Oh yeah, the marine is nice as well. Where's that power fist from?

Hey Az! thanks mate we did indeed have a better time than we even expected to! the travel bug has bitten us both now! and the fist is from the Sternguard kit I believe and if not it's from the new Tac box

Theophony wrote:Congrats on the engagement dude. Glad you had a nice time in Hawaii. That's what it's like to live in a country where only sharks are out to eat you....unless the locals decide to toss you into the volcano as a sacrifice.

Theo it was funny as when I swam right out from the beach about a Kilometre or so all I could think about was sharks and the locals seemed to like me? maybe I wasn't quite right for sacrifice!

Gitsplitta wrote:Thanks for posting the pics of your vacation Nerdy. Never been to Hawaii myself so it was really fun to see. Again, congratulations to you both! Sternguard is looking good, don't forget to drill out that bolter barrel.

No probs Gits I hope you guys don't mind holiday snaps instead of models! I just wanted to share as we enjoyed it so much, it was honestly a beautiful place full of relaxed and happy people. you would like the laid back-ness of Waikiki and the combo of good food, warmth and an awesome beach (with Aussie sand i'm led to believe?)

whalemusic360 wrote:Forget the beaches, that burger looks so good. Good to see you back at it so quickly too. I feel like a BA vet, especially the sgt, needs more gold on him. Maybe his face mask, or his shoulder pads being gold instead of red?

lol Whaley the food was insanely good for me! I wanted to eat as 'American' as I could and went to Denny's had lots of burgers and fries and the Cheesecake Factory (3 times ) I have other holiday food pics I'll send you later dude glad you like the Sternie so far, trust me.......

inmygravenimage wrote:Grats damo. Turns out you liked it, so you put a (onion) ring on it

Thanks Graven! I did put an Onion ring on it! I was going to paint up a Rhino cupola as a ring but thought better of it. she may not have seen the funny side or even know what the hell I was doing lol

Dr H wrote:Congratulations to you and the future Lady Nerdwenchington.

Paint looks good. Look forward to more.

DrH my thanks to you, Lady Nerdwenchington is indeed happy and had the most relaxing time overseas which she sorely needed as she is kind of a workaholic! I keep her grounded

monkeytroll wrote:Congratulations dude! Glad a good time was had by family Nerd....

And only Damo would try to leave Hawaii a day early in an attempt to get back to painting

Ha Yep, a day early, while not a big deal in the end it certainly felt like we were stranded when we were told I did indeed want to paint but not THAT badly!

GiraffeX wrote:Congrats Nerdy thats one nice onion ring!

Hawaii looks really nice no idea why you would want to go back early, you must have really missed your brushes

Marine is looking good, as Git's pointed out don't forget to drill out the bolter, will you be going up another level on the gold?

Yo GFX! cheers man! it was a great trip with both of us getting rings we wanted she scored the diamond one and I scored the fried ones! Mmmmm mmm. don't tress on the Bolter, I like to drill all mine now and it shall be done. yeah I will indeed up the gold work, it's only the base coat

What are you saying Cam don't you find me attractive! well I never!....... Im totally....... BAH! ..........but yes I do indeed think Nerdwench is quite the stunner and still don't know how I managed to land that catch must be my personality a i'm hung like an Acorn on a beach.

Ramos it's nice not having to worry about drop bears, redbacks, snakes, huntsmen etc. so I could relax and not worry about a Bunyip stealing me! I had to start SOMETHING! so I figured if I quickly churn through the red armour as I know how to do it fast and then block in some colour so I could post an update and chat to you all again!

snrub, your concern is noted and I will indeed be locking myself in the Nerd Lair Tomorrow and painting the hell outta some Sternguard and priming some tans and dreads (got another.....yes, another Vindicator cleaned and built)

Gits we loved Halloween so much we are going back in 2016 to get married at the same time of year! and then we are going to dress up and enjoy the Halloween night life! I'm tossing up between Venom in a venom morphsuit and latex venom mask? or Deadpool in a Deadpool morphsuit and plastic weapons kit? while Nerdwench is gonna go Green and dress as her favorite character SHE-HULK!

Finished my first Sternguard guy! looking sharp (shooter) also primed my Dreads and Vindicators, the rescued one even after scrubbing and soaking is still a little thick in spots but hopefully I can still get it to look right

Yesterday we had our carpets cleaned and had to move furniture out and around so when I was putting it back I pinched a shelf Nerdwench usually has in a spot I don't like and now the Nerd Lair has all my books neatly organised with my other shelf with more room for models

Sternie first.

The primed goodies, DC Dread not finished s I had no black primer for his body!

Rescued Vindicator from Whaley

And here's my new shelf! I shall call him Shelfy.

Progress just a little insight into how I work through my mini's.

So, these guys are all primed red and then washed with Agrax right then I go ahead and do my first highlight with a watered down red. once that's done I can see the start of the blend and highlights so I continue by base coating all the other main areas like the robes and the areas that shall be gold with a brown/gold mix. once dry I then wash all the new coloured parts with Agrax again and they're ready for stage 2

I don't get it though guys? you all seem to really like my reds? and I won't argue I think they look good on the mini's but it's not a hard process. take the Sternguard above: Dragon red primer, a wash of Agrax and ONE highlight pass with Bloody red paint and that's it! :-) so really ANYONE can do that lol!

I then add orange/browns until i'm happy so maybe it's my pics that make them look so good? I dunno, I just don't want you to think i'm doing something magical when I am doing nothing really that i've seen you all do on your blogs! I'm certainly no Pyriel or Jah ......or RAFF........or Sigur........or ........ :-) maybe the next Nerdcademy will focus on Reds?...

Hey Zambro! I remember I might have bought stuff from you ages ago I suppose I should welcome you to the Nerd Lair! glad you like them! I love a good batch paint lol if I'm going to do the same thing for a bunch of models then I may as well do it on a whole bunch!

Thank you Styro! my reds are meh! red is a bitch to photo I have a darker area when I photograph them and use a bit of white card to hold in front of my flash at different distance until I get a good lighting reflected on the model.
