For the smokestack, I tried to bend some copper tube with a 90 degree bend, but it just crimped, and didn't look right, so I have to figure out a different approach. I might have to sculpt it. We'll see.

Anyway, not a whole lot to update, just some press-mold rivets that are curing.


It kind of looks like sapce marine armor right now. I usually press them on where I want them to go, but these are going to be so close together that the tool I sue to press them on kept messing up the one next to it, so I spaced them out, and when they cure, I will remove them and glue them where I want them.

Other than that, just lots of other rivets and other details being added to the hull and such, and gaps being filled. I hope to have the hull ready for an initial cast in a few weeks. The initial cast is going to be pretty plain apart from the rivets and such, so that I can have a few variants with different wiring designs for different variants of the walker. For instance, some will have more and larger tubing added for the steam powered walker, some will have smaller tubes for a diesel-powered look, and some will have a mass of twisted cable running all over it for the "demon-powered" or "possessed" look. And the demon/possessed walker will have a propper head instead of the cockpit/sarcophogus.

Everyone will hate me but I can't stand that style of spacemarine armor... I don't know what it is about it. But all those little bumps just look wrong...

But I digress...
I think that it is comming along wonderfully and can't wait to see more!

I have a demon head in mind...but it will take some re-working to make it look more machine-like....but that is a ways off.

I don't like that armor either, I mean, where do you put the chapter badge? Don't get me started.

I like alittle pre planning. But whats the point when it all goes in the garbage as the project grows?
It's like how LoTR was written. Start to end. He didn't know where it was going. It was an adventure for him as well.

Keep it loose and free and let the projects grow as they dictate and things will look natural. If we're all to uptight and don't let them change then things look posed and fake..

Anyway, I got the boiler tank almost to the point of casting, just a few more rivets. The press mold method of riveting does produce nice rounded rivets, but it takes longer. Just FYI.



And the pilot cockpit/sarcophogus is just about done too.


I got a bunch of rivets on one of the leg joints too, and more details here and there. I'm still hopeful to have most of it done by the end of April, but we'll see.

Thank Dave! I figured it was something like that. I just like making fun of. I think I deserve it. When I was 7, my birthday was on Easter, and again when I was 14. I thought it was really cool, and an honor to share such a wonderful holiday. But it has never happened again, and I have soured on the whole thing.

Vik, the sarcophogus is just about ready, yes. The tank will be cast, and then used to make at least two different styles of steam engine.
