Thanks man

Glueing it down isn't going to be fun I think... look at those tiny paws... even pinning could be tough :S

I think that's about the best painted cybermastiff I've seen. Nicely done.

I said it was the best I've ever seen... I didn't say that you couldn't do better!

Man... more than 2 years since I've painted anything!

It will probably be quite a while til anything else, but I had the urge to get one done. It's something a bit diff than my usual, a Gobbo Loonboss on giant cave squig! Gobbos were some of the first minis I every painted anything approaching well as a kid, and that was a minute or two ago lol, since then, not much fantasy.

So here it is, tried a few new things on this one, some higher end drybrushing, some NMM (I never actually finished an NMM model before), some Milliput on sculting on the base and some heavy, heavy environmental lighting.

The model is very much painted as lit from a sunlight like source on the one side and having some dark, ambient purple bouncelight on the other. It actually worked pretty well, on par with the Van Gogh bust a few pages ago, but the way I shot it looking at it now I realize there was too much direct light on the model itself, which kinda throws off the painted lighting on the shade side a bit. Might take a diff pic later but I hope you can still see enough of it to get the idea.

Blah blah, here is the model, thanks for looking guys -

I like it Tom. There are a lot if interesting things scattered all about the model. The shading of the hind quarters of the beast, the colors reflected in the sabatons, the way you did the speckles, the riot of color on the armor plates. Lots to look at.

It looks good, Tom!

Just so you know: the Loonboss that you painted? He'll take parts from the one that comes with the Mangler Squig really well...y'know, in case you want to build him with a sword for the other profile.

Thanks man! Yeah there is a lot going on, almost like doing it twice between the lit and shaded side, the armor on the shaded side in particular was very 'experimental'. I dig how it came out color wise, but if I was being really nit-picky the armor is too highly lit on the shade side and could be toned down. But I liked the color purely aesthetically so left it... NMM is not going to be a thing I continue to do, my eyes are not good enough lol, it looks relatively smooth to the naked eye but these zoomed in shots show a heavy hand. I also think you can achieve very similar nuance with metals but have a much more forgiving time smoothing it out. Still, all around it was quite fun to paint! Thanks for noticing the little things

You mean the moon shaped sickle -sword looking ones? The Cutta I believe?

Indeed I do! I couldn't remember the name offhand, but did some conversion work for someone who wanted it...ended up not charging them because it was such an easy thing with a few snips/filing!

Actually it comes with that option on the sprue, I am guessing the dude built it for you and you went to the trouble when he could have just given you the bit! I just like the look of the lance better on the model, but I gather the sword/sickle options is better in-game?

That is a beautiful looking model. You've added a lot of character with your painting style. The armour looks tremendous and I'm in awe of it.

Nah. I don't play Gloomspite Gitz.

He wanted the helmeted head shown here on his Cutta Loonboss:
Spoiler:

I probably should have clarified a bit better with my initial post, but I had to dig up the ol' building notebook for the specifics and simply going back+editing the first reply wouldn't be cool. I've started doing a lot of build/converting/sculptwork locally since last we chatted on Xbox years and years ago. After someone tried to argue with a quote being "absurd" relating to 100+ Hormagaunts, saying that I said something totally different in texts/FB messenger. So I started using a notebook and transfer paper after that, just so I have a physical trail.

@Kan, Yeah my only sadness with this model is there wasn't enough exposed goblin skin, the ones I remember all were the super classic goofy face ones -

A few more pics in diff lighting, this is a bit more what it looks like but the shade side is slightly too dark, but I intentionally matched the real light direction with the painted light direction here -

If you can, try to nab one of the Warcry Gloomspite Gitz bundles. It's a set of Squig Hoppers/Boingrot Bounders plus half a box of Sneaky Snufflers(which is super fun to say), for the price of just the Hoppers. Plus the WarCry cards for Gloomspite Gitz and a themed token set for them, but that might not matter to you. Squig Hoppers/Bounders and the Snufflers have some of those goofy faces you're looking for!

Glad to see you're still painting Tom! The latest model looks fantastic and really shows the progress you've made as a painter. Really liking the skin tones on the squig and the nmm on the spear turned out great as well!

Eggsie! Thanks man! I dunno, I am pretty rusty and it was a lot of experimenting but yeah I think it turned out nicely enough, and different enough vs my usual. *runs off to see what Eggsie and been up to - *
