I'm betting that the Vendetta is a Valk with some metal bits to up-gun it. And it'll cost you $5 more.

Nope.
The Vendetta just has both sets of wing-mounted weapons.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c80/squirrelnation/AB/DSCF2122.jpg shows that the missile pods and hellstrikes are both on it.

That and GW isn't making hybrid kits an more and they're doing everything in their power to save shelfspace, not increase it. Releasing the same kit with a few metal add-ons is a relic of the old days.

With any luck FW will be ready with a whole host of weapon upgrades for this Valk kit on day one, or as close to day one as they can be.

They don't need to be.
They've already got them, since it keeps the same hardpoints it seems, the only difference is that the plastic rocket pods can swivel it seems.

We don't know if the two pieces will worth together. The fact that the rocket pod uses a completely different mounting (one capable of movement) tends to indicate that they're different.

I mean, I doubt it'll be difficult to do - hell you probably could just superglue the existing resin weapons to the wins without the mountings, you could probably even do it with the plastic Guard HWs as well - but it'd be nice to have actual ones there.

It'd also be nice for FW to have already made a conversion kit for the Vulture that uses the wings and part of the main hull from the Valk, preferably the engines as well, but maybe replaces the cockpit.

The problem is that it's not the cockpit that's different for the Vulture.
It's that the entire area behind it isn't the same.
I mean, if you could buy just the narrow-ish body for the Vulture?
You could, I'm fairly certain, build it using the Valkyrie kit.

But I'm willing to bet money that the existing resin weapons will work, since they come with their own mountings anyways.

And?

The resin Baneblade and plastic Baneblade are of different dimensions and have different aesthetics. I don't think anyone would mind a slight cosmetic change in order to get away from having too much resin.

Since I'm making a Krieg army the rest I can't really use. However, I really do like like all the new pieces, VERY nice.

Yep, and that's why I like 'em. I'll probably get a box (not for 40k, mind you, but they'll find a use).

The Valk looks well done, as do the command squads. Those coat legs are going to be in high demand. I look forward to seeing them in combo with cadian bodies and WW or Pig Iron heads. Not gonna get any of it, but it's nice to look at...

i see tons of conversion opportunities with the new command sprue. i've already got a nicely painted command squad but i can sure use the extra bits for the rumored advisors! also, halflings, big gun, hulk hogan arms, and mutton chops.... epic win! now if they'd only make a special character that allows you to field a rough rider army they'd have another $500 from me!

Word from Open Studio was that it is a conversion.

Nice to see the new Eldar jetbike, though. And the Ad Mech Baneblade was very nice!

The only question I need answered: How many Valkeries can I fit in a 2000 point army? As long as the rules aren't total suck, I'm building an IG air assault. I've never played IG in 20 years, but that model just sold me.

Hell yeah....

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

That Eldar jetbike has been floating around for several years now. There was some muttering that it was the prototype for the new Dark Eldar Reaver, but nothing's come of that either.

I do hope to see it for sale sometime relatively soon; the current jetbike model is ANCIENT.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

If they really do drop the guard down to $22 for a 12 guys including the heavy weapons then GW is actually dropping the cost by a significant amount for guard players. We used to get 20 guardsmen w/3 heavy weapon teams making for a total of 26 guardsmen for $70. Now we'll be getting 36 guardsmen including the heavy weapons for $66. That's 10 more guardsmen for $4 less dollars which is awesome!

Oh, and those pictures make me wanna cry!

Yeah, I know it's been around - it's just nice to see it re-surfacing. Wonder if it might see some play for Planetfall/Planetstrike/Planetstorm/Planetblade whatever GW's calling it.
