Carnifexes about 110-120 points each.
Tyrannofexes are 205 with Rupture Cannons (60 point drop!).
A 2xTL Brainleech Devourer, Wings, Psychic Mastery Level 2 Hive Tyrant is 230 points, 30 points cheaper than a ML1 Hive Tyrant equipped the same way. Crazy!
Trygon Prime is 230 points (10 point drop).

I hope that is true since all those options were pretty terrible in the current game system.. No reason tyrannofexrex should be that expensive.

Apparently it is! Gargoyles as Troops is huge, and the points drops to Carnifexes and Tyrannofexes are absolutely what was needed. I'm stunned that GW actually dropped their points that much, I just didn't expect that at all.

@Vhalyar, can you confirm that stuff I posted? If you can, can you also let us know who the Tyranids were facing in the battle report and how the game went? A lot to ask I know, so only bother if you get the time Cheers for any info!

EDIT: From Faeit

the codex comes with Warlord Traits, new bioartefacts, and new instinctive behavior charts.

The shield plates look like they just sit on the model. If you look, they overlap the carapace and hood section from the hive guard pictures.

So this gun ...

That said, I begin to really like the Haruspex. The compact body is how a big Tyranid monsters body should be, not like this underfed hyena style:

@Kroothawk - Apparently the Tyrannofex is the "most survivable" of the monsters, but yeah, if its stats aren't that great it likely won't be worth it to next to the Exocrine. Seriously, 6 S7 AP2 shots is crazy good for 170 points, especially with a large blast option that I assume must be at least S8 AP2 Ordnance (it has to be really good to give up the 6 S7 shots after all).

Crone is 155 points.
Harpy is 135 with the TL stranglers, 25 pts cheaper.
Venomthropes are 45, 10 pts cheaper.
Trygon Prime is 230, 10 pts cheaper.
Fex and Tfex I already mentioned, but due to biomorphs it's only an estimation.

e: Flyrant with double TL devs, wings and 2 powers is 230 pts. 30 pts cheaper than the same build right now.

Holy. gak. I'm now excited.

T'was Tau. As usual for the new format the army compositions were a bit weird, this time the theme was MC against MC with the Tau fielding more Riptides than allowed (or double FOC I guess).

I don't have the WD under my nose anymore, sorry, so I can't look up anything beyond all the notes I took yesterday night.

8000 points of XI Legion the Space Vagabonds, they can adapt their tactics to represent any and every Legion and Chapter as needed because they were created by the Emperor to be the ultimate tactical power. They have faked their disappearance in order to infiltrate every part of the conflicts in the galaxy.

8000 points of Tau/Craftworld Eldar/Necron because the Space Vagabonds can also emulate their wargear and tactics.

Victories: ALL
Losses: NONE (My armies have the psychic ability to conjure a cataclysmic storm whenever they are about to lose. This allows the Space Vagabonds to teleport away while releasing power waves that destroys the battlefield and so every battle is a victory)

Maybe the Tyranofex will be something like a precision anti-tank weapon/ gain the option for skyfire to make up for the fact that it is losing it's main role to the Exocrine?

Also, thanks for reminding me that I actually like the Tyranofex model.

A few thoughts of mine on the picture dump and rumors of the past day:

1.) All the new kits look great, something you can rarely say about a new release from GW. Good job!

2.) The rules are up in the air for a lot of key units, but seeing these point drops makes me hopeful that tyranids can fulfill the role of "swarm" army supported by Big Beasties.

3.) S7 AP2 large blast or 6 shots from the exocrine?? I'm not in love with the sculpt as much as the others but if those stats are true i'll definitely have to build one up. However for the tyrannofex to compete in the same slot he will need BS4, retain his S10 gun with at least 2 shots if not more, and his flamer will need to drop to AP3. Otherwise in every scenario i think you'd see the exocrine win the heavy slots.

4.) Cheaper trygon prime - that means cheaper trygons too (possibly). Add in the rumor that they're going to be allowed to run as HQ then I could totally see an all trygon/ravener/hormagaunt list being a fun way to play (though zero anti-air will hurt vs helldrakes and cron air).

5.) Swarmlord and Hive tyrant look like they will remain pinnacles of evolution and cc beatsticks. I would like my hive tyrants to have the stats available to go toe-to-toe with daemon princes and win. Syanpse effects, shadow in the warp, and biomorphs will all play big into this so we'll see.

Overall I'm super excited. Just 3 more weeks until i can preorder and then another week until i can start putting together these monsters! Hooray!

