Thanks. Stay tuned on the Possessed City. Progress has been slow, but I've cooked up a few interesting ideas.

Meanwhile...
So, I'm experimenting with the Herald of Tzeentch on a chariot. To convey both "chariot" and "jetbike" (since the creature moves as a jetbike), I'm trying to sculpt something suggesting lines of Tzeentchian Warp Force elevating and accelerating the ruins of the sentinel cab. Specifically, unspooling/writhing/coiling wire, lashing forward, which I will paint in shades of icy blue/white (tying the look of the thing, I hope, to the other Tzeentchian models in the army -- the Lord of Change, the Soul Grinder, the Flamers, the Horrors).

So far that idea, translated into metal and plastic, looks like this:

and:

and:

I'm not sure whether the effect will work or not, to tell the truth. I'll try braiding in a bit more effect using greenstuff, particularly near the "stems" of wires. And shade each strand, when I paint it, to white at the tips.

I doubt I'll know how I feel about it all until I've painted it. So I'll reserve judgement. I figure if the end result at least has a dynamic composition, the thing will work well enough.

I've also toyed with the idea of having something at the end of the stalks -- heads or eyes or something. But I can't really picture that working. I don't know.

Feedback would be welcome on this. Thanks for looking.

I think the effect will work just fine, think of it like the legs on a centipede, or the scales of a snake, the reason those animals cna move so fast is many limbs working in unison, I see the same thing happening here, where, the vehicle is in constant high speed fluid motion, never without limbs touching the ground or pushing forward...

While brooding on what direction to take with the chariots, I've been fussing with the Skulltaker project.

I was wondering whether the creature was getting to be over-the-top and a bit silly. "Nonsense," people replied. "He's Skulltaker. He's supposed to be over-the-top." And you know what? They're right.

So I took him even further over the top. I gave him a "pet" victim to play with in that upraised set of claws:

Another angle:

And then I worked in some viscera, to make the effect even redder and gorier:

Some other angles (which show some other work on the creature as well):

I kind of like the way the creature seems to be just casually decapitating its victim by flicking its claws:

The effect is vivid, cluttered, pretty grotesque and maybe more cartoony than I like. But at least it has a mood to it:

To finish the thing off, I need to work on its mouth area, the sides of the torso, and the horns jutting from its legs. Little things here and there. Some clean-up. And the base needs more stuff.

It's getting there, though.

Thanks for looking.

Moar Heer!

I've just about finished the sculpting on Skulltaker (on a juggernaut).

Still a bit of clean-up here and there, I suppose, but he's just about ready to be primed.

He turned out to be a bit shaggier than I intended:

I suppose that's because the currents of the Warp course so strongly through the creature:

After all, as more than one critic suggested, "He's Skulltaker. He's supposed to be over-the-top.

Let me know what you think.

Looking great, as usual. I have to say though, at this point I wish you would build something big without Sentinel legs for a change.

@Anung: I know, right? I just keep finding new ways to twist those things up!

@Leone: Thanks! Steal away, by all means!

@Ygg: I agree, that's one of my favorite parts of the creature.

@ Rose: Yer sick! Thanks.

Amid other obligations I have been working on painting up my Skulltaker conversion. He's reached this point:

This is still rough, still very much in progress...

But I've got the basic scheme and base coats done...

And things are getting to the point where I do like the skin tones:

Now I just need to keep fiddling with it: doing the little veins and wounds, highlighting the metal parts and cables, touching up here and there.

Thanks for looking.

Progress on this project has been fitful and scattered. I'm working on about five different things at once. A.D.D.? Or the inscrutable machinations of Tzeentch?

Perhaps it's the latter, for among other things, I've been experimenting with ideas for conversions representing Screamers.

These creatures need to look like "Screamers" -- meaning, like daemonic "sky-sharks" (as the Codex puts it) that move as jetbikes and attack with Warp Jaws (daemonic melta bombs). And then, of course, I want them to look like the rest of the Harrowed, i.e., like elements of an Imperial Guard regiment possessed by chaos.

For awhile a solution eluded me. But I think I'm working my way toward something I like. Starting with:

and working my way toward:

Here are some closeups of the prototype I like best:

and

and

and

I'll do a little more greenstuffing to knit the eyeballs into the casing.

But I like how they're shaping up. The "jaws" look fierce, and the models have (I hope) a swirling, lashing kind of energy to them.

Thanks, as always, for looking, and for any input or suggestions you feel like offering.

I love all these models, the GS is fantastic. Do you role the GS to make all the strands or do you sculped it out of one big piece. I really want to try this on my nurgle dread, just waiting to buy some more GS, also waiting for an update on your models
