Hello again Dakkadakka
I thought it was about time for me to announce my new project.
I will be shelving my LotD Captain for now until I can work up a desire to paint again.
Without further ado, HERE IT IS
You were expecting more?
Well....
This is a P&M thread after all.
And a new thread to boot!
Okay I give
There is more and HERE IT IS!
The Sgt. looks quite happy about his new facelift.
Unfortunately he wont be able to cruise around and show it off at the moment, as much as I'm sure he would like, due to a severe lack of wheels.
Remember this random, misc. object? (Probably not)
Well it's here to solve our friend's wheel deficiency
Through the miracle of greenstuff technology and a personal innovative form of the pressmold theory I am able to replicate almost any object!!
Thats it for now folks
At the moment I am letting some GS cure a gap in the mold from the wire that I'd fed through the centre of the wheel.
After that I'll be doing a press of the mold and probably let that cure overnight.
I will only be making one side of the second wheel as only half will be exposed from under the bike. I will cut the wheel in half then fit the two faces back to back.
Please, if you have any questions, comments, or criticism drop me a comment.
Cheers

This guy should look amazing when he's done, especially if he's anything like your captain.
Just a thought though, without the front wheel it kind of looks like a mobility scooter. sorry

Okay, quick update time.
Here's where I'm at now.
The entire front of the bike is just improv. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, what I could be doing better, or what I shouldn't be doing.
Structural integrity is questionable at this point and all the pieces seem to have to be made to fit. That is, they're probably not the best match for one-another.
However, despite all this, I think it's coming along well so far
Alrighty, now that's outta the way, I've got the A's to your Q's

The head is the open-mouthed skull from the WHBF 5-man VC Skeleton Warriors box.
I also took a blade to it and 'enhanced' some of the details

Looks pretty good get a base on it and the front end should have no problem. As long as you don't plan on leaning on it.

Xend here, back with some sweet, juicy progress
I finally cobbled some handlebars together. The bits on the end are pieces that I cut from the inside of the handle, then decided to stick on the outside and the pieces I stuck in their place I can't even remember where I found
Actually most of the handlebars was a matter of cutting bits off then sticking them back on in a better position.
Anyway, I'm just glad it's out of the way...
I'm unsure of what to do about the wings on the back. I think they're chapter specific to DA but either way they don't really match with my LotD.
Right now I'm torn between cutting off the feathers and using the posts for something or just cutting it all off at the base of the posts.
Let me know what you reckon.
Cheers

Small, overdue update.
Nothing major here really as I've been helping to look after my partners younger siblings for the past week (Children... Bless my bones ) Nothing new here really just a couple of bits tacked on.
I cut off the wings from the headlight bit and am contemplating attaching it to the front tyre. While I'm not 100% on this idea it does give me a place to mount the twin-linked bolters. I've two iterations of this.
One using the original bolter pieces from the bike and Two using a couple of bolt pistols cut to fit.
Which one looks better?
If there's somewhere else on the bike you think the TL bolters would look better drop a comment
Still contemplating what to do with the back wings.
I've had bone wing suggested as well as flames. Both sound good but I've not thought of a way I would like to portray either of them.
I'm still open for ideas as far as that's concerned as at this stage I'm also considering simply cutting them off and replacing it with a simple support bar.
For those who desperately want to see bone wings/wings of fire; If I don't use either concept on this guy I'll use them on the other two bikers
Anyway, C&C welcome
Peace out

