Hope the finger gets well soon! However, in the meanwhile you could get inspired by books and movies. And...perhaps contemplate with others on potential rules and other ideas for =I=munda that doesn't require modelling and/or painting!

Curious to see what your brother will come up with! Is he building an =I=munda gang as well?

Malika2: I am indeed building a =I=munda gang myself.
Right now I am in fact trying to make my transportation.
I am doing something, I believe, not many have tried before, because of the much gs'ing.
I am still in the schematic-building-faze, but I think it's going to be grrrreat.

Update with pic's is sure to come soon.

Hey all. It´s been a while. I´ve had a bad run lately, school almost managed to kill me this semester, but I pulled through and now I have a semi-holiday till early January so yay!

Anyways, this means that I´ve gotten some painting done this week, most interestingly for this blog I´ve finished my sniper, and only need to finish the base for my mechanic.

I actually meant to have pics for your guys, but I have managed to forget the cable for my camera. Thusly I will need to run out and borrow a camera + cable. Pics should be up tonight.

Important thing is, though, that I´m back on the horse, and campaign gaming will commence next weekend. Woohoo!

Righto, got some piccies for you to see. These were taken with a different camera than i usually use, so please excuse if some are a bit dark.

I´ve gone for dark, muted colors on the sniper, now known as Maynaard, fitting with his role in the group. He is pretty much finished, though I may do a few more washes on various bits.

The mechanic is unnamed for now, but she is also nearing completion. For her coveralls, I went with a high-visibility orange, seeing as she isn´t really a first line fighter, more likely to be drawn into the fighting if things go pear shaped. Her base is still very WIP, but other than that she is mostly done.

Thoughts?

That sniper is looking better than I thought! I wasn't that excited about him originally but the new close ups are really cool, love the helmet/mask/tube you've given him!

The mechanic needs a few more details, such as the face and maybe some metallic bits on the belt and pockets/pouches.

I missed this blog...it was quiet on the =I=munda front. :(

A nice job on the sniper. The pics are muddling some of the detail of the full view shots, but you can make most of it out with the close ups. I really like that model overall.

As for the mechanic, grease smudges. Definitely.

Yeah, grease stains right were a person would wipe their hands. No rust on the wrench though. I kind of like it the way it is myself.

Good to see you back in painting action, I have similar hopes for myself and this weekend.

Pics aren't so good this time, but the sniper looks snipey and the base good, and definitely add oil stain etc. on the mechanic.

Maybe make her eyes open as well, I don;t know how difficult that is, but I guess it won't be easy to make her eyes look convincing.

Hey all, thanks a lot for the kind words.

@Malika2: I was a bit worried about the sniper myself, but now that he´s done I´m very happy with the way he turned out. As for the mechanic, some metallics might be the thing for her toolbelt, and eyes will be added, along with some more shading on the skin. (I also missed having the time to do hobby stuff, but on the other hand, 60+ page assignments need to be taken seriously...)

@Grey_Death: Thanks! As I mentioned, I´m very happy with the model myself. I´ll try and get better pics up when I get proper camera access again. At that point, I may even do some mini collages of each model, to showcase them a bit. Totally agree that the mechanic girl is way too clean. Need to dirty her up a bit.

@Orkistotle: Smudges and stains will be a´coming. As for the wrench I´ll probably leave it as is, thanks for the feedback.

@Migsula: Hey man! Good to hear that you´re hanging in there, was worried that I might be all alone in the Imunda camp now.. Yeah, I know the pics are letting me down, but I really wanted to show you guys what I´m working on at the moment.

And now for some more pictures! I´ve been doing some grey stuff work, working on the next guy for my gang. He was originally meant to be an ex-police kinda guy, arbites or enforcer or some such.
However, after fooling around with some kroot shoulder guards, I decided to make him somewhat different.

I´ve used one shoulder guard for the piece covering his throat, and extended that around his neck, so that it looks like a helmet could fit over it. I´ve given him some more armor on his legs, and shaped some chest armor for him.

He´s got armor on his arms as well, but I´ll have to show you those tomorrow or sunday possibly. With this amount of armor, I´ll count it as Carapace armor, and probalby call him a "Drop Troop" or "Void Born Security Enforcer" or some such.

I´m pretty happy with the GS work, though it is one of those areas in which I always feel like I want to do more than I can. And ooooooh, patience is hard..

Still to do on him: I´ll need to change his shoes, he´ll need steel capped boots if I´m gonna model this as a vacuum suit, and the join between his coat and trousers needs to be moulded so it looks as if he´s wearing a one piece suit.

Haven´t had this much fun with GS in alon time.
[Thumb - Void Born WIP.jpg]
The new guy. Void Born? Special Space Security?

[Thumb - Void Born Closeup 2.jpg]
Closeup. This close, the bumps and such are showing, but I intend to paint the suit old and battered, so I think I´ll be okay.

What kind of head are you going to give him? For some reason I think the idea of him having some sort of helmet ala the Arbites or perhaps a modified Chaos Warrior one might be very cool. It sort of gives this contrast between the female and male models in your gang, that you can see the faces of the girls while the guys have their faces hidden. Of course the pilot of the lander will be an exception but that doesn't really matter.

