The Dwarf Wolf wrote:Hey guys... Im a little disapointed...

The Termies are the only box i really liked, they are awesome, and the price is very nice... Imagine what is possible with some AoBR termies? Its my own impression, or they give us 13 arms on that kit? and 5 copies of each CCW? Really nice! But they dont win Space Wolves termies yet ^^

PAGK by other side... Its not the models in it, its just i dont imagine me using only 5 of those guys in any squad, and for that price 10 guys is a lot... Perhaps, it is still possible to make 15 PAGK from one PAGK box + regular marines (and some greenstuff). Additionally, those box really add new conversions to the hobby.

About the dreadknight... The model is nice, have a nice style, the legs seens a bit odd, need some "refinement" (i think it is to tall). I like "Combat Suits" a lot, specially this Matrix/Avatar variant. But it dont sound Emperium of Mankind at all, it dont look Adeptus Mechanicus, or Space Marines, or Grey Knights... GW made Stormraven a brick with wings to keep the "general design" of space marines, now they tottaly ignore general design, and realease a model that looks awesome, but dont look 40k.

PAGK are the same price they were before, and people bought and fielded large units of them, no real change. More expensive than 10 tactical marines, but also with a lot of conversion bits in them. I was impressed with the number of bits in both boxes.

Dreadknight I like for the fact that it isn't a marine in a box driving a robot. We have a dreadnaught already. The DK is a different approach, and I like the distinction between the two. But he needs banners. I'd do them at the waist, backbanner, and from the arms, like an older titan model.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

The terminators and PA guys look sweet. I actually like the bolter clips on the side.

The Dreadnight is silly. The Hangover pictures with the baby are spot on.

I could make an acceptable Lord Draigo out of bits and bobs from the other boxes. $22 is too high.

There is nothing about the Dreadknight that is redeemable.

It is a terrible idea, terrible execution, and Matt Ward should be fired for this alone.

I thought Ward only did the codex/rules/fluff, not design and decide what all models will look like.

Not sure if it was posted here already, but some more rules tidbits and clarifications are hitting the interwebs:

•Nemesis Force Stave: Grants a 2+ invulnerable save versus close combat wounds.

•Brotherhood Banner: 25 points +1 attack to all models in the unit, and automatically pass force weapon pyschic tests.

You just have to think outside the box if you want to redeem it.

I agree with what HMBC said on page 15, pretty much completely.

I'm still a little out on the DK though. I think a lot of it is the pilot.

All the unhelmeted heads look like something out of a Monty Python skit set in Medieval Times. I love Monty, but I don't think using the Village Idiot as something to base a mini off of was a good idea. I'm waiting for Tim the Wizard to show up as an IC.

The clips, Oh God why, why do they look like that.

That being said, I will get at least 1 box of each PAGK/TGK to canalbalize for bits. I figure the TH/Staff/Apoth bits will end up costing as much as the boxes on places like The Warstore anyway.

True, I should have known better. Only thing I am not pleased with rules wise is the ease with which the expensive GKs can be killed in shooting but that is just a matter of taste.
Otherwise I think Ward did a good job, I always wanted more fluff on the GKs, overall its great. Sure some of it is cheesy but then again what´s new.
Show me a codex with no ridiculous fluff or over exaggerated background in it.

I think that by removing the knees and thighs of the Dreadknight, and just attaching the torso to the shins (Cotton Hill-style), the model would look a lot better. It will still be taller than a dreadnought, and the proportions would fit in more with Imperial tech.

You know, I like the idea that GW finally made a model with as Aliens-Powerlifter-vibe, but Demon-hunting Super Elite Space Marines really have to be worst possible choice for a model like that. Why not something for Guard or Orks?

Well, GW saved me some money here!

I was tempted to start a GK force, but the models just aren't doing 'it' for me.

However, I will be using the Codex as the basis of an excellent 'Counts As' army - can't wait to read more about the stuff we don't know enough about yet!

That's it. The dude would look perfect for the IG or Orks.

But GKs? The faction where everyone is a psychic and carries a Naginata? And kills daemons?

Even the squatty Dreadnought seems better at this point.

However, I have no clue how to reconcile the archaic nature of the GKs with
"cool tech that's not too cool."

Draigo doesn't really do it for me. Think I'm gonna keep using Rex, but as a stand in for him when I use Draigo.

Also, yay Terminator Apothecary bits! Will definitely find a way into my DW army.

Yeah, the open-front Dreadknight looks good 'Orkified'... A very fitting extension of their whole interest in being the biggest. Making a ridiculously huge robot body fits perfectly. For the Grey Knights, this seems like far too much of an overlap with the common Dreadnought, but worse due to being open-faced.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

I was hating Matt Ward before it was cool.

Honestly the Dreadknight doesn't look nearly as bad as people are making out and I think it's just an echo chamber effect.

YES! He will be mine and I will name him Ghazzy. Just need to add a pirate hat. He'll go great with my Stormraven Warkopta!

The PAGK are silly looking to me. Their chicken legs are spread too wide, shoulderpads too big, eyes and head too big. Its like they are caricatures of SM. I wonder if the odd proportions are another manifestation of photography fail? If so, they need to stop with the office admins taking the photos and have someone actually LOOK at the picture to see if it accurately reflects the subject before releasing....

The nice part... they're so generic that a squad can easily be filled out with normal SM painted silver. FW has an Inquisitorial etched brass, right? And who doesn't have a boatload of extra purity seals? There you go, random bling + AoBR marines = PAGK.

The dreadknight definitely has the proportions of Optimus Prime from those horrible Michael Bay movies...

However, one could make a fun themed army with this by using a dreadknight as Soundwave and the normal guys as his tapes.

It wouldn't even look good for the IG with how large it is.

If anything, it would look even more out of place.

Something like the Steel Tac-Arms from AT-43 or Incursion's APE Suits would fit far better for that.

Just stick sent legs on a dread, get some DK weapons as bits, and a larger base
cheaper and you have little to complain about.
