Yeah, it is interesting...I haven't figured out the rest of it yet, but I knew I wanted an open-topped walker with this crazy dude at the controls
..And it will have at least one Vickers machine gun...somehow

Whata-lotta projects going on here.
Watch jems are usually made from rubies! But I suppose they are very very small so no great value. I seem to remember reading that they use them as bearings because they are so very hard-wearing.
The new walker driver looks swank. His levers are so very steam-train-esque.

i am totally hooked up on this idea mister! but one thing i have to point my ugly finger at...
the second pic...the one from behind... looks as if he is stiing on the throne... and having a nasty bum related accident ...  
i think a backrest to cover that up a bit would be good... i even have a nice idea to bring you more ease with GS... try the putty rivetmaking with granny grating idea to get a plush seat... i bet that would look awsome to the rest of your already good looking steampunk feel...!

That bum-accident is putty, filling in his butt-cheeks, because the sentinel pilot legs has no butt- you won't see it, so it really isn't worth worrying about. But I REALLY like your idea for the plush cushion..I will dwell on this!
I'm truly happy for whomever uses GS and finds it easy, I really am. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, that's quite probable actually, but I tried sculpting the top part of that hat 8 goddamn times!! I'd get it perfect, but then when I went to join it to the rim, it would smash and look like gak, so I added a piece of tubing, a solid material, with consistant properties, which I can control.

I was going to do something like that on the throtlle controls between his knees, but I decided some fine wooden knobs would better fit the steam feel. But he will be surrounded by gagues and few steam valves, maybe that'll fit in there somewhere.
I was thinking something like my Grandfather's Farmall tractor levers for his right hand.

Btw, if you leave the gs to go hard for 30-40 mins it becomes a lot more manageable. I generally work on organics straight away, anything inorganic i wait for it to harden slightly.
