So far i've mostly read about skilled swordsman, slicing and dicing, dodging and slinking around like nimble cats injected with roids. Then we have the guys rolling deep with just bolters, often i hear about extra strength exploding rounds tearing through the torso's of lesser enemies, because not many can bear the might of Astartes or there giant bullets. Then of course the combat knife, ect ect.

Now i have finally come across my favorite weapon. If i was an Astartes wearing a full set of power armor i would absolutely love a power fist. The blunt strength that it produces amazes me. Crushing armor and tanks beneath it. Instead of exploding chest cavities we have chest cavities being smashed to pieces and bone dust. All from a simple calculated swing of your enlarged glowing lightning engulfed fist.

My questions are: is the power fist custom fitted to fit the armor, does the armor come with ports to attach it? How is it powered?

Most importantly; what is everyone else favorite weapon? Ranging from melee to small arms (you know what i mean) to explosives and launchers.

I would assume the power fist runs off the Space Marine's backpack. And my favorite weapon is definitely the thunder hammer.

Melee: Power Weapon, preferably sword
Small-arms: Bolt Pistol
Primary: Bolter
Semi-Heavy: Melta Gun
Heavy: Missile Launcher

Missile launchers, cant get enough of them great versitility killing tanks or large groups of infantry and make a great sound when you repeatedly smack them into someones face in close combat!

I love my Thunderhammers hence why i have 20 TH/SS terminators.

If I had a 2nd choice it would be the plasma cannon.

Thunderhammer is prob my 2nd favorite. Same concept as a power fist.

Pulse rifle, definitely. If I'm able to get in a Crisis suit, I'd have 2 burst cannons, for more dakka!

I've always liked plasma weapons, particularly Plasma Cannons. Coincidentally have just finished painting up a dreadnought armed with just such a weapon. Itching for thursday night at the LGS to try it out, hopefully will help me fair better if I play those dastardly Dark Eldar and their myriad lightly armoured vehicles again.

@munkyphunk: If you're playing against Dark Eldar with lots of skimmers, I'm going to assume that they are rocking several dark lances, which will put the hurt on your dreadnought. In any event, I think you'll find that the Assault Cannon is a wonderful weapon for popping skimmers. The range can be an issue, but 4 shots as S6 with pinning doesn't suck!

On Topic: I've always been a fan of lightning claws. Their ability to rip through armored marines is amazing, plus you can take a squad with 2 lightning claws per model and they look pretty sweet. Yeah. I like me some claws. They also go great on a Marshal (Black Templars) with a Storm Shield and Adamantine Mantle. That's easily my favorite Black Templar HQ loadout.

Thanks Kronk, always happy to take some advice. But I should have specified its a chaos dreadnought. So alas the assault cannon isn't an option

Melee weapon: chain fist! Power fist and chain sword in one, what's not to love?

Ranged: Assault cannon and Reaper Cannon.

Transport: there can only be the Land Raider!

Army: Terminator

Between my railguns, powerfists and demon weapons, I can't really decide. Each is good for different situations.

Lol i can see a power fist and chain fist mixed together, but when you throw in a chainsword its too much

A chain fist is a power fist with a chainsword taped to the back of it, so that you're punching someone with a chainsword. Wrapped in a power field.

Harlequin's kiss. There is something beautifully gruesome about this weapon.

Favourite playing weapon has to be mind shackle scarabs, but nothing can beat a giant hammer with force field as an idea.

Another vote for Lighning claws here, but I do love plasma weapons - although I personally would be too cowardly to use one...

You know how a sayin goes "in a knife fight... you're going to get cut"? I wonder if they have one for powerfists

Although I do love me power fists, thunder hammers, lightning claws ect.... I'd have to say the single weapon that seems to never disappoint me is the thunderfire cannon. 60" range multi ammo quad blast? Yes please!

Once you go Plasma, you will never go back.

Its Plasma Weapons for me. The only Weapon better for killing MEQs is the Chem Cannon.

Thunder Hammer without a doubt.

Like power fists/weapons, but the energy field is stored until the head hits something and is released in a massive blast wave of energy.

So i've heard, but its cumbersome and bulky, with a devastating killing blow... i'd rather have something reliable. Ie powerfist, a mere extension of my own hand

Melee: Power Weapon, Preferable an Axe
Pistol: Plasma
Primay: Plasma Gun
Heavy:Conversion Beamer, I will JAck you up, Just try to get Close, I dare ya.

I've got to say that fluff wise my favourite is the thunder hammer, looks wise too. Game wise, the combi-flamer has a special place in my heart, especially when used by Sternguard Veterans, that gun becomes a horde killing machine.
