You give us one shot of the Defiler and its his ass. I know you love to tease us, but this is far far too much.

Like I said I need to do the front over. The rollers area just isnt big enough to look menacing so it's being cut up and sculpted after I do some drawings or find a picture of what I want to do.

HELP: If you guys can find pictures or draw some designs I'm trying to make a void in his chest to grind people up. Rollers that will turn people into blood, flesh, and bone chunks. I want to keep it machine looking for this part.

Yeah I was thinking like the breaching drill. Big toothy gears. I think I'll build a little box to house it and have a smaller piece to work on instead of right on the defiler. Then when done I'll just cut the defiler's front up and sculpt around the box.

Got more clay slapped onto the defiler today. It was still wet so I didn't want to place him on my photo background cloth for good shots and also had to use the flash so some of the detail texture is obscured. After making the roller rack and modeling around it he is very top heavy. I thought, "ok, I'll beef up the legs" and I did a bit. I like how big he is becoming and looking at him next to my nurgle model I imagine him with boils and pustules and an engorged belly. I'll let this cure tonight and add the belly tomorrow. Then I'll detail the body with gross stuff, then armor goes on. My super sculpey should come in the mail by then.

He's not pretty but you can see what I'm going for.

Did a bit more bulking out. I think I've gone a bit off track and really not liking the grinder. And even with armor I still don't think he fits. But here's what I finished tonight. I'll stop here unless you think it should still be in the army or if I should just throw him in the trash lol. I should have sketched him out first instead of winging it. SIGH..I think the rest of him looks good but I think putting lips around the grinder just made him look like a funny toy. I'm really up for any ideas. I can rip the front apart easy. The clay is really easy to work with.

That looks horrible very good modeling though i think itll look ace when its painted

If it had a head it might look better but I think the hole needs to be round and less squared out.

ok, i dont think the grinder section has worked. However I think the rest of it is simply superb....please dont throw it out!

i cant draw for toffee so i cant draw what i think might look good but i shall describe it if i may?

Firstly you want three 'pillars' with about a one mil gap between each rather than the big gaps you have here. you want them to fill out his 'mouth'. on the pillars you need small pyramid shapes to act as the teeth running down the 'pilars' in straight lines. I think if that gets painted up all rusty like with blood, gore and the occasional leg sticking out it would be Fab.

Ok I tore the lips and rollers out and replaced them with mutated skin. I'm still waiting on mt Super Sculpey Firm polymer clay to arrive which is due on the 26th so in the meantime, I'll WIP the Cadian Command squad. Pictures later today. I've observed this blog while I was working the defiler and it gets less attention with my modeling. So I'll probably only show sculpts when I'm finished with them rather than step by step.

So I'm off to paint!

I damaged the command squad by splashing some airbrush cleaner on them so today was all about stripping and priming.

Worked 3 pieces as soon as the primer was dry to the touch. Was messing with the middle guys face. Just playing with skin tones on him while the 2 on either side only have 2 colors at the moment.

Getting back to it now. I'll update again when finished on clothing and skin for all 5.

Sniper started. First time I painted to simulate shaved hair on this guys head. Turned out nice.

The shaved hair looks good, although it looks a bit too 'blocky'. If you look at someone's shaved head, you can see some of the skin colour through the hair too. Quite how you do this with paint, I don't know....

Stippling perhaps?

Again LBursley fantastic work as usual i'm not convinced on that Defiler yet, but I cant wait to see it with some paint to be able to gather a more formed opinion.

The command squad look nice,I really want to see them all done.

@Inyoka - yeah I noticed that after the pictures were taken. For the technique you are suppose to water down the paint heavily and paint the hair randomly to get a more natural effect. I did the water down thing but I was lacking the random painting. Gonna blend some of the skin tone back and try to soften the line where the grey meets the bare skin.

@ 99MDeery - good to see you back looking through my stuff! I'm giving up on the defiler 1. I think I should have built sparingly onto the original that I posted and my imagination surpassed my modeling skills. Might see if lemming is taking commissions hehe. After all he has mastered what I'm trying to do.

@Deff Dread red Edition : I plan on finishing 1 of the command every night so I can deliver them this weekend with the valkyrie. So now that I'm back in my territory (painting) I should be updating like before. And after this weekend, THE PURGE wip will be steady as I wont be taking commission till finished.

Sniper finished. The cloak was taking longer than usual and I still didn't get it where I would like but I maxed out the hours spent on him so it will have to do.

Was trying to use Liquitex slow dry for wet blending and I didn't like the way it looked so I had to re-base it and do some layer blending.

Thats looks great man can't wait to see this finished. Only thing I would say is dull down that foot, just look at the pic and you'll see what I mean.

I put gloss on the scope lens, boots, and metal parts to better simulate light reflection. In the military we were all suppose to keep our boots shiny and as this is a command squad their boots would be the best.

So it was done glossy on purpose It's a little more depth using gloss, satin, and matte finishes within the mini.
