The new Grymn powered armour is now up for sale:

From here:

the suits are 27mm from base of foot to top of head (they are space dwarfs).

They look odd and primitive, but not in a good way. More like an early 80s attempt at miniatures.

Finally! Chubbymarines!

Not a fan of the headless look, but it makes sense that the operator is more protected without an obvious 'head'. It still looks odd without evoking the awesomeness of the typical Egg-Armor scifi aesthetic.

I really don't like the lack of any identifiable head features. I "get it", I just don't like this particular execution of it. Round it off just a little bit, put a couple of eye slits in there, it'd great. As-is, totally not sold, which is sad since I'm working on a Tau-SM army that would LOVE some clearly-different-from-the-others Grymn infantry.

Not really a fan of these. I wonder if the Power Fists would work on IG-sized models?

Ah! They even got battle-eggs out before Defiance. (I know, the size is probably different, but the visuals are striking)

I'll be rolling quietly on the floor, laughing.

I absolutely love the entire Grymn range, but for one thing- they are freaking TINY!

I bought enough of them to make a squad of counts-as Squats, and the normal Grymn troopers are pretty much the size of Ratling snipers. Their carbines are the size of GW autopistols. They almost seem more like 20mm humans than 28mm space-dwarves.

They look like Marine Crossed with Tau... Demiurge springs to mind which are supposed to be Space Dwarves who hang with the Tau.

Not bad... Possible Ork Tinboy use... Possible Ork/Tau Ally for me... Gotta think on it a bit.

If you don't like the look, give this link below a try.
It's assembled, painted models that look pretty darn good.

Almost like an armored human in a power suit that made you look like a hydrocephalic gorilla. It was in a book I read once...

Okay, painted they at least look more like they make sense as suits. Good replacements for the old Exo-suits, even if a little bit plain. Holy cow, though, with the bases you really CAN see how tiny those guys are.

I like them a lot. Fits with the style of the Grymn well enough.

Probably be picking up a couple of squads worth of these when I get the chance. Grymn are small though. Even suited up, these guys will be shorter than something like a 28mm human.

Now if we can convince him to sculpt a few more in Thorsten's style of armor...then I should have a complete Grymn army with all the trimmings.

They're average, and the detail isn't really there. They do look like 80s models.

Like a few people have said, they look more like chubby 15mm soldiers than dwarves.

I guess there's not many options for sci-fi dwarves, so having more options is good, but these figures really aren't all there.

Also, there's no torso with a bare head, or female torso. Also a standard bearer with a "dwarfy" symbol? Perhaps in time.

I guess I understand the "detail isn't there" position...at least in concept - but I don't really get it.

When I look at my car, there isn't detail for the sake of detail. It has handles where it needs them for function. It has panel lines where it needs them for construction. These have what they need - and anything more would start to look like details for the sake of details. Each there own and all of that though...

They are a bit like Dorvaks or SF3D models. Something that looks like it might be functional.

It would be nice though for one of the torsos to have the head cover up (either flipped up...or off entirely). Gives an bit of added modeling ability to them.

It just hasn't been cast up yet. I'll have a chat with Hasslefree to see if we can get a female one too.

The rest are 27mm tall to the top of their heads so they are shorter than a human.

These aren't Squats... they are Grymn and the plain style matches the standard troops... so it is horses for courses.

Why should there be a "female torso"? These things are huge, bulky exoskeleton type of battlesuits, I really have trouble imagining the shape of the person inside making any difference to the outward presentation of the suit. They aren't exactly skintight.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The same suit with a bare female head would be cool though... The Grymn have a good mix of male/female troops and I think the powered armour should be no exception... but there will always be people who want to see boobs on the front of armour... it is just the way it is.

Why do the greens look so much better than the finished thumbnails?

I have to wonder if the photography on those initial images isn't doing you guys a disservice.

Specular reflections from the shiny metal reduce the appearance of detail. It is the same thing as with Finecaste compared to the original metal models.

I like them, they have a nice 'clean' aesthetic, with plenty of space to add DWARFY or BOOB stuff, for those who wish to.

My one and only gripe with them, is they suffer from GW syndrome in handedness for weapons, I can understand, they're 'count-as' designed too, but mixing handedness while not hard conversion to do, would've been nice.

I think they're lovely! I for one am a fan of their 'headless' state. It'sa nice change, and I think considering they're little dwarfs, short of having a robotic head (ala Tau battlesuit) it'd look rediculously out of proportion. I'm sure Kev worked out proportions and realized they'd have to have giraffe necks for heads to poke out the top.

Yeah, but your car has a gascap cover hatch and things like that, just like the "new" plastic 1998 SMs came with the various vent hatches and things, and the new DV models came with all the DA iconography bits. I understand he can't do that becasue people might want them for a variety of things, but they look more like the Warzone models of the 90s than anything else - flat armor paneling everywhere. Maybe it's like exaggerated hands and weapons, we just "expect" to see it and it looks wrong if we don't.

Fair enough, but a little gender diversity couldn't hurt.

Why not? If GW insists on incorporating the ally rules in the core rulebook as a sly sales ploy, why not take advantage of it and use stuff that fits an army even if it's not GW? IG with a small squat ally contingent (Gryms as deathwing terminators and maybe the Mantic dwarf robot as a dread) sounds like a very cool idea.
