Salvage: Yea, I agree with you on the spike arms; they all look like they are in the end stages of a straight punch, which makes for a really awkward position. I am continually disappointed with Forge World goodies.
I see what you mean about the flagellant too. I keep oscillating between how I see various aspects of the army, and the kommandos in particular have swung between gangers, to traitor veterans, to gangers, and back quite a bit. I will probably end up putting some more rabbly looking fellows into the group, such as the wip burna 2 and Snikrot, to balance out the effect some, but for now they are unfortunately with priesty.
Speaking of overheats, one issue with that big unit of plasma is the "turn of 1s". Dan came up last weekend and the girls faced off against his Khorne lads. Plasma hops out of the rhino, empties 12 rounds of hot death into 8 or so berserkers and a lord, and proceed to deal 5 deaths, 2 of which were to themselves. I nearly ended up losing more points in acolytes and veteran guardsmen from my shooting than he lost zerkers! Madness.
Migs: Glad you like the bases. I can't take credit for all of them; about 2/3 are from Micro Art Studio's ruined factory set. Just the barrels and one or two others are my creation. I was pretty much out of spare vehicle and building parts, and since I wanted to try out some premade resin bases, I figured the cost of getting more spare bits about evened it out. The bases are very pretty, but a little awkward; there are very few planes on which to glue a model's feet that are shoulder width apart. It resulted in a lot of models with similar legs being positioned on similar bases in a very similar fashion. Combined with the limited set of FW renegade parts I was working with, I had to make a conscious effort to avoid having clone models.
All in all they are nice, but as my IG tank collection is starting to refresh my stock of spare bits, I probably won't be using them on a regular basis.

Ok, so it has been a while since I posted new pictures here. Ok... so it has been 5 months. But, now that the tank clad lapdogs of the Emperor have lost their hold a little on me, and due to the nascent =][=-munda campaign in which these lads will star, it is time to get back to the Lost and the Orky!
Ok first up, I did some more work on the tentacled battlewagon/nob launcher. Mostly some eyes and beefing up the tentacles a bit, but I also ripped off the beakie thing and put on what will be the support for the big friggen chaos icon.
Obviously I have a lot of smoothing to do on the face bit, as well as the tentacle crawling up the icon support. I also want to do some exhaust stacks out the back with some growth. And cram a big shoota on there somewhere...
One other issue is the icon itself. I have a devil of a time making those for some reason...
Next, the storm bitches!
As you can probably see, the problem with using these Dark Age harpies, cool as they are, is that there are only 3 sculpts, really two when you consider that 1 is a sgt that you get one of for 5 girls. So there are two twins and two sets of quintuplets. I am trying to make do by attaching different weapons and bits, but it is sort of slow going since the poses don't lend themselves to much alteration. Still, the wings are dead cool, and who doesn't like thigh high platform boots on their psychotic cultists?
Here's the remaining 4, awaiting some cutting, as well as Mistress Zagstruck awaiting her claws, proper Slaaneshi blade, some manner of daemony claw/shooter and some big old wings.
Finally, something with some paint. I got this guy about 70% done a bit ago and never got around to posting. He is still one of my favorite models in general, just the expression
With that, hopefully I can get back on a weekly/bi-curious posting schedule. FOR THE DARK GODS!

'Loken: The colors are actually pretty simple: Mecharite red, bolt gun metal, then a Devlan mud wash, highlighted back up with bolt gun and silver, and a touch of Carmine Red (Vallejo).
Dracomere: Those are WHFB ghouls with Pig Iron kolony rebel heads. The ghouls are around 20$ for 10 and the Pig Iron heads are around 5$ for 10.

Yep. Great pictures, great terrain, great conversions, great paintjobs, beautifull models. Very inspirational. If Im starting an all Nurgle Chaos Daemons army (likely) I'll soo use the Ghouls as a basis for Plaguebearers after seeing your models.

