Probably because the Justicar would have options for something else and there's special weapons troopers, who've traditionally carried their weapons two-handed.

The idea is probably 1 sergeant with sword, 3 dudes with halberds and 1 guy with a heavy weapon. They've never really designed their kits for min-maxing but for what looks cool and sounds like what they think a balanced squad should have.

Of course since these kits are being used for everything it shouldn't be too hard to get what you want when you multiple boxes unless you are only using one type in some sort of all Psycannon themed list.

I just much prefer the naginata look to the swords, so when I saw
the preview pics with lots and lots of swords modeled, I panicked a
little bit.

I prefer the big 2 handers, so if it turns out to be a problem we can trade

Maybe if they released a pic of the dreadknight a day earlier while it was at carnival flashing its bewbs people would like it more. We all know from Maizinger that people love giant robots with boobie missiles. Just stick a barbie doll head on top and you've got a winner GW.

Almost certainly because there is only so much room on the frames...they've packed quite a few things on there, but obviously they've had to make cuts somewhere as adding an extra frame necessitates a higher cost for the box.

From the leaked codex it appears as though models in the unit can take either the sword or Halberd for the same cost so if GW was going to pick one over the other given that all the old metal Grey Knights already have the halberds, I think they probably decided to go with a complete saturation of the new weapon over the old.

Also, it looks like the Halberds on the Terminator sprue are also compatible, so if you buy a Terminator set and arm them with a different option besides the Halberds, then you'll have some left over for your standard squads as well.

I dont know about you guys, but I was really excited for this release and seeing these pictures are such a mood killer.

I was expecting things like running legs and alot more parchment.

The storm bolters + weapons just looks way to goofy.

I was expecting the grey knights to be a little bit like the new blood angel death company. Those are the best models ive ever seen.

Dont get me started on that dreadknight. Im all for something different, personally that just doesnt seem to "doomy" and more sort of "gundam wing" anime.

The terminators look absolutely fantastic, but its not enough.

Im not going to get back in with these models. Especially not for these australian price tags.

Funny I didn't think Megatron when I saw that picture, I thought of SINISTAR..."I'm Coming for you!"

Again, I must be with the extreme minority here for I love this model.

I love it too. Of course all three that I'll buy will be heavily modified (armoured upper legs, encased torso hiding the pilot entirely, knight titan/mech head, more ornamentations probably mostly to the back, weapons mounted further on the arms so the fists are free to grab stuff, battle damage) but if it wasn't for this kit none if it would be easy to pull off. It's a large enough model to make for a stunning centerpiece or theme your army around, and the 4+ invulnerable save in the rules allows us to go wild with conversions/posing the model and not care about cover save problems.

The GK models look a lot better in the army shots than in the individual squad pictures. They are painted wrong/bad whatever way you want to put it, and that's the largest problem in them. The magazines are naturally awful and the heads look a bit strange from some points of view on the PAGK but like I said it's mostly just the colour scheme and paint job that's causing the problems. They'll look better in my Black/Bone/White colours

For the dreadknight: Why don't you guys just pick up an IG vehicle sprue and add the blocky tread-armor to the arms and legs to "square it up"

it should look sufficiently grimdark afterwards

Thats all well and good. Great conversion idea!
If only something like extra armour plates were included in the box...?

Well I have a ton of them from the admech army, I'll post up pics when I try it out.
really though my original plan was to use them to cover up my always sloppy cutting job when I change his pose

Well, that's my career with Daemonhunters over.

I wasn't impressed by the PDF of the Codex, they've turned them into Space Angels Doom Hammer Nemesis Marines. They're the same as any other Chapter now.

Except the cool Terminator models now look naff and everyone is going to jump on the bandwagon. Well, they were fun for a while.

Still, I've got Orks and Tau to keep me happy!

The Dreadknight still looks like crap, but it now dawns upon me why the 'bare' heads look a bit different than we're used to.

Because they're not bare. They're wearing arming caps made to function as psychic hoods is what it looks like to me.

I've been waiting for this release since November when I got back into the hobby to decide what kind of army I am going to start up.

I had a pretty "meh" reaction to most of it.

The termies are my favorite. Incredible amount of details and options. The legs are a little spindly, and the heads a little boxy, though. As for the rest of the release, I am not amazed but there is still some fine work there.

Now to decide if its going to be Deathwing or GK.............

Hey guys... Im a little disapointed...

The Termies are the only box i really liked, they are awesome, and the price is very nice... Imagine what is possible with some AoBR termies? Its my own impression, or they give us 13 arms on that kit? and 5 copies of each CCW? Really nice! But they dont win Space Wolves termies yet ^^

PAGK by other side... Its not the models in it, its just i dont imagine me using only 5 of those guys in any squad, and for that price 10 guys is a lot... Perhaps, it is still possible to make 15 PAGK from one PAGK box + regular marines (and some greenstuff). Additionally, those box really add new conversions to the hobby.

About the dreadknight... The model is nice, have a nice style, the legs seens a bit odd, need some "refinement" (i think it is to tall). I like "Combat Suits" a lot, specially this Matrix/Avatar variant. But it dont sound Emperium of Mankind at all, it dont look Adeptus Mechanicus, or Space Marines, or Grey Knights... GW made Stormraven a brick with wings to keep the "general design" of space marines, now they tottaly ignore general design, and realease a model that looks awesome, but dont look 40k.

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...
My take on Demiurgs (enjoy the reading):

There is nothing about the Dreadknight that is redeemable.

It is a terrible idea, terrible execution, and Matt Ward should be fired for this alone.

Probably because the "Brotherhood" are going to be made from the plastic boxed set, just like Kabalite Warriors and Hekatrixes are for Dark Eldar.
