Gosh those new weapons are awesome.

I think my guard army is gonna have some new turrets for their tanks! If only there was some AA type turret things.

I highly recommend the TTG rivets and all their products. They've been a life saver over the years. Not to mention if you buy them in bulk like I do you not only get free shipping but also a 20% discount

Can you recommend which sizes to get for 40K Marine stuff?

If you are doing SM power armor I'd recommend the 0.030 to 0.035 size, for SM vehicles 0.035 to 0.040, for IG vehicles 0.040 to 0.050.

Excellent - thank you for the advice!

As you're clearly the expert, it is much appreciated!

First off, happy holiday to everyone! I hope Santa Claws was generous with all his toys of war and that everyone is now itching to start a fight

Today I have a couple of updates which I hope will be the first of many this week. So here we go....

The Tank Dyno is now complete and in the process of getting the mold cast. I'm fairly happy how this turned out and it should be a nice addition not only to a tank but also as a terrain piece:

Now onto the next big project: The pre-Heresy Thousand Sons Falchion! As you can see there's still quite a bit of work to do but it's off to a good start. As many of you know I like to do more than just glue Space Marine bits onto a Baneblade kit (or a Shadowsword in this case) and call it a Fellblade.

Using a couple of drawing from the 80's as inspiration I completely redid the main chassis weapon mount into more of a pentagon shape that sits a little lower in the hull. Also instead of using the Shadowsword main cannon I took some pieces from the Pegasus Powerplant kit to come up with something more unique. I plan to make the barrel a little longer and thinner but an still pondering what end to use on it. The original art work has a dragon's head at the end of the volcano cannon but I don't think that look matches the rest of the tank. Any ideas?

Very impressive work on both the Dynamo and the (!!!) 1K Sons Fellblade!

What thickness of plasticard do you usually use? I've tried .060 card for a tank scratchbuild and it was a bit rough to work with and difficult to cut - I had to score-and-snap to get parts off.

Maybe a daemons head, or a screaming vulture's? It would fit the patron of the thousand suns.

No, spraying three colors on your minis does not count as painted! 5k+

Thanks!. The card stock I use is 0.060. It's thick enough to add strength but not too thick to cut. Althought I cheat a bit with my mini table saw

Ghiest1 wrote:Maybe a daemons head, or a screaming vulture's? It would fit the patron of the thousand suns.

That would eb quite appropraite for a chaos Thousand Sons Falchion but this one was when they were still loyal to the Emperor. In the end the customer made the decision for me.

Work on the Eye of Magnus continues. I cleaned up the hull, added the top, and began filling in the details. The volcano cannon is nearly done. I ended up doing a simpler tip to the cannon as it's what the customer wanted. Also I decided to go with a round side sponson as the lascannons weren't needed (the datasheet the customer is using does not include them). They be capped off with my Light Turrets with TL heavy bolters installed. I made a targetting array for the top of the hull but I'm not sure I like it. The object was to make it look like a cyclopean eye but I'm not sure this captures it.

Also finished were the side skirts complete with archaic runes (I found some angellic script that works quite nicely). The top one says "The Eye of Magnus" and the bottom "The Thousand Sons." Once the green stuff cures I'll carve in some detail to make them look a bit older.

The 'targetting array' looks alright, I think it captures the cyclopean eye thing, I feel the reason it looks out of place is its position.

Sticking out on top there doesn't fit with the lines of the rest of the tank. Maybe moving it to the top of the track casing on the left side?

Looking good though.

That targeting dealie looks like the R2 units rebel fighters put into their fighters in Star Wars.
I think it'd be better to use an angled shape there, to rhyme with the main turret and the sponsons.

Looking promising though.

Perhaps the issue with the targeter is that the armour doesn't go to the 'eye', meaning it's more of a camera or lense, and less an eyeball in-socket. I think if you built the armour around it up further, it'd start working.

Well it's been a long few days but now it's finished! (My part any way). So here it is in all its pre-Heresy Space Marine-y goodness:

And some close-ups (Yeah I know, the scarabs are missing legs. They'll have to be painted on ):

So now it's off to the customer for paint. Hopefully we can get some painted pics up soon

Amazing as always Mach... I am not a big fan of the 'runes' and feel it is not hugely TS looking, but who cares, magnificent skill on display. And really, this is only compared to some of your super characterful other fellblades.

I love the Dynamo's, and would happily use them for all kinds of things, from terrain to vehicles and maybe even a base! I would really love to see you apply your know how to strictly terrain buildings, you have such a great touch and there seems to always be a demand for new and not overly skully stuff lol.

Have you seen the Adepticon terrain contest btw?

Thanks MajorTom. Are you looking at this vehicle as a pre-Heresy or after they fell to Chaos? This tank is meant to represent the time when they were still loyal to the Emperor so there wouldn't be any chaotic bits yet, just the runes and legion symbols.

Yeah I'd like to get into some more terrain but given the limited amount of time I have to work on these projects I tend to pursue the ones that give me the most bang for the buck. Plus there are a lot of companies doing terrain so it's already somewhat of a crowded field.

I haven't heard of the Adepticon terrain contest but I'm leery of getting involved with them again. I spent a lot of time last year making terrain pieces for their 40K tables and as far as I know they were never used.

What exactly is that pintle-mounted contraption atop the hull behind the main cannon?

The bit immediately above? I believe it is meant to be a cyclops eye targeting sensor.

Just left positive feedback for the Krusher tracks that arrived the other day, and also ordered that Dynamo, it's going to make a great Objective Marker (seeing how I don't have any Super Heavies yet).

Your work is so completely amazing. I try to promote it as much as I can.

Thanks Skalk, I always appreciate the support and I can't wait to see what you do with those Krusher treads.

You've also given me a great idea on how to make the Tank Dynamo even better as a terrain piece....

Well done sir. Can't say I'm a fan of "fresh of the assembly line" style paint jobs on armored vehicles, but impressive regardless.