Salvage: Glad to see you can at least reach the keyboard from under the pile of books!
On chicks: Yea, I really love the models. That, and their very specific poses is making it difficult to want to cut them up too much. I am thinking that different tattoo patterns on their acres of bare skin will differentiate them enough from one another.
On chaos icons: the plan, after a few failed starts, one of which you can see behind the rokkit boy, is to have a 3x4" icon with two big banner/scrolls hanging from the left and right horizontal angle, with a guardsman crucified X style in the middle. I figure it will help tie the whole thing together with the loyalists, as well as give a nice rolling "Do not deny us! On your knees!" effect. I am secretly hoping that adding a little more slope to the back, as well as some painting of blood/flesh blots, along with the tentacles will help invoke the idea of the cuttlefish I was sort of going for. (Which I hadn't really realized I was going for until just now.)
Cilithan: Glad you enjoy it! The ghouls are really great models and very flexible for a lot of different applications. Getting a box or two just in case seems like a strong plan for just about anyone Many other people have done much better work with them than I have!
Sanchez: I have to credit my wife for the Storm Bitches moniker. I do think I am going to have to finish getting them chopped and primed tonight though. I am really excited to see them with some paint and ink! Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok just a quick update tonight since I didn't get much done before dinner and my night time meeting. I started putting some procreate on the girls to try and spice up the different models so that no two are exactly alike, even if REALLY similar. Here's a look.
GW really needs to come out with a sprue of boobs... it took me like an hour to get those two spare ones made, and I am too scared to add nips until it has 24 hours to cure :(
Also, shame on Salvage for not being available for my call in my half hour or so of need! You guys came REALLY close to dealing with grey stuff tentacle dongs on a girl or two, as Mr Can't Answer My Phone Because I Need To Study Instead of Talking About Modeling left me to my own sense of decorum while making the decision. I came really close to naming this "The Lost and the Futa"... :-P
Also, Mistress Zagstruck got a new right arm complete with daemon symbiote shoota! (The left arm is going to get a proper Slaaneshi sword in due time as well.)

"Moar Bewbs!" was going to be my suggestion for how to differentiate the chicks a bit more ...

Hilariously, I was in class leading a discussion on Freud and the death/life drives when my phone rang and blared out a snippet of "GET YOUR BODY BEAT!" by CombiChrist. If only I had known what you wanted to ask I would have put you on speaker

I quite like how emphatically she's busting somebody over the head with her scrap-on-a-stick, but yea, a slinky sword of slaaneshitude would probably work better. Nice gribble arm, but is her top in fact covered up? Lametasm, sir.

Salvage: That would have been great! "Ok now, class, today we have a special treat! My slightly deranged friend is going to discuss with us the various aesthetic design choices surrounding women with male genetalia, as well as various tentacled manifestations thereof, with a mind towards both the effect on the human psyche as well as general creative action!"
On the plus side, the various reactions to it might have made a good filter criteria for "Girls in the class I might want to date later."
As to secondary sexual characteristics, I might try and sculpt a few more, hoping that I have gotten the knack for it a bit... anyone have any suggestions on the process?
I started with two small spheres of ProCreate, and glued them to the model where the middle or so of each breast was supposed to be. I then put my sculpting tool, ever so gently, on ball in the middle of the upper third and pulled it to the ribcage just below the existing breast. The next 45 minutes were spent getting them even and spread left to right properly, as well as yelling at my cat, who, having multiple mammaries herself, apparently thought she had a lot to add to the process.
As to Zagstruck, she does actually have cloth straps over her jibblies, strange considering the rest of the model line. I suppose I could scrape them off and resmooth out the area, but they are pretty thick. My original thought was to just have the tail of the daemonic symbiote on her weapon poking at them a little just to suggest "dirty", but maybe removing them completely is the best bet.
Also, I am thinking less "delicate sword" and more "heavy Slaaneshi icon shaped saber". I might make some demos tonight and see what you think. Gotta do the claws on her feet too...

Wait, you're getting rid of her robo-feet? Cause they're pretty legit ... But I guess Zaggy does have power-feet or whatever, S8 not quite fitting those grippers she's got right now. On Ms. Z's tatas I was mostly giving a hard time, straps are acceptable - unfortunate, but acceptable. Making me wonder how to get more boobs in my chaos marine army. I do have 12 lovely Diaz demonettes, but that's feeling pretty conservative in comparison! Me and the lads have been talking about doing something crazy for our next fantasy army build up league, and the idea has been tossed around about doing a LOT of not-quite-brettonian brettonia armies. I've got some grisly demon knight ideas kicking around, and damsels would be a good candidate for boobtasm ... - Salvage

