Anyone know how to make or buy good warhammer lava bases?

the easiest way is to use cork board, and break it up.. You then glue the pieces to the base leaving space between the broken pieces.. Paint everything black, paint the gaps between the cork with yellows, oranges and reds.. Then dry brush the cork using codex grey. fortress grey and skull white.. Its pretty simple process to do.. If you want pics, I might be able to do it really quick..

as said before, buy cork, rip it up and paint.
however i would suggest white priming and then start painting from light yellow over orange, red, brown to black. basically many dry brushing steps with gradually darker colors.
results in bases like this one:

I can highly recommend the Dark Arts bases( http://www.darkartstore.darkartminiatures.com/categories/THEMED-BASING/Lava/ ), here are a couple of pics of my Salamanders using them:

I also used the DarkArts bases and can wholeheartedly recommend them. Good quality, only a little clean-up required and quite cheap.

Cheers
