Thanks! I don't know if anyone noticed, I worked on the horse's mask and tried to make it look more like a stylized skull, not like the skull on the limited model. I thought about painting it in bone color like the grenadiers' masks ...

And yeah, I guess I'll try a bit thicker mud.

And that no one noticed makes it an even better conversion. I'm not that up on the horses masks and what you've done looks professional, thought it was stock.

Hallo. I just found this log yesterday and have been reading it judiciously ever since. Your Korps are amazing.
(You may now consider your barbed wire and mud techniques to be a major part in my own regiment.)

I have only one qualm. TOO FEW HADES. And battle reports....

Anyhow. In regards to the Mounted Commissar, I'll throw in my two cents and state that when a horse gallops through the mud, it tends to get quite a lot of splattering on it's chest, belly, and legs. Not to mention that any horse behind it is going to be covered in the stuff. Even while simply walking, horses kick up plenty of dirt, just think about it in wet conditions, and with a mass of horses used in a cavalry charge. (Think dirt and grime up to the necks of the horses and near everywhere else.)
Only fresh horses would have mud on their legs and nowhere else.

However that's not a problem, as all your Death riders are in very relaxed positions, and look very alert. They haven't just finished a battle, and they aren't in the middle of one, so they must just be getting ready.

What I do think is that the Commissar's steed has too little definition, simply because of the pure white coloring, which makes it look rather.. flat, and without detail on the flanks. Perhaps do as Disjointed Entity said with the dark wash, I think it would help pick out the muscles and give some character to the rest of the body.

I got some spare parts from eBay, including two banners! YEAH!



I still have no good idea what to do with the upper part of the tank hull, where the turret sits. So I continued with the Death Riders for now:

Yep. I can't use a lot of it, but it was a nice price and I'd have paid the same amount for even only one of the flags!

If you can't use a lot of it, I'll be more than happy to pay you a fine price for krieg bits. Mostly arms, since the bulk of my rank and file troops are gorgon troopers, and some of their arms got really messed up in cutting them apart.

Haha, sorry, I think I'll keep the arms. What I find useless are the huge amounts of shovels, pouches and backpacks. :(

UPDATE:

Ironically, this weekend there was a tournament at one of the thousand horse stables here in our little village. I was woken up by marching music (YEAH!) and this annoying commentator and had to listen to this sh*t the whole weekend. So I fled the house for some hours yesterday and today. Thus, I couldn't finish the Riders, as I had hoped to.

Those horses are fantastic. I just can't stop looking at them, even though I'm in Lexington right now and I've seen enough horses to last me for months!

I overestimated the time this week that I would have to sit down and paint. My bike got stolen so that was a lot of paperwork and also cost me roughly an hour more or so to get to work everyday.

But finally, they are done!!
