The Deimos Pattern Predator Infernus is an ancient pattern of Predator believed to date back to the hallowed days of the Great Crusade, which has now largely been replaced by the Land Raider Redeemer in many Chapters. The Crimson Fists, Fire Lords and Subjugators, among others, still value its close-range firepower when combating such xenos hordes as Orks, and in particular it is seeing resurgence amongst those Chapters confronting the Tyranid menace.

Certain ancient data sources speculate that the Predator Infernus was an attempt to replicate the Baal Predator STC, stubbornly held by the honoured Blood Angels and their successors, and the same conjectural sources imply the superiority of this latter design in terms of speed, armour and armament. The Machine Cult of Mars’ gall at the Blood Angels’ refusal to release this precious relic is widely known, and so the Infernus boasts a fearsome armament in the form of a turret-mounted Flamestorm cannon, often replaced with the anti-armour potency of a Magna-melta, a devastating weapon originally intended for void-war boarding actions. Regardless of turret loadout, the Infernus is usually additionally equipped with sponson-mounted heavy bolters or heavy flamers.

The Deimos Pattern Predator Infernus, designed by Will Hayes, is a detailed resin and plastic complete kit that contains two different turret weapon options, a Magna-Melta and a Flamestorm Cannon, and two different sets of sponson weapons, Heavy Flamers or Heavy Bolters. Heh, unfortunately, they don't list the heavy flamer sponsons as an option on their rules...heavy bolters and lascannons.

On facebook the question of the heavy flamer was asked and they came back and said they were going to fix it, so it looks like the lascanon will be replaced by the heavy flamer.

Wow.. large blast melta. I guess the natural balance to that is that you have to get pretty close with its range being less than a multimelta.

Sure, if you want the Melta effect. I see this being used more often as an anti-2+ save weapon, though.

Put the Magna-Melta on a Baal Predator and you're set. Beyond the rules/legality anyway...

This is just more FW preparing for their Horus Heresy game. They have HH-era Land Raiders, Predators, and Dreads now.

I hope they release a Stormbird one day, even though it will be $2,000.

I love the trend of round turret Preds, and the twin cannon one here is great. Too bad it all comes with the FW pricing as well. I really love their stuff, but just cant take the prices.

well, they got round to adding heavy flamer sponsons to the rules.

Magna-melter's quite nice, but I cant take them in my chaos army anyway. I love the sponson and armour styles, but not overly keen on the turret

It's more of a case that the Magna-Melta didn't exist when Vulkan's rules were published.

This suffers from the same costing issues every other predator does, short range non fast vehicles are also suffering pretty badly in sixth. Neat concept, not useful.

Yeah, sure, I thought he TL'd all melta weapons, that's where I was coming from. Thinking about the wording now though I think I recall it saying Mg's, MM's flamers and HF's, not specifically anything with the melta rule. No codex to check.

Large blast seems a bit much... especially with the 6th edition changes to blasts.
The devil dog is a bigger tank and Its melta cannon is a small blast.