As a side note - We may have lost doom, parasite of mortrex, and spore pods (i'm not sure but it's how it looks) but it's not the end of the world. -- units like carnifexes could hopefully pay a points tax to gain the deep strike rule, thus giving them a "mycetic spore". If it's true that we get "Standard biomorphs", "Rare biomorphs" and "Unique biomorphs" it would be possible to build a tyranid prime, with wings, implant attack, rending claws, and a new Unique biomorph that would let them implant rippers. Boom, parasite of mortrex reborn. Zoanthropes might have access to psychic scream standard, which MIGHT be different than the current version, and nothing yet has 100% confirmed they can't still roll on the telepathy table to get psychic shriek and fulfill the same role as the doom of malan'tai (without the broken every shooting phase part of his rule).

This is going to be awesome!

Seems like GW were trying to make a point if they put Riptide-spam Tau against Tyranids! Cheers by the way mate! Do you know if Tyranids won by the way?

@Kroothawk The Exocrine looks like a big lumbering mobile artillery, while the Tyrannofex is a more agile bio-tank.

I also wonder if the Tyrannofex guns change rules as well.

Comparing the Tyrannofex body with that of the Exocrine, the latter looks much more survivable than the greyhound on stilts.

Any news on Spores, Doom and Parasite deleted? Or about those new or old Finecast releases mentioned by natfka?

I'm betting this is the case (changed guns), plus a stat boost. People always forget that aside from the Rupture Cannon the Tyrannofex has a max shooty range of 24", and a viable threat range of 12-20".

Gotta say I like all the new models except the tyrant guard. They look kinda goofy imo.

The exocrine harpy and hive crown are awesome though!

Seriously got myself considering a largely airborne nid army now, and I have never considered playing nids ever!

What it would do for army list building is just insane, and it is confirmed by the source of the 4chan photos as well. Crazy stuff! An all flying Tyranid list? Besides, Gargoyles themselves are already quite decent rules-wise. Staying the same and gaining scoring would be awesome. If they managed to drop a point as well.......well. Uhm. Game over!

The best part is if all that is true then it wouldn't be difficult to fit in a unit of warriors and a small troop of termagants to hold backfield objectives, while your flying beasts zoom towards the enemy front lines.

We can finally do the Anphelion Project justice! I'm intrigued to see IA4 get it's 2nd edition update.

No no no, this is what he said in reply to the "are gargs troops?" question: "No. They're on the page with Horma- adnd Termabugs, not in the Armylist section."

Which I can't comment on because I didn'T see that bit.

They waited for the Tau book to update Taros, and the SM book to do IA2 2nd Ed, so I can see Anphelion getting an update. Maybe wait a few months before IG are done as well and update the Elysians as well.

Ah ok fair enough, that was probably too much to expect I guess lol.

Quoting Learn2Eel from BoLS;

From the Tyranid Hive;

Psychic Powers:
Primaris: Dominion, blessing, +6" synapse range for the caster
Catalyst - FnP for caster and unit, and another unit in 12"
Paroxysm
the Horror - Broodlord have this power
Onslaught
5. Psychic Scream - 1 charge, nova 6", each target takes 2d6+2 minus its Ld wounds without covers and armors
6. Warp Blast - 2charges, witchfire, unchanged

Bounding Leap on Hormagaunts is explained there and it gives +3" Run.

Limiting Tyranids for codex-only powers is also NOT mentioned in the magazine,

Shadow in the Warp - not much about this, because it is useless against enemy in BatRep.
Which is Tau with 6 Riptides.

Old One Eye in the report is regenerating like crazy.©

Read more: http://thetyranidhive.proboards.com/...#ixzz2nB69pII9
Seems like the psychic powers did change a bit.
Seems like Tyranids might be able to take BRB powers after all? Would certainly be a big positive.
6 Riptides in the Tau list!? Jeez!
Old One Eye with a buff? We know Carnifexes dropped 40-50 points, we can probably expect Old One Eye to have dropped at least that much and gained a buff.

If you want to be really up to date you should go there and not try to find this stuff out from 2nd/3rd hand sources like what's currently being done - that's what's leading to all these confusions like gargoyle troops (they are 100% not).

It's like they just reused the same body design and added different arms!

Guy has gone to sleep now though. New pic of termagants shows tervigons still HQ, toxin/adrenal super overpriced, spinefists/spike rifle now free(!) upgrades which, whilst still bad, makes them at least usable now. Devilgants now 8 points each, not unexpected when they lack spores to drop in. I'm... cautiously optimistic. If nids keep biomancy, or synapse is buffed to give EW, these new cheapo MCs could really change the game. SitW is also barely mentioned apparently so I'd bet it's unchanged. It could swing the other way easily but... do we have our game changer codex at last?
