I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, and trust me, I have been lurking about dakkadakka for quite a long time, in particular at the News forums, but havn't registered before. Anyway, now I did this because I wanted to spread the word about this KS campaign by RBG.

If you haven't heard about Tre Manor or Red Box Games before, go and check out his online store. He has created amazing miniatures, and are among the best in the business ( imo): http://red-box-games.com/

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time... |

Tre's a great guy, WILDLY talented, and I love his stuff.
If I had ANY use for these, I'd go all in @ the $60 level.
As it sits, I'll wait and see what the stretch goals and other rewards are. If he puts something in there that I can use, maybe I'll still sponsor it.
Thanks for posting it.

Well, I hope this works out well. I've been very curious to see how Trollcast pans out as a new medium for minis and it's nice to see a smaller company giving it a shot.
I hope Tre can go back and proof read his description...
Also, I know that $5 per model is much cheaper than he can produce these for in metal, but it's still more than I'd like to see them as plastic. I was hoping they'd be closer to $3, but I understand that the guy's gotta eat and from what I've heard Trollcast has a higher start-up cost than traditional metal casting. It's nice that it gets to $4 per model at the higher volume though, but I still remember when you could get metal models from GW for $4 each... seems like forever ago... Really, I remember when you could get metal for much less than that too, but that's a long long time ago.

Really great models, I love the look of them. Between these and AOW, GW really need to keep up with the human chaos guys.. but I have no use for them sadly. I have now got three armies (gobbos, dwarves, SM) and no desire to start a fourth.
And if it wasn't for dakka and kickstarter, I would still be on one army instead of three!

Yay for another miniature company moving away from metal as a means to LOWER prices.
That said - he needs to clean up the text on his kickstarter page. I noticed a few errors even on a cursory skim (like insure vs. ensure) and he calls it "Trollsforge games," when I'm pretty sure it's Trollforged.
I hope he broadens the perks too, as I have no interest in the HelsVakt Gynnade Krigare, but would be eager to kick in for some of his other models.

Better than $40 for 5, which is what they were in metal. I think it's great that Tre is trying to bring the models to the gamers at a better price, but it's still higher than I'd like to see.
But, hey, even if it's too much for me, at least there are around 150 people who like that price point and are able to fund this kickstarter. I think it will be harder for small companies like RBG to keep the stretch goals flowing like we saw from Mantic and the games from Cool Mini or Not, but if they can keep putting up enticing goals, then this will steamroll past that initial target easily and hopefully fund lots more awesome minis in Trollcast. $5 for a rank-in-file model isn't too interesting, but if he gets to some of his character models and can get them to the $6 price range or lower then that would be awesome. And Goblins...he's got some great goblin minis that would sell like hotcakes if they were really inexpensive.

Word is it will be a war staff for the warriors:
As per Tre on Dragonpainting.net:
"Many thanks everybody! I am working on the art for the first stretch goal as it is not somethign I have sculpted yet. I want to take advantage of the momentum created by the Gynnade footmen so I am going to post the War Staff ( 2 heroes, a champ, a musician, and a standard bearer. ) as the first stretch goal. "

Tre has updated his KS with the first stretch goal!
SUCCESS!!! Many many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the success of this kickstarter. I am totally amazed and overwhelmed by how quickly we went through that first goal. I honestly did not expect it to succeed that fast if at all! Thank you all VERY much!
Now that the first set is funded I would like to introduce the first stretch goal. This goal is to fund the production of the Gynnade Krigare War Staff. Included in the War Staff set are three non modular models cast in the same resin plastic hybrid as the Gynnade Krigare. These models are a Champion, a Horn Bearer, and a Standard Bearer.
If we reach the stretch goal of $15,000 then the War Staff will be included in every " Tredje " level Pledge. So this will mean that IF the first stretch goal is successful all Tredje level pledges will include 15 bodies fitted for universally interchangeable Head / helms, 3 sprues of right hands with weapons ( 1 sword, 2 axes, and 2 maces ) and 3 sprues of left hands with weapons ( 1 sword, 1 dagger, 1 axe, 1 mace, and 1 hammer ), 15 left hands with shields, 3 closed face helm option sprues, 3 open faced helm option sprues ( 30 options total. ), 1 Champion, 1 Horn Bearer, and 1 Standard Bearer for a total of 18 figures. After the kickstarter this will be a $75.00 set.
The War Staff can also be purchased individually by selecting the " Hero Set " pledge option.
Pictured below are the concept art for the Gynnade Kriagre Champion, Horn Bearer and Standard Bearer. These designs are subject to change as need to insure ideal production, but I don't think that there will eb any need to make any changes. I hope you will like them!
Framfor Allt Gynnade Krigare
If these are successful there are more yet to come!
Cheers!
Tre'
p.s. I apologize that this update took so long to post. Truth be told my head is swimming from how quickly the funding goal was reached!
I must admit his "Norse" nomenclature isn't the easiest to follow here, but it seems like a decent deal. Hopefully he'll be adding to it (I understand the pledge level to be $60, so we're looking at $4 per model base). Automatically Appended Next Post: Please also note his update about the units and the $110 pledge level.
Ah! Proper Wording can be tricky! The new Pledge level " Battle Party " refers to 2 units. Each Unit is described as it is updated. But the only units eligible for this pledge level are the units which have successfully funded. So for now only the Gynnade Krigare are eligible for choice as the reward for this pledge level. Further the description of the unit can change as stretch goals are reached.
For Example: As of now 1 Gynnade Krigare unit consists of 15 modular kits ( this includes 3 sets of 5 bodies ( 15 total ) fitted for universally interchangeable Head / helms, 3 sprues of right hands with weapons ( 1 sword, 2 axes, and 2 maces ) and 3 sprues of left hands with weapons ( 1 sword, 1 dagger, 1 axe, 1 mace, and 1 hammer ), 15 left hands with shields, 3 closed face helm option sprues, 3 open faced helm option sprues ( 30 options total. ).
However if the first stretch goal is reached this will then be added to with one Champion, one Standard Bearer, and one Horn Bearer. Bringing the total number of figures in the unit to 18.
So 2 units of the Gynnade Krigare would include 30 figures right now and 36 figures after the first stretch goal is reached.
I have to say, Tre, you make great models, but you could really use a proof-reader. A "unit" is 15 guys, but that's 3 of the base "Gynnade Krigare", which is what you get at $25. So you get a "unit" at $60, the "Tredje" pledge level.
Or so I think.