Don't worry about =I=munda being a bit more quiet, I'm trying to get some people from Warseer over here, check out the new Adeptus Mechanicus =I=munda blog over here by Anodyr!

@Malika2: I like your idea of having the faces of the males hidden, this guy will at least have the lower half concealed. I´m looking into giving him a helmet, but I´m not sure i´ll be able to find one that suits him.

Good job on spreading the news, I´m trying to get the othe guys in my group posting, but they´re a bit shy... One of the other guys has made an awesome sniper, with scout and cadian bits. I hope I´ll be able to persuade them.

I´ve been fiddling about with the camera, and it´s a bit better now, though it´s always hard to work with gear you´re not used to. Anyways, here are a few pics of him, with arms and head (the head is just to demonstrate the collar), so you can see where I´m going with all this.

The right arm is way too thin, but I´ll do some sculpting over that, to bulk it up. I´ll also use another hand, may give him a SM hand, or simply sculpt one. His feet will be bulked up a lot too, to make him fully armored, and ready to go into the black.

Thoughts?

Beef up the pointing arm and give the guy a helmet, not per se one that covers his face but maybe one in the style soldiers on Earth today have?

Loving the space suit guy - he's looking extremely good with the heavy plates and what-not, and the scout shotgun arm is perfect for his stance too. Is the thing hanging over his groin a kroot piece as well?

Also a big fan of your mechanic girl too. I need to see if I can find one of those I think...

Thanks Anodyr.

Yup, all the plates are kroot, except the small one over his belly, which is grey stuff.
I´m going out to grab a box of scous on monday, need another scout hand, possibly with a bolt pistol, for this guy.

The mechanic girl is such a great model! The chronoscope line is full of good models, I have 3 so far and there are several more that I need.

Update time! The Void Born (getting more used to calling him that now), is finished as far as sculpting goes. I think he came out wquite alright, I bulked up the feet, cleaned up the join between torso and legs, and redid the right arm completely. Oh, and various straps about the place.

I also gave him a backpack, and some kroot pulse charge thingies, which will count as grenades for him. The backpack is a cadian comm pack, with all the antennae cut off.

Piccies!

And even further also additional surplus mega double update: I´ve painted him tonight as well.

I went with whites for his armor, greyish brown for the suit, and green for straps and webbing. The whites started from bleached bone, working up to a final skull white highlight. Had fun with that.

He still needs some text and numbers on the armor, since his fluff will have him be a member of a naval boarding crew, sanctioned to the inquisitors command.

Oh, and he´s black.
[Thumb - Void Born Painted.jpg]
A full view. White armor, old and worn, but still badass!

[Thumb - Void Born Painted 2.jpg]
Second shot of him. As you can see, some scripture of sorts is needed.

[Thumb - VB Painted Side Shot.jpg]
Side shot. The kroot "grenades" are visible.

[Thumb - VB Closeup.jpg]
Closeup of the face. This camera is really letting me down, but the skin is three layers, plus wash.

[Thumb - VB Backpack.jpg]
And the backpack. It´s pretty much stock, just cut off all the antennae and lights and such.

Hmm, for some reason I always imagined Void Borns to be very pale, but black will do too.

Cool job on the armour, perhaps you want to put some parts of metal underneath, sort of showing that the paint is kind of going off the metal or something?

Do the numbers and letters in red with white lines, similar to some of the German WWII vehicles!

Yeah, I´ll be weathering the armor a bit, cause right now it looks way too shiny and new in that respect.

Red and white markings might do, Iwas thinking black and red actually, going for high visibility, but I´ll do some tests.

As for the skin color, I felt I sort of needed a token black guy, since we hardly EVER see any, and this guys number came up.

I may do another suited up guy, slightly different suit, and his skin will probably be very pale to contrast this dude.

Also, I may (no promises) try an enclosed helmet, with visor made from clear plastic for that guy. Just testing out stuff on these models is great fun.

Great warband so far! I have thought of using that Vostroyan sniper figure myself too, but so far I haven't needed a sniper figure. The mechanic is nice choise of a figure too.

I like the Void born a lot. Great use of all those Kroot bits. The Kroot sprue is a treasure trove of bits!

I like the heavy space suit the Void born is wearing. Very characterfull indeed. I might stea... erm, borrow... well, okay, steal this idea sometime in the future.

Keep on working on the figs and please persuade your buddies to post their figures too. More the merrier!

I have the results of the last chamber: You are a horrible person.
That's what it says: A horrible person...

Thanks a lot Hammer, glad you like ´em. The vostroyan sniper is a model that I´ve been waiting for an excuse to get, simply for the fun of painting such a cool model.

Yeah, the Kroot kit is one of the greats for conversion work.

If and when I make more space suit guys, I´ll make each slightly different, to show that these suits are likely to be old and worn, cobbled together from different patterns, and that they´re conserving the ones that are left as best they can.

Feel free to grab the idea. The more the merrier.

I still have some more models on the way, hoping that I can get to seven models by the end of this week, since we´ll be starting up the campaign on friday.

As far as getting shots of the other gangs, I´m still attempting to do so . I´ve managed to make them agree on at least full warband shots when they´re done.
