So, completing my trio of "Looted X" Killa Kans (previous entries - Looted Lictor and Looted Destroyer ) we have the Looted Crisis Suit. The Tau have always been sort of animesque, so I really wanted to run with that and combine it with a sort of over the top kabuki costume look.

A drone disc became the hat (which I realize looks more like an ashigaru helmet than a samurai helmet, see this? It's my not giving a damn face) and layered strips of plasticard formed the arm and thigh guards. I'd never liked the look of the feet on these suits, so I knew I had to replace them with something looted. I just couldn't think of what to replace them with until I finally had the idea to make geta out of some balsa wood. It fit the style and gave the suit some decent looking feet.

For the weapon I wanted to have some huge over-the-top Final Fantasy-ish gunblade thing and assembled it from old trukk parts and bits from a black ork box.

Both arms had to be worked on since the stock pose was stiff and terrible. The left arm was cut off and rotated and a pointy finger and thumb were built out of plasticard. The right arm's pose is stock, with fingers built from more plasticard to grip the gunblade thingy. The trim on the sode and haidate is actually gold, but it doesn't really come out that well in the photos. Considering his wingmen, I figured the little guy needed a little shine to get some attention.

The red was achieved with a black base coat followed by Scab Red highlighted with Blood Red. As far as I remember....

It helps that I had to take a a number of design classes while getting my theater degree. If I get bored some day I'll scan my costume design project for A Midsummer Night Dream. Titania's dress was based off of an old illustration of the Golden Throne out of the Rogue Trader book. Oberon was 25% H. R. Giger biomechanoid and 75% Baron Harkonnen.