I love Tre's models as well, have bought a bunch of them and he's also a great guy to deal with, but wow, fairly big jump for the first stretch goal (from $5k to $15k) and a reasonably large minimum pledge to be part of the stretches.
I'd probably be into it if I were building a WHFB warriors of chaos army, but I'd just be looking at getting a small number of figures for boardgame characters/roleplay.
I'll keep my eyes on this KS with interest, though.

Nice to see the first stretch goal up, but I agree that it doesn't seem to have that wow factor that will entice a lot more people to jump on board.
People who already pledged $60 don't really have any motivation to do anything different and for someone who hasn't already pledged it probably isn't enough to push them over the edge.
If this stretch goal was for $10K, then I wouldn't see much of an issue as the momemtum was already there, but at $15K, it's going to take longer to get there if at all. Right now at $9,262 there needs to be 95ish people to come in and make a $60 pledge to hit the stretch goal. I think it'll get there eventually, but this kickstarter's momentum might suffer.
That being said, this is still a sucessful kickstarter, so congrats to Tre. He might not even be interested/prepared to slap tons of stretch goals on there anyway, so as long as he's happy, then that's the important thing.

Hey Guys,
The most important thing to me at this point is to deliver on my promises. Making a lot of money is fanatastic but doing anything to jeopardize the confidence of my customers is not worth it.
I have learned that making a successful kickstarter is a lot like winning a chess game. You must always think in terms of the next series of moves, the greater the number of moves ahead the better. My first mistake was the limited scope of the first offering. This meant that I could not offer as many rewards for pledge levels. My second mistake was in not using the first stretch goal to introduce items which WOULD allow me to expand the rewards. I can expand them further once this stretch goal is successful but I have to wait for that to happen first. My third mistake was in misjudging the momentum and the math required to fund the reward / production. I estimated that the costs to get the War Staff made and in to the existing sets was such that I need to get to $15000 to do it without cutting in tot he profits from the original goal. I think this was a mistake in that if the goal is reached faster then the margin will increase once those parts are available as rewards for new pledge levels.
Another mistake was in not introducing a goal reward that broadens the scope of the audience. Like so many have said thus far; "This is great but I have no interest in an Evil Barbarian Army. "
While I originally intended to fund the retool of all of the most recently released figures first and THEN move into other existign parts from my line, I think I would better serve the overall goal to introduce those other parts NOW and then go back to the first theme at intervals between other themes.
So now I hope that I won't be making another mistake if I try to correct this misstep. I am going to have to have a chat with Ed to see what we can manage.

Tre, it sounds like you're heading in the right direction. I've heard of kickstarters that get out of hand and the companies end up losing money on them because they didn't count all the costs involved, so I'm glad to hear you are trying to plan ahead.
I'm not sure how much freedom you have to add new pledge levels, but maybe you could put a pledge level that grants store credit for your website so people could maybe pledge $20 to get $30 in store credit. You could make it limited to a certain amount of rewards so it doesn't get out of control, but that would be a way for people to support the kickstarter even if they aren't interested in this specific offering.
Maybe you could reach out to Necros to pick his mind since he ran a sucessful kickstarter for Blackwater Gulch?
