Thank you for looking!

Even though I don't spend nearly as much time on Dakka as I used to, I keep this blog going as it always provides a lot of motivation, and I appreciate all the peeps kind enough to look and comment.

I like that figure. Kind of grungy and semi-official with bright spots of color here and there. The mold lines mean you're human... that's nice to have as a reminder given your normal god-like level of talent and execution.

Yes it does, Gits. Yes indeed.

The Arbites model does look small. It won't matter as much once he's based and not in direct comparison w/ the other models but it's still unfortunate. I was going to answer it away by saying the man has a diminutive stature but it's really just someone's "scale-O-meter" was off that day.

GW3 is a model I need to incorporate into my collection. I enjoy the 40K "wasteland scum" look a lot.

I am gonna fix that damn mold line now lol... the one on the gun holster at least, the horn, feth it, you can't even see it with the naked eye lol!

Little update on the Hired Guns, now all (meticulously) cleaned up and primed, mounted on their rathcore handles and ready to go. Think I'll start with the dog first

Re: scale of Enforcer, yeah it is at least 5 years old, in line with the scale of deathcorp models, so pretty small. It brings into stark contrast the new GW art'ish heroic scale doesn't it... Though, I am gonna paint him as a really old dude lol, so his diminutive stature will make it interesting, he isn't the threat, it's the dog.

Also little update on DeadBolt Derelict MDF terrain, got 5 layers of spray on them - black, espresso, orange, bronze and steel. It was going pretty good til the metals, the flakes are too damn big. Unfortunately this means I am going to have to do more brushwork than I wanted to, but, at least they are sealed and a bit weathered. You can also see the sheer quantity that comes in the Deadbolt Derelict set.

Underhive box terrain there too...

Onwards....

Oh my gosh... did we just harass you into doing more work on a model then you intended to, just to make it better?!

Karma's a b____, isn't it?

Lol oh Gits! Alright you have been waiting a long time for that haven't you, and you earned it brother lol!

I have decided to leave it, picked up the mini today and holy gak you can't see it, on the horn or on the holster from any angle but that one particular one in the shot, and even then you need a magnifying glass lol... IMMA LEAVE IT!!

No real progress on paint today, put a final coat of rustoleum aluminium on the mortalis walls... My scheme to be able to spray only did not pan out, I'm going to have to mix up a few big batches of washes at the least for them. The spray cans don't really allow much in the way of subtlety lol -

OH-I Wanna get out of here

You’re really bringing down your brand here Tom. Imperfections on a model? Even if you can’t see it, you’ll always know it’s there. It will haunt your dreams my friend. Haunt them for all your days.

I'm good. I'm in a volume kinda mode right now, sticking with it! lol, plus, trust me, my stuff looks like it is painted with a brillo pad and nutella compared to some of my buddies... I am all about the imperfections

Just found out my Orlocks and another crapton of Sector Mechanicus stuff showed up... I had this ridiculous idea to magnetize all the sector mechanicus stuff, but the sheer volume is intimidating me. Do any of you guys use Sector Mechanicus? How did you approach the builds? I am sure people don't just glue everything, what's the sweet spot??

If I sigged things that would have been moved to the top of the list.

Is there more to "sector mechanicus" than just the terrain?

How do you mean Gits? Like rules or whatnot? There are some rules surround the stuff for 40k and whatnot, but basically my q is centered around the configuration and methodology of building the terrain. For Necromunda the 3D version is referred to as Necromunda Sector Mechanicus or Necromunda Gang War in some circles.

I didn't realize that Necromunda was called "sector mechanicus". Sorry, been out of the loop on that.

It's not, there is the 2d version of the rules, for the flat zone mortalis style boards, referred to as underhive (after the 2D rules in the starter box) or Zone Mortalis (after the terrain they want you to use and board style of the 2D) or simply 2D, then there is the full 3D version, referred to as Sector Mechanicus to try and sell their terrain for it, or, gang war after the rule book you need to play 3D. Or simply 3D.

It's a bit confusing to explain but if you read the rules it's simple enough.

Nice amount of scatter yerrain - exactly what necromunda needs to prevent it becomingt a pure shooting match IMO Let's see what a 'simple' paintjob will be on those hired guns.

Not where I should be

I think I would try and magnetise, just for the added options, but I am not sure it is necessary. I am afraid I have never got my hands on one of these kits, but should be able to make it modular.

