Depends on the composition of the rest of the list. Demons have good anti-troop options with the (new ultra cheap) flamers of tzeentch, but getting decent anti tank can be a bit harder. Do grinders have 4 hull points or 3? Not that it seems to matter, in 6th vehicles seem to just violently explode the minute an ap1 or 2 weapon sniffs at them. Against most other weaponry the grinders guffaw, however. Guffaw, and chortle.

Our local Daemon player has made fairly heavy use of them in lower-point games (500 to 1500), but outside of that point bracket he generally prefers his flying Daemon Princes.
When he does bring them, he generally brings a pair and puts both in the same wave, then uses phelgm to blow things apart on arrival (and more often than not they have a few Tzeentchy units in the same wave to add additional firepower).

I dont think Iv used one in 6th at all. I hardly used them in 5th either way.
They can die in a single shot, whereas a Greater Daemon or Prince takes several.

they are great at low point games with 4 hullpoints and armor 13 they shrug off alot of firepower and will wade through almost anything if anything is a huge bullet magnet so the chariots of slannash can get into action.

I have yet to run one, but I want to put one in an allied force with my CSM to go with a defiler, forgefiend, and helldrake.

Soul Grinders are very strong this edition for a few reasons. The biggest threat to Daemon armies in general is small arms fire - which Grinders are immune to. They do have to worry about the occasional Meltagun - but they are more durable than most give them credit for. Mainly because with Turbo Boosting Screamers and the inability of tanks to tank shock and disembark troops in front of the grinder getting within 6" of them is very challenging.
I run them with Phlegm this edition because you can get multiple S8 vehicle hits and it forces opponents to spread out their army (along with Flamers). At 1850 I run 2 of them, I would consider taking a 3rd to go to 2k.
In tournament play at Da Boyz GT I ran 2 grinders over 7 games. I lost a single grinder in less than half the games and I never lost both of them. My record across those games was 4-2-1 and I played Mech Guard, Space Wolves, 3 Grey Knights, Tyranids, and CSM lists.
I actually posted an analysis of these up here

I've used my grinder in two games of 6th so far and I haven't found it as good as it was in 5th. In both games it was glanced to death pretty quickly. In 5th it often survived to the end of the game.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
