Subject: Mini-Movie Reviews- What You Are Watching.... in Miniature
I think the other thing is that his films do well with casual viewers who are ultimately bigger than fandom viewers.
So basically yes he messes with the lore and backstory and such; but he gets bums in seats from the fans anyway and the non-fans as well. So with all those bums in seats comes money.
There is something to watching a movie where it's fun and it's apparent the people in it are having fun. That's what a Sandler film really is when he isn't trying to be dramatic. And personally, I'm here for them. They aren't masterpieces but they are an enjoyable way to spend 90-110 minutes

The dude can put together a strong performance when he is asked to.
I submit Uncut Gems and Punch Drunk Love and there is possibly more because the guy has made a metric ton of films.
If I was an actor, I would totally aspire to be Adam Sandler. The guy makes what he wants, when he wants, usually brings his friends along for the ride, usually has creative freedom and control, and uses his own production company. That's living the creative dream.

On the Surface of the Sun aka Florida in the Summer.
Uhhh.... ever seen a horror movie that sticks with you and you wish you could be like Ben Affleck in Paycheck and delete your memories of said film?
I watched Teeth. About a girl who has a pair of chompers... uh... down below.
She's not evil like the Vampire who tried to kill Ryan Reynolds (as Hannibal King) in Blade III (aka Blade Trinity - She also had some teeth ... down there.
She is a little bitey though... and limb loss insues.
Was the movie good? Kinda? Did I look at my movie watching partner and try to figure out what unholy film I was going to unleash upon her for choosing this? Yes.

Uwe Boll is a great guy though. I still love his boxing for charity. Where we learned that Movie Critics can't be bothered with cursory Google searches.

It’s very funny. See it with a crowd. There will be great reactions from a crowd.
Phenomena
The one they based all those Nintendo horror games on.
It’s another Argento! This one stars Jennifer Connelly, Donald Pleasance, a mutant, a crapton of bugs, and a chimpanzee
Spoiler:
out for vengeance with a straight razor.
. The soundtrack rocks, starring Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Andy’s Sex Game, and, of course, Goblin. Goblin’s Main Title (esp the 2nd half) feels like it inspired some of my favorite Nintendo game soundtracks.
It’s a weird slasher film about Jennifer Connelly’s bug-loving student sleepwalking into the path of a killer going after teenage girls. Goriness ensues. It all builds up to a climax that is not quite literally apegak.
If you want something original and very 80’s give it a try.
I’d say so. Our theater had a good sized crowd, which meant there was always someone the jokes landed with, and always a few people to gasp or groan or otherwise react at the most surprising or dirtiest jokes.

A short Elf’n’Safety flick from 1985, in which a Bandit Masked Spirit of Workplace and Industrial Accents invites us, the audience, to play “spot the elf’n’safety risk”.
The opening is attention grabbing, showing various building site accidents, with even a toddler getting squished (not graphically) by some bricks.
An interesting and pretty effective piece, if perhaps camp by today’s standards. And you can watch it on the BFI’s YouTube channel.
Brought to you by the Association Of Sweaty Arsed Builders.

The Mark of Lilith 1986
A zero budget but interesting if not competently portrayed concept movie.
In which a young black lesbian beings a relationship with a female vampire, centring on how society demonises people of colour, homosexuals and women.
It is very Right On, and as I said it’s not made especially well, being very hamfisted and bearing you round the head with the message. But it was sufficient to hold my interest and make me think about its subject. And given its nearly 40 years old and of course Sod All Budget, perhaps not to be judged too harshly.

Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?
That reminds me of an old training Vid for Customer Service that I saw that played like an old Hammer flick. The Bobbies arrive and pull a body out of a bog, and the inspector from "The Yard" has to solve who killed him. He interviews various service people he interacted with, in the parlor and concludes that they all played a part in killing him..... with bad service!
God, it was so good. I wish I recalled the name so I could find it on YouTube. I demanded we watched that thing at least 3 times in a two week training.

There’s definitely a charm to these things. Indeed, the BFI does a collection of them.
We were shown one at primary school about not mucking about on railways. Lad crossing the line to get to football loses his feet. Whilst he survives, a policeman turns up (either at the hospital or his home, I’ll see if I can find it) to give him his football boots back.
Being tiny maniacs, we genuinely expected to see his feet still in them.

That raises the question: did they just throw away his feet, or did they give him the chance to say goodbye to them, maybe bury them?
In OC, we had to watch lots of videos about beach safety, each and every one featuring some kid who broke his neck diving into the surf, who barely avoids begging for death while the camera’s rolling. And sometimes not avoiding it.
Then we had the video about saving the rainforest. What a classic.

I remember when I first started working in insurance. They were dealing with a massive claim, where some young idiot hired a super car for his birthday, tried showing off, and promptly ploughed through his guests.
Not all survived, and due to people suffering life changing, incurable injuries? A claim that’s gonna be paid out as long as those people are still with us.
Whilst intentionally shocking, that PSA does work. I mean, we tend to think of car accidents as exclusively occuring on the road. Maybe ending up parked in someone’s front room.
But something like that can, and does, happen. So let’s all just drive sensible, yeah? And there’s a very special hell for drink and drug drivers.

News on casting for the main antagonist of the 'Highlander' reboot, from Wrestling INC.
Dave Bautista's filmography continues to grow as he reportedly joins the cast of two new movies. Per Deadline, the former WWE Champion is closing in on deals for roles in "Highlander" and "Road House 2," both of which are being made under the Amazon MGM Studios banner.
In "Highlander," a reboot of the original 1986 fantasy film, Bautista will reportedly star as The Kurgan, an Immortal and a primary antagonist previously portrayed by Clancy Brown. Chad Stahelski is set to direct the film, with British actor Henry Cavill also slated as a cast member. United Artists' Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt will produce "Highlander" alongside Neal H. Moritz and 87Eleven Entertainment.

I must say. It's not like this franchise was ever so good or so great, but this movie? This movie impressed me. It's oddly hysterical on purpose in the best ways it could be! It's got a lot of charm of a horror/slasher about finding ever more inventive ways to kill people off. It's still not so good or so great but it really impressed me. This is a movie that knew what it was, what it was going to try to be, and hit all its marks and ended up being better than it had any right or need to be.
And another investment in Blu-Ray horror/thriller has been made.
Tremble at The Abominable Dr Phibes! Tremble a bit more when Dr Phibes Rises Again! Experience mild trepidation at The Black Torment! Feel slightly uncomfortable before Screamboat! Give friends and family cause for concern with Captain Kronos! Question your taste in movies with The House of Mortal Sin! Feel slightly flustered in the presence of House of the Long Shadow! Besmirch thy pantaloons with Trilogy of Terror 2*! Try not to fall sleep yet with Hell High!
Oh yes! Much to be seen, likely a fair amount of which will be laughed it in a good way.
*I do of course have the first, and will watch that before the sequel.

A cocky young American author bets his literary agent he can fart out a novel to rival Wuthering Heights in 24 hours. Literary Agent accepts, and the bet is £20,000.00
Author heads to a remote Welsh Manor House, where things are perhaps not as they seem. Or….is this just an attempt to derail his writing, and so lose him the bet?
Stars among other people Peter Cushing, John Carradine, Vincent Price and Christopher Lee. And shot on location at Rotherfield House.
Billed as a horror comedy, it’s more a light horror film. Elements of The Haunting, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the mystery is nicely spun out. And let’s face it, with this cast, you know you’re in for a good time. Especially when they’re given free rein to do what they do so well.
Seems it got middling reviews in the modern day, but I’m thoroughly enjoying this.
