I'm sure the arms are compatible, but the weapons go with the arms.

But building things that only work with the kit they came with is becoming the norm with GW. Don't want any super-evil parasitic third party groups being able to make bitz for GW's kits now do we?

Or even more monstrous - people splitting the kits on ebay so customers can choose to buy only the bitz they need, rather than whole boxes.

luchiban, another Q if you don't mind: is it possible to equip a model with both a Storm Shield and a DW Bolter, even if it has to be a Sergeant?

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

I think we got all excited for rules and pics of minis, I think we forgot to ask about the story. So what is the behind the story of Deathwatch vs Harlequins?

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Eldrad and the harlequins are attempting to awaken ynnead(sp?) by capturing a crystal moon of an imperial world and doing some ritual, Artemis and his team have shown up to stop them.

They're Harlequins. They have had a Codex for a while. What's there to learn?

As said, nothing special on the Eldar side.

Eldrad - same
Death Jester - same
Formation with two bikes (and only two) than can reroll failed jink saves.
Formation with all the models in the box: All models get FnP 6+, but Works always, even vs ID wounds. Eldard has EW in this formation.

That's doesn't sound bad especially if you can spam several of those 2x bike formations. But rerollable jink bikes with fnp aren't bad. And the extra fnp will help the troupe. But it will really be power mode if Eldrad get access to Harley psychic powers? If that doesn't work then this will just be an add on formation to a normal Harley codex formation with a shadowseer.

Question about the Black Shield:

The assembly instructions show him with two Power Swords. Does the Black Shield just have that weapon combo, or it's one of many possible combos?

the Death watch sprue is what I expected, but much less than I hoped. I was hoping for something more like the Black Templars sprue.

so if you get 2 terminator shoulder pads, and you already get one in the standard terminator box, then you have enough for a 5 man squad by buying 2 DW sprues and 1 box of terminators.

I imagine they will be on ebay soon enough.

I've got 3 of these reserved at my local store.

The real question for me is, what kind of Harlequin army can I build with 3 of these?

Suggestions?

To be honest with such limited amount of units you will probably use all of the harlequins in the box, a lot of people run their troupes in the transports or if you go full size squads take the heavy support option although it's not that great you need at least one for some of the better formations, just add shadowseers

Just make those 3 Shadowseers and add some Solitaires and those assault vehicles.

My wife is going for a 2k point Cegorach formation from the Codex. Buy 3 Shadowseers (or convert the Eldrads) and a Solitaire and voila!

25 pts for a Frag Cannon is a steal! Problem is that a kill team only comes with ONE of them. So looks like I will be figuring out a way to get 4 of them in a squad somehow.

EDIT: I am thinking I might do whatever their Decurion is called with a Watch Company(a couple Kill Teams, and a couple veteran squads), Venerable Dreadnought, and a Watch Captain. I am probably going to make a Terminator Squad, Vanguard Veteran Squad, and a Bike Squad. And I will probably get the Flyer as well. All in all, I probably won't spend a ton on this army. I will make probably use Squad Donatus in some form, probably by breaking up some of the members and making them part of some of my other Kill Teams. The Vanguard Veterans will see use, as will the White Scar Biker.

I am simultaneously happy and sad to hear that.

At least that's $120+ you can spend on more models.

One tiny question I had, maybe I somehow missed it while reading stuff earlier in the thread: can DW Vanguard vets take hand flamers? One of the DW:O guys (the Blood Angels one) has one is why I ask.

@H.B.M.C.: I think you've made the right decision. When the new DA codex dropped last year I went and bought the special edition one. It really isn't worth the vastly inflated price over the regular codex (although the metal objective tokens are really cool!).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

And these tokens are DW pads. At $150 I would have bought it. That's pretty expensive for a Codex, but I could justify it easily enough.

At nearly the same cost as the boxed game? No way...

Anyway, I've ordered 2 of the boxed game and the regular Codex.

I just wonder how long is that $200+ codex going to be valid for.

I am wondering the same thing. It isn't a difficult thing to solve if they can't (I will just cut off the hand flamer and glue a pistol in its place), but I would rather just keep it the way it is.

just worked out that there's £113 worth of 'quinns in the box + however much they price Eldrad at (current model is £12.50).
You could probably offload the DW & rule book for £50 easy meaning this is one fine value box.

I wonder how limited this release will be. I have a massive painting backlog so my plan was to wait until the end of the year and then buy my favourite 2106 release. This box set is currently at the top of the pile but it may have sold out by then.