Been a bit since I've last updated.
I've had a lot of life come a long and smack me up-side the skull
Here is a picture of some rocks.
I've been living here for 6 months now and have only just now started plundering the driveway for basing materials (and there's more where that came from).
The cars going in and out grind the rocks down into various sizes and shapes including some nice flat stones for standing models on.
Anyway, here's what I scrapped together with the materials
In hindsight I should have taken a pic before sticking ol' mate and his bike down on the base however I'm sure you get the idea.
I'm shelving this dude for now while I work on converting the rest of the squad. Once they're all lookin' pretty I'll paint them all together.
On a non-bike related matter, here's something else I've been messing about with.
This is my first time building mechanical parts and joints but I'm pretty happy with the result.
I decided to attempt to create a reloading arm-thingy like the ML Marine in the new tactical marines kit. I was trying to keep it small and compact so it would not be mistaken for a Techmarine servo-arm I think, however, I failed in that regard and have instead created a Techmarine with a ML (not rule-savvy unfortunately).
I'm now considering giving that backpack to a future Techmarine and giving the reloading arm another crack however I have to say I'm rather fond of the look of this guy now
Anyways, let me know what you think and drop me some C&C
Peace

Progress progress progress...
Very little progress...
Here's the next Biker I'm working on as well as his completed base. I wish I'd taken the time to chip at the tombstone a bit more as for a ruined slab of stone it looks fairly intact.
I've also cut away part of the Plasma Gun and replaced it with a Melta. I left some of the PG as I liked how it made the Melta bigger and look different.
Next up for this guy is a Green Stuff makeover!
I'll be patching the Melta and Plasma guns together properly as well as fixing up the front wheel.
At the moment I'm not sure how to go about making the handlebar grips. Maybe bone handles like on my captain's sword?
I'm also struggling (once again) with what to do with the back end of the bike. I thought to load it up with pouches and packs but that's not really thematic with the LotD (could still look good though ).
I guess I'm happy with how the back of the Sgt's bike turned out but I want to avoid copy/pasting.
Hit me with some ideas if you have any. If not, get the out.
Peace

I was attempting to make it appear as though a skeleton torso had been impaled on a sort of spike/tow-bar but it's kinda 'meh' at this point

Thanks buddy What kind of conversions do you have planned?

I think we have a weiner *ahem* winner! I'm definitely gunna give something like this a go. I really like the chain edging.
It's also got me thinking about what I could do with the exhaust.

Updates, huzzah!!
Here's where I'm at with this guy,
as you can see there's still a little bit to do but I'm liking It so far.
Decided not to go with kitch's idea but that can wait for the 3rd bike conversion as I definitely want to use it.
I like the high seat I've made up but am unsure as of what to do on the back of it. at this stage I'll probably stick a supply bag on there but I'll keep scratching my skull for ideas.
Here's a line up of the three DV bikes, from mostly unconverted to almost completed
Peace out guys

One thing you could do with those wings, if you make more bikes, is us them to feather off of with green stuff, to make a giant tail of fire out of the exhaust pipes or something. Just my random thought, wish I'd found this P&M sooner!

Hey thanks man! I'm not sure what you mean by 'feather off' but the flameing exhaust sounds like a cool idea
Lucazi wrote:These are pretty amazing conversions. The sargeant reminds me of Ghost Rider only so much cooler!
Thanks, I honestly wasn't even thinking about Ghost Rider when I made this conversion but being a bike rider with a skull head and covered in chains it's hard to look past the similarities.
Anyway, here what I've whipped up on the back end of this bike.
I guess it's a sort of a skull shrine thing complimented by munitions.
Still a bit more GSing to go on it, just to sharpen a few details, particularly on the skull.
I've been fighting the temptation to stick some candles on these bikes as they're an element of my army that's fairly consistent (plus I think they look cool). Obviously they're not normal candles and stay alight despite being blown around during combat and general movement however I don't think they'd work well on bikes. I'd have to sculpt the flames practically horizontally and streaked out to represent the effects of the fast moving bike.
IDK It could possibly work...
Decided to slightly extend the exhaust pipes as well.
I'll be adding some additional detail to them before finally priming the model black

I meant just as sort of a solid plastic core to the flames, you could make the flames come off the winged portion of the piece. so basically just wrapping the whole thing in Green Stuff and make the flames go along the whole frame. So if you stuck the base in the pipe, the feathers point up to give you a core to work the flames off of in a massive gout of flame! I hope that makes sense now, sometimes my mind thinks of things it can't quite explain.