Oh that's not all... have at least one of every sector mechanicus box, the shipping containers, cranes, pipes (both varieties), 5 ferratronic furnaces (need those straights!) and a bunch of the other stuff. It will be an epic amount of terrain... most of it is already prepped too, clipped and sanded etc. I... went a little nuts... lol

Haven't been able to start the painting on the hired guns yet, this weekend I actually played a game instead of painting (fun!) and now my orlocks have arrived too. I think I will paint the hired guns before tackling them... but I'm thinking hardcore mad-max warboys on them... all black and grey and dusty and rusty. Goliaths have a similar palette but going to use warm blacks as opposed to the cool blacks, and see if I can get a worn suede type look going where there is a lot of ochre patches on edges. And figure out how to make the chalky, dusted skin look.

Camkierhi wrote:I think I would try and magnetise, just for the added options, but I am not sure it is necessary. I am afraid I have never got my hands on one of these kits, but should be able to make it modular.

I was talking with some people on the Necromunda Terrain FB group, and as you point out they recommened to magnetize the walkways and ladders, but that the remainder should be pretty ok to leave unglued so long as the rest is stable. Will be interesting!

Looks like my family and I will be moving to California this summer, so at a certain point I am going to be on a bit of a hiatus... but looking forward to that Cali ocean breeze, lack of mosquitos and general safe assumption of disdain for the orange one lol. Will see how much I can pound out before then!

Terrain is my passion and the SM models are some of the best GW has ever released. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with your collection. That said, unpainted models pack and travel better than finished models, so maybe they will get primed later this summer in sunny CA? Either way, I'm staying subbed and will see your thread pop back up when you return.

Thanks dude, I appreciate that brother!

I will probably leave the terrain or too much work on it til later, but I intend to continue slamming out models for now. Basically this is the calm before the storm, Immigration interview in April 23rd, it's going to be a savage race after that, but for now I still have some free time

Yes the SM stuff is fantastic... I hope they make something more building like in the line, I know walkways and arches are more functional, but I think some more solid buildings to anchor the tables and set-ups could really work!

Best wishes and good luck with everything you have coming up. That will be some difference for you, in climate. Will be waiting for you.

In the meantime enjoying your wonderful work while we can.

As to buildings, I recommend waiting until after the move, but why not join us nutters who enjoy nothing better than scratching.

I love me some scratch building, and I have quite a massive selection of bits to start with. Trust me, usually I do things the hard way lol! And I love to have something unique. For this particular project though I am going for expediency and output, so Sector Mech stuff fits the bill pretty well... And, it is pretty damn good terrain.

Eventually, if I get really into it and end up actually playing, I will be adding buildings to the mix of SM stuff.

But the minis just keep coming... Those Van Saars.... sha-wing!

But they speak Spanish in California, not French. You'll have to learn a new language.

Listen to Cam. Wait 'til things are settled before starting too deeply with the terrain. It would suck to have things damaged in the move. There are always minis to paint.

*Puts on shades* I'm half Spanish, I speak spanish too, all good

Yeah Terrain if anything will do the prep on the last few boxes and have it ready, may start magnetizing, though in no rush. Plus those Van Saars just went to priority #1!

Thanks guys, I will actually update sometime soon, enjoying the chat in the meantime

The new Van Saar models are amazing. I won't be picking any up soon but I imagine they will find their way into my collection at some point. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you'll do w/ them.

Cawdor however... no matter what I have going on at the time I'm picking those up immediately.

Dark... they are just begging for the ninja spec-ops treatment imho!

Seems like a lot of people had Cawdor as favorites... I am looking forward to seeing what they do too... and Delaque... to me Delaque looked a hell of a lot like GSC 4th gen hybrids to me, and they kinda did the whole goggles thing with orlock now... I am very curious what they are going to do with those, to me, they need a pretty big revamp. All the rest still stand up well as design paradigms (except maybe orlocks, I am not in love with the designs on those, though I don't hate them either), but the Delaque seem like they will need a big departure in all aspects but the trenchcoats.

I finished the cyberpooch except for basing, will start in on another mini later today, actual updates should happen this weekend sometime.

Thanks for looking as always guys!

Alrighty, 2 of the hired guns done, Cyber Mastiff done but for his base (not looking forward to glueing those paws). As always for this project, painting for nice gaming pieces, not competition/display.

Yolanda Skorn, obviously took a bit of inspiration from a certain character

Mad Dog Mono, went with the stock paint job for the most part, as I quite liked it as is.

Being honest, the Mastiff had a bit of rough casting around the head and in some other spots, I could have done a way better job with the paint but not without investing a silly amount of time... black fur and the level of detail in the sculpt just asking for pain lol - looks pretty good IRL but the iphone seems to put pretty pixelly borders between colors, so in pics not the greatest.

On to the hunchback and the Blanche mini, and the tiny old man enforcer lol
