I'm also from the toxic filth-covered deathlands near the Sump but I have a distinct appreciation for the other elements of life and society in the Underhive. Your models already have a strong "Mega-City One" meets (insert name of any low-to-mid budgeted 1980's punk apocalypse movie) feel about them and I think that is excellent. Your Eschers will make living below the Wall look good.

That's pretty much what I'm going for

I agree usually with the filth and grime take in a setting like Necromunda, but Eschers, I kinda feel like they would be the most flamboyant and individually well off of the houses. They are drug dealers of a kind, I kinda figure them being flashy and blowing their credits on neon... as opposed to the metal workers of the Goliaths or the Wasteland scavenger Orlocks. Most of em are gonna be gritty, with the orlocks plan on pushing that worn leather and dust look a lot, but for Escher, something about them says not so subtle... plus their yellow bodice is kinda iconic for me .

Thanks for the comments!

Alright, Imma call these done... wow the Eschers were significantly more time than the Goliaths, between the much expanded palette and lots of extra detail vs the boys they were much more of a slog to get through.

Took some slightly better pics, but still iPhoning it in, sooner or later I will set up a proper shoot again. Overall have been enjoying this dip back into intentional tabletop land, nice to just power through.

So here we go, just gonna pic blast -

Thanks guys... wish there was a way to post the pics bigger than 600px wide but smaller than native... horizontal format is not hugely helping here is it... srry you have to select the image to see much!

Brilliant work on both gangs. The disparity of appearance between the two gangs truly showcases your painting skill.

Thanks dude, hoping to give each gang their own flavor, not just in color scheme but in texture and mood too. In this case I wanted goliaths to be dark and dingy workers, not neccesarily dirty, just utilitarian and straightforward. The eschers are meant to be bratty drug dealers, generally living in more extravagant conditions even if it is only appearances. Nice clothes, gakky apmt type thing

Anyways thanks for looking! Again, apologies for the sub-optimal pic sizes for Dakka, clicking on them and zooming is better.

Knocked out Gor Half-Horn now, had fun with it. Initially, I made his armor reflective nmm but thought better of it lol, I can blend but I don't properly understand the forms. Besides, I prefer him this way, looking like a mutated IG renegade with cobbled together armor, also let me put a few freehand symbols on. Pretty happy with the result, tabletop again -

Got the other 3 bounty hunters on the way and a box of orlocks... waiting for it to warm up before I can start on the terrain (planning a LOT of spray can work).

Srry about the iPhone photos again!

Your definition of tabletop still differs vastly from mine . Excellent work!

I think there needs to be a name for something above tabletop but below competition/display lol... Tabletop+ ?

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Theres something about that model that just doesn't do it for me. Not your paint job or anything, but the model itself. Might be his big dumb pistol thing. I like your overall theme, the IG armor theme is really cool. Bring up questions of how he got it.

I think your "tabletop" is still a display level, it's just not competition level. Though I do see several mold lines. Slacker

Yeah the Plasma Pistol (which I didn't even realize was a Plasma Pistol til I read it) is definitely a... departure. On the one hand, it is a bit too big and not recognizable instantly for what it is... on the other, It is nice to have something different too. Not ideal but interesting I guess I would say

Re-mold lines - I see one on top of the gun I missed, and the horn, which is just a complete bastard to sand being so tiny and ridged lol... plus I'm gettin old and my eyes are not what they were lol! I can live with em... tabletop.

I like the Plasma Pistol because it can be from any era in the last 30,000 years and with the countless billions of industrial settlements, forge worlds, etc there's no limit to the shape and appearance of any given weapon. This looks like a Laspistol that was heavily converted to be a much more powerful weapon. Custom pistol? Mass produced on and obscure forge world? Hard telling. But I think it is a cool model.

re: tabletop standard- it's a common phrase with as many definitions as applications. It is as meaningless as the "pro painted" tag on eBay, but it completely makes sense to me when I'm describing my models. Not sure if that makes sense, but it does to me... hence tabletop.

I'd like to think modded or archeotech... I don't think Gor would ever be able to leave Necromunda or return, being a Beastman. Not without exceptional effort anyways. Given his limited resources, I would think those would be the only options.

One thing I love about Necromunda is the variety you can run through and still have the motivator of 'painting to game' (even if you never actually game lol). The water vampire... the guilds... I'm lovin it. I am gonna dig out that out FW enforcer with cyber mastiff show exclusive I have hiding somewhere next I think...

Brilliant work, not a fan of the model, but excellent paint work and love the concept behind the painting.

Agree with most that your definition for tabletop, is beyond many of us mere mortals. But I understand what your saying, after all, if I could paint half as good as you, I would have whole armies to this level.

huh, people dont seem to like the sculpt, but i love it. pistol and sword minis are so much fun to paint. they are usually chest open and you get the best of both worlds! im a fan of it. great painting too.

Eh, Tabletop can also refer to the style of painting. One paints for the tabletop or for the display case. Techniques that work well for display painting really don't look very good on the tabletop in many instances, NMM for example. Extreme contrasts are another. Tabletop style needs to have minis that have details easily seen under all manner of lighting conditions --unlike display style-- and are discernible from all angles. Display style minis tend to be viewed best from a few angles. Both styles can be competition level. I say this as someone who has done a lot of paint judging.

Maybe gamepiece quality is the better term for what you're saying. The gorn is better than gamepiece quality.

Hired Guns arrived! Adding in the FW event exclusive Imperial Enforcer and Cyber Mastiff, and a John Blanche model who definitely has a Necromunda vibe... The enforcer is very short compared to the other models, the Blanche model is very tall lol... still, looking forward to attacking these ones too -

Yes it did... small digestible amounts of minis to paint in lots, variety of different looks to take on. As a painter, it's fun. And like I said I am not going nuts on them, just enjoying them, which is a nice change too.

Plus the game itself seems pretty fun -

Plus I have obsessive tendencies when it comes to my hobbies lol :/
