Great models here Xanthos. The leader guy sounds very promising. And that shoulder cannon is looking very nice and techy.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with that nice collection of bits there mate. Particularly interested to see what you do with the dire avenger bit.

Allrighty then my hard rocking amigos. It´s update time.

Today, a better look at my Inquisitor.

I switched the IG legs for a set of marine legs, since I felt the greaves worked better with that look.

I´ve changed the look for his chest plate, but no biggerizing for him. I want him to be power armored, but not marine size.

I´ll probably make a biggerized marine at some point for this campaign, but for now I just wanted to see if I could take a suit of power armor, and move it away from the Marine look. So what´s the verdict? What can be changed, what is good as it is now, and what totally needs to go? Gimme that input people!

Oh yeah, and also, I haven´t found a head that´s to my liking yet, and he may get a cloak or cape.

Do you have some frontal close up of the chest piece? How are your greenstuff skills? Perhaps some ornate stuff and a big =][= on the armour!

My GS skills aren´t great, but I feel like I´m improving with the practice.

Here´s a shot of the chest piece. I´ve put a copy of the EC´s belt bit from the command squad box on there.

And a close-up of the greaves. They´ve been made from a GS mould I made. It´s my first time working with it, but I think it´s interesting.

Looking good so far man! If you need help with sculpting you might want to join this forum, it's a little place where a bunch of sculptors are let loose sort of speak. Little sculptors community!

Looking very cool, the only things I would say is that the book and the dire avenger plume could do with straightening up a little (might be the pics?) but the book looks like it could do with the hand being rotated to his right a little to make it sit horizontal, at the moment it kind of looks like its falling sideways out of his hand.

Otherwise nice stuff, like the psycannon very cool!

Oh, all this was just sticky tacked together to give an iea of where I´m going with the model.

I´m still working out some of the bits, may be changing one arm for an unarmored one, and may be going with a different haft for the power weapon.

Early days for this guy yet.

Have you thought about purchasing some of the forgeworld brass etch =I= logo's? They would fit easily on the armour and greaves and make life alot easier for you in terms of adding markings.

Think I'll get some of them when I come to my "good" =I=munda gang (eventually!)

Yup, I have indeed considered this.

As a matter of fact, I ordered a set of them together with some renegade weapons (easiest way to get auto weapons...), but the loot has not arrived yet :(

So I actually made a tiny =I= logo on his greaves, by hand. Took three tries to get even close.

Also, I´ve got some news on the cutter project. I´ve done some measuring and scaling on my original plans, and have found out that it would be 24cm wide, 90cm long, and 20cm tall.....

Needlessly to say, this is somewhat beyond what I am able to construct at the moment, so I´ll need to do some redesigning. <Sigh>

Well, I´m making progress tonight!

I´ve repositioned his hand, so he´s holding the book in a more logical way.

I´ve found a left shoulder pad for him.

I´ve positioned his pistol holster, and key.

And I´ve found a head for him!

It´s from a frame of barbarian heads that I found in my bits box. I think it fits.

I'm not sure I'm keen on the champion shoulder pad. Something more intricate would fit much more than the clean lines of that shoulder. If you can find something more in line with your greaves, you could tie the model together much more effectively.

Any reason you really want him to be holding the book? You might be able to get much more dynamic without it in the hand. maybe swinging the weapon across his chest akin to the Games day marine:



The book would look good swinging under the left arm in this case.

Ever since Migs =][=, I haven't felt the static poses of inquisitors really fit the bill!

Yeah, at first I was thinking it would fit, but the more I look at it, I get the feeling you´re right.

The book is more of a fluff item than anything else, and yes it could easily be on his belt.

As for the pose, I might well go with a twohanded pose. I´ll do some tests with spare arms.

The blade is held two handed, and the book is on the belt. It´s still the same right shoulderpad, but I´ve decided to mould a new one for him.

Also, I´m almost certain tha the needs a cape or cloak or some such.

Any thoughts on the look of this as opposed to the first look?

I need to do a few more tests later today, but this looks like it could work quite well indeed.

More progress today, I´ve changed the power weapon into a two handed sword. I´ve also made a right shoulder pad, and fitted his arms together in a better way.

I have pinned the sword, the arms, and the hands. I´ve also found room for his book, and his side arm on his belt.

Any thoughts? Does he need some sort of fancy tabard, or other stuff?

I think the swooping cloak comin in on his right side (models right!) could add that movement you're looking for.

I'd also suggest making sure the cannon is facing with the inquisitor.

How are you planning to base him?

Yeah. I´m working on improving the cannon mount at the moment... I need to find or make the right bit, that´s the main problem.

His base will be somewhat similar to the bases of the rest of the gang, metal deck plates, with rust and junk on them. I may throw in a vanquished foe, not sure yet.

looking pretty good so far, maybe some leather straps coming down from under his shoulder pad might fit in with the theme, i like the head too, looks cool, mr beardy inquisitor

Nice thought. I´ve been thinking of a way to tie the shoulderpads to the rest of his armor. The straps idea might be just the thing.

Let experimentation commence...

On a side note, I fixed the shoulder cannon mount, it looks much better now I think, and is able to change facings with the inquisitor.

Tomorrow will be cape and leather straps day!

Hey, thanks for the input. The two handed pose ended up being as much about "can I even do this?" as anything else.

I´ll most likely be keeping it, but I am toying with the idea of magnetized arms, if I can make it look good.

The first mould for the cape that I made today didn´t work, so I´ll be making a new one shortly. Hope that it goes better.

looks good, but are his arms a bit too long? something about the picture makes it seem so.

What about a power pack? I think that since he is not a marine, he should not have a large pack (and certainly not the same one), but he should have something to indicate that this is power armor and not carapace armor. Maybe something with tubes coming out of the top of the power hookup.

Nice progress.

I'm not to keen on the head - it's too similar to heads we see 90% of the time when people do the =I= from a Space Marine conversion. Something more interesting, with more personality and narrative and detail.

I would also still keep tackling the SM power armour problem and try and make it less apparent where the bits are from. Hide the belt buckle/make a new one/ reshape the foot armour etc.

Not too sure about a powerpack, but I do need to do something about his back. I was thinking of a modified cadian comm unit, antennas cut off and remodeled a bit, not sure though.

Hey Migs, long time no see. Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I know the head isn´t fantastic. It´s sort of a placeholder, Looking for better head´ness is taking more time than I had expected..

The belt buckle has actually been forgotten! I´ve got a plan to hide it, and had thrown those sketches out for some reason.

Do you think changing the foot armor would help?

As for the feet, he might just wear big leather boots with those armours added to the or more knight like armour.

I´ve been having serious trouble with his cape though. Threw out my second attempt yesterday, since it was too blocky and weird.

I´m having patience issues I think.. I want to be able to work faster than I actually can, with the grey stuff. :S

Hey hey, update time here, but it´s a short one. Had an accident this weekend and almost broke a finger, so no painting + modeling for some days now...

However, I´ve spoken with my brother, and he´s working on some rather interesting transport stuff, which I hope he´ll upload some time soon.

I´ve spent the time reading Eisenhorn (again again again...) and getting some designs for terrain finished. Some time late this week I´ll get back on the horse and do actual modeling. Till then... It´s movies and books only. :S
