaking. And if so much imperium psykers will be gathered the chance that the emperor manifests is as high as gork and mork manifesting.
