yeah,
So I recently did a trade with a friend who wanted rid of his Necrons.

I got;
80 warriors
20 scarab bases
4 metal lords
7 destroyers (plus 3 metal upgrades to make lords)
1 metal catan

I've added;
5 more scarab bases (via trade)
3 spyders
2 ghost arcs
2 scythes

Which will bring the army to between 2500pts and 3000pts depending on upgrades.
The plan is simple get them all painted with in two or three days. a couple of weeks!

Ready Steady GO!
Next update warriors assembled...

Speedcrons, i like
On the plus side, where everything in this army is unified in colours it should be quite a smooth production line style.

yeah you can make that as either the doom scythe (death ray) or the night scythe (troop transport)

Sharazad is helping me, we have a production line set up and are half way through clipping all the warriors and scarabs.
I have spray paints bought and the colour is going to be the same for everything.

currently scraping off mould lines and connection points.... boring!!!

As much as I'm interested in following this, your 'signature' is irritating. At least get rid of the ellipsis - sometimes I mistake it as part of the post.

Looking forward to seeing how these turn out! Working my way through a Necron army myself, not as quickly as I would have liked but it is comming on ok, 1500pts so far!

yeah,
So at the start of day three heres how it stands.

We've worked about 18hours and achived what seems like very little!!
78 Warriors - 95% assembled
3 spyders - 90% assembled
100 scarabs clipped from sprue and cleaned up
5 deathmarks clipped from sprue
5 destroyers and 1 destroyer lord clipped from sprue and cleaned up

I just need to put the heads on the warriors.
The spyders weapon and gloom prism will be magnatised.
Not sure if I'll bother with the mini fabricator arms, the model doesn't realy need them, and i can always magatise a couple to swap out in the gloom prism slot... I can decide that later.
the rear pods are not glued shut just blue tac'ed in place...
I'll thinking I'll spray thepod insides white and ink green and see how it looks.

It's not in the sig, it's written in the post body.

I thought the idea of a sig was where the sig was supposed to go, hence if you didn't like them you could hide it. Never mind.

Ok end of day 3
- Warriors, Destroyers and Deathmarks built

The Destroyers are magnetised so that I can swap out between heavy and normal destroyers.
uses the immortals tesla guns to extend the gun barrels.

Hopefully tomorrow will see the necrons receiving spray paint and transports... hangover depending!

yeah,

Day4 - I didn't want to glue anything today so I broke out the Sprays and Inks!

Warriors are attached to 2 foot flat rods with double sided tape.
Sprayed black upwards to catch the undersides.
Sprayed drab dark green straight on.
Sprayed grass green from an above angle.

Next was ink tests
I Used black, brown, green & sepia ... - I've not yet bought the current versions of these-

There was a fifth test colour... Vallejo black wash.
But I didn't like it. turned out too dry and flaky.
Spoiler:

So yeah I havn't decided on which colour to do them in they al seem ok...
I could do all 4 and use the shades to separate squads... might look a little 'army men' though...

I'm kinda taken with the green - I like the idea of green green Necrons with green glowy weapons.
What do you think?

Panic...

i vote for the redish sepia. It adds a nice contrast.

I'd have to go with Gryphonne Sepia, but then a table full of glowing green necrons would be cool

I concur, Gryphonne Sepia offers a better contrast but I do quite like the idea of green too. Having harder time trying to picture it on some of the larger models though.

Personally I thought the green wash looked nice, it gave the model less of a old, dirty look (which granted Necrons probably should have) and made them look really sort of..."Alien and deadly", I dont know...It makes sense in my head.

You started without me!

Oh well - looking good, and I'll steal any ideas for MY quick necrons afterwards

I DO rather like the bright bright green ones - you'll need a decent contrasting base colour though. Earth tones would work, but a different primary like reddish bases would make the green pop even more...
