Okay i know one or two people are dusting off thier bike squads since they got a major point reduction which im glad about, i orderd 6 singles off of a ebay bulk seller. Now right now im fanboying how cheap a t6 biker is. Now im trying to figure out how to use them, Any suggestions? Sorry if this is a useless post.

No offense, but you could just ask in any of the hundred CSM discussion threads
However, the points reduction was exactly what they needed. Previously, I would load them up with Meltas and just have them hard charge into stuff and pew pew. They make a decent assault unit too, I think.

I say tool them for an alpha strike
no shooting weapons, just veterans of the long war and either MoK or MoS and icon of excess.
charge in with your huge charge range, get hammer of wrath hits, then a ton of either int5 or even more int4 attacks and hope to wipe whatever you charged before they can strike back. Automatically Appended Next Post: I really like the old raptor models, but the bike rules are just so much better. Time to put some wheels on them and change their base. with vets of the long war we are talking 21 pts to 19 points.....

I like as well
So far-
5 Nurgle bikers w/ fist champ, 2x melta
185
5 T6 models with meltaguns and a fist to hunt vehicles. Fast tough and a big threat to armor. Even as MEQ hunters with plasma and P.weap, I like the cost for what I get.
5 Slaaneshi bikers w/ Icon of excess
145
HoW+I5+ FNP makes these guys pretty good for that alpha strike exergy, but what melee weaps for the champ?
Twin claws are good vs meq, but 30p for it is pricey
Power fist loses the high I, so I don't want it too much- nor the power axe.
Power weapon is 15p less, so for another 15p you get to reroll wounds. It doesn't seem terribly worth it.
and 10p for a boon- worth it? It's hard to tell. 1/6 chance of nothing, but at least no spawn/princehood...
so either 160 for 5 Slaaneshi bikers with a power weap champ, or 175 for 5 with lightning claws on the champ. Thoughts?

I am thinking of taking a power weap champ. These guys arent going to be charging Teq or vehicles most likely and they should get their choice of what to charge. You will get into combat, have to challenge and probably get some 3+ save duffus that you want to kill for no reason other than to get your boon that might turn you into a DP.

Don't leave home without your melta bombs. Personally I would give them flamers, cheap and paired with their high In makes them great at sweeping infantry. MB are plenty for the occasional tank in 6th so I really see no point on melta guns on such a fast unit with a high rate of attacks, flamers are the way to go IMO. Nurgle bikes make a good tarpit but I think I like slannesh bikes more.

How about melta bombs for the AC? As I do not have the codex yet, I'm not sure if melta bombs are available..

Yeah, honestly I'm not entirely sure PFs are that viable in a Chaos army these days. Most of the models that can buy them have to challenge and unless you're running a 2+ save or a 4+ invuln, betting you'll survive is a bit of a gamble. I'd go with the regular power weap too.

But at the same time, this is a nurgle biker T6 means power weapons are wounding on 6+, a marine sarge with 3 attacks hits 1.5 times, so he's not going to bite it that often. Also with the alpha strike idea you'd be picking who you are chargeing- But you are right, I do recognize it is a gamble. To be honest though half the codex feels like its a gamble...

I cant really agree that the old 33p bikers were that good.
I remember the old Ravenwing bikers for 45p each, and now you can get a Chaos biker for just 20p!

Not always. In the 3.5th ed codex, Slaanesh Bikers were able to take sonic blasters for just 2 pts. This was awesome and not possible in the 4th ed codex.

I'm thinking slaanesh. T5 and FNP is a bit better than the mark of nurgle. Most stuff that ignores your armor save wounds you on a 2+ anyway, and then there is all the sniper and or dark eldar crap that always wounds on a 4+ no matter how tough you are.
Not to mention when they assault the slaanesh stuff gets to attack before most enemies. Reducing incoming attacks before they happen is a nice boon. Then you get that sweet feel no pain save on top of your armor save or turbo boost invulnerable!
I've got a whole heap of bikes painted up and might grab some more.

I was thinking the same thing. Everyone is so excited about +1 toughness so things don't get insta popped, but they are still 1 wound models(if I recall). Yeah it makes them harder to wound, but charge in with hammer of wrath, then make normal attacks at I5 then laugh as whatever is left tries to wound you back.
