This is for all the people who wish they could just draw in the air. The uses for wargaming miniatures and terrain are AMAZING.

Interesting take on what is basically a hot glue gun. I am concerned about the lack of consistency I'm seeing in line thinkness and "pen" control.

This looks like a decent way to make the armature for a sculpt.

Or to decorate your dwelling with giant spider webs. Either way.

What a fun little tool! I don't see any immediate uses for it but like cryptek said, it's nice to know it is out there!

So they've basically just taken an extruded plastic 3D printer, and removed the CNC carriage. Clever, but the results look far to shaky to be useful as anything other than a novelty.

Looks pretty cool, considering it is a more professional hot glue gun

Actually I can imagine some things now - like drawing designs on flat building surfaces - alien patters, small pipes - things like that.

The 3d-stuff is kind of iffy.

This is the coolest thing ever.. but I have no idea what I'd use it for.. draw a cage around my dog when she's being bad? Draw a real mustache on the kids that fall asleep first at summer camp? Draw glasses on myself so people will think I'm smart?

And end up in hospital with the kid and your face as you have 3rd degree burns... it's molten plastic dude... FAQ says it can get as hot as 270Celsius.

For $75 this thing is really really cheap. $50 if you were an early bird contributor. Pen itself costs as much as 2kg of plastic wire for it.

I suffer from shaky hands so I guess I could make some shaky 3D art with this thing...

If by 3D Printer you mean a hot glue gun, then you are correct.

i hate to be a negative Nancy... but that looks like crap. I can't really think of a solid use for this that isn't better filled by something else.

No, I don't mean glue gun.

Many of the cheaper 3D printers on the market use a similar principle, with a spool of plastic 'thread' as their raw material.

Looks cool and sounds cool but i think its pretty limited.
Having said that, its cheap as chips, might be worth a go if you have a steady hand.
Id prefer a version that doesnt rely on me freehand drawing straight lines.

Hmm I'm not sure how good this would be without some cleaning up of the squiggly lines it seems to make

But a neat idea I guess

Unless they're working on making it less silly string shooter in which case it might be pretty good

So they're taking the main reason for using a 3D Printer (the accuracy), removing it and making the product far cheaper?

Not sure why everyone is dumping on this - it's neat, cheap and not at all meant to be used to create detailed 3d models.

You might as well be complaining that it's poor at making grilled cheese sandwiches.

yeah,
This could be great for lots of stuff that doesn't need detail or exact measurements.
Vines and other flora.
Tenticles! (I've seen enough henti to know where this is going!)
Eldar wraithbone and eldar rune designs.
Stain glass windows, trace the image onto thin clear plastic, then tint the segments.