Scarab: Thanks man I have been struggling a bit with it, just because vehicles are always difficult to mod for me, and it is a lot of sculpting as opposed to the more PC spackling I call sculpting on models. It is good to hear the efforts are looking good to those more talented! (Or at least not revolting )
Salvage: Oh no, she will retain the robo feet, in fact that's one of the reasons I picked the model. I am just going to add some metal claws to them to make them look a little more like power klaws/angry feet. I am still a little disappointed about her clothing... I guess she took all the other girl's stuff and decided to wear it herself?
As to your chaos ladz, you ought to add a greater daemon or something similar. For maximum bewbz you could do it like siamese twins, two giant daemonette torsos with one set of legs. You can probably find a 54mm chick torso or something... somehere... Or possibly get a 54mm female dollie and sculpt your eyes out. I will see if I can track some down other than the reaper ones (which are fairly nice.) Automatically Appended Next Post: Edit: Bronze Age has some 54mm dollies that might work, as well as a pile of nekkid women. Apparently in their world, women can buy clothes or guns, BUT NOT BOTH!http://www.bronzeagemin.com/miniatures_html/25MM/GENERICS/Female%20generics/32Generic-females-1.htm

So, yea, it has been a really long time since I updated. Between my natural laziness and the long holiday rush, I just haven't gotten much gaming or painting in.
However, now I need to be studying for my GREs, which means I am VERY interested in getting other gak done!
So, most importantly, in Lost and the Orky world, I got some good games in the past couple of weeks, with one 2000 pointer with Boss Salvage over the past weekend. It was a great game, with a big bloody smash-up in the middle of the field over three objectives that ended in a draw. All my lads performed admirably, with two exceptions.
1) Zagstruck did jack. The storm bitches came in late, and drifted out of charge range on the DS. Next turn they got smashed down by a defiler they couldn't hurt because Zaggy only has a PK on the charge. Great...
2) Zog'Wort peaked early, turning Salvages one and only HQ, a mighty Tizz warlord into a little blue Squig, and then proceeding to accomplish nothing the rest of the game. So, while technically making his points back, he really underperformed as well.
Picture of Thousand Sons after finding out they have adopted a slavering beast (just before they threw him in front of a tank.)
Decision: Those two have got to go.
So pulling Zaggy in favor of a Nob with PK and Zoggy leaves me with ~160 points or so. After playing around, I decided that meant 10 points for Cybork on the boss, and a big mek with shokk attack gun and 12 ablative gretchin to sit with on an objective.
So, that decided, I feverishly got to work building them!
Mek in progress:
I am going for sort of a fallen mechanicus fellow, with hood and robe and mechy parts. Largely I am happy with him so far, but making the servo arm that connects his backpack to his gun has been a big pain. Otherwise he is coming along nicely I think.
And... CHAOS HOBBITS!
Just crypt ghoul heads on Gretchin bodies, but I like the effect. Unfortunately the gretchin box comes with 3 guys with molded on heads, so I cut down the ears and noses a little. It sort of looks iffy though, so I suspect I will be acquiring 3-5 more headless grots to mod up. I also am iffy about the giant revolvers... hopefully when painted they look a little better.
You can kind of see in the big picture the runt herd in the background. I am working on sort of a black leather S&M mask for him, which I figure fits his theme well. I almost went with a clown face, but that would just be too creepy.
Also, in storm bitch news, after slaving away practicing painting skin tones, I am about ready to take the plunge and rip into them. so, in two weeks or so, there will be bitches storming in full paint! (and not much else.)

Nice conversions! It's actually the second time I see such a combination of parts. I don't remeber who it was, but there's a guy posting here who put zombie heads on Gnoblar bodies to use them as ratling snipers in a traitor guard army. Though your concept is also pretty cool. I might steal that for my traitor guard army as a conscript unit.
The fallen mechanicus looks promising. I might steal that idea as well.

Teek: Thanks man. I am glad it turned out as well as it did. Super easy, and still has a fairly creepy asthetic. Those ghoul kits are so handy
The Good Green: Thanks! I really recommend trying something similar out with Chaos lads and traitor guard and the like. The army plays out so nicely, and is just a lot of fun in general. You can't do everything you could do with CSM or IG, but you can come really close in most cases, and CSM with 3 attacks and 2 wounds base is just awesome
