No kidding. Check this out:

There's only one type of model in this picture that they still sell, and it's a picture from a 1995 edition of White Dwarf. Everything else besides the Jetbike has been replaced with something else.

Hulksmash wrote:If they really do drop the guard down to $22 for a 12 guys including the heavy weapons then GW is actually dropping the cost by a significant amount for guard players. We used to get 20 guardsmen w/3 heavy weapon teams making for a total of 26 guardsmen for $70. Now we'll be getting 36 guardsmen including the heavy weapons for $66. That's 10 more guardsmen for $4 less dollars which is awesome!

Oh, and those pictures make me wanna cry!

The new box would be $22 for 10 guys including the heavy wep, so 30 guardsmen for $66 compared to at the moment which is 26 for $70. So the new box would be a better deal if we know that the box is indeed $22, and it comes with both sprues that the old heavy weapon team came with.

I was hoping the Vendetta would be a forthcoming Valkyrie-based Vulture kit, replacing the bulky troop compartment with a streamlined hull and more guns.

Oh, well.

Hmm... the thing about the most recent shots (showing the Fleet Commander, Ordnance Dude and Psychic Hoodie), they have lots of text next to them. Is this some sort of promotional display, or are we looking at an early article for the issue of WD due out when these guys are released.

Interestingly, although we can only see the extreme left of the text, two things seem to be clear:

1. GW has acknoweldge that the Doctrine system left a player with a lot of obvious choices, and heaps of stuff that you never used.
2. The 'Orders' people mention are in there, but from what little I can read into it, it's not just as simple as passing a leadership test (and nor should it be).

I could be completely, wrong, but that's my logical deduction based upon what we've been presented with.

Now the real question remains - we're getting 4 blisters. So far we've seen 5 new metal models, 6 if you count the Ratlings. Does this mean:

1. Commissar Lord, the Advisor Threesome, Ratlings, Primaris Psyker.
2. Commissar Lord, Primaris Psyker, Advisor Threesome, [Unknown] (Ratlings in small Gretchin-sized box).
3. Something completely different?

I do hope those three advisors come in a single blister. And I hope they come out SOON.

I'd bet (2). I really can't see GW doing a release without a special character.

I think its likely the three advisors will come together, it will allow GW to price these three rather unimposing sized models at something $20 and force players to buy all even if they only want one. I think they will all be worthwhile, so I would probably get all three either way, just don't think everyone necessarily will.

it looks like one pic on bell of lost souls (the one with the commissar lord) has a paragraph describing how the orders actually work but the picture is zoomed in on the model and crops out the text. what did the text say?

So, I'm gonna be buying....

2 valkyries
2 boxes of the new cadians
2 boxes of the cadian command squad
10 ratlings
And a bunch of characters & comissars.

I just ordered a new FW hellhound to make a squadron of 3, and I need 2 vanilla russes still for that squadron and possibly a 2nd basilisk.

Time to ask for a raise :(

Seeing that it has a sword and shield, I wouldn't be surprised if that is a new version of Commander Farsight.

From Bell of Lost Souls:-Valkyrie is a fast, skimmer armour 12/10/10 and has a special rule allowing "flyby deep striking" allowing the Valkyrie to continue moving whilst the troops deploy. The occupants must take a dangerous terrain test when they land to see if they are injured.
Why is it that Imperial Guard in the only army badass enough to jump out of a moving flyer???

I think it's less about bad ass and more about the trainers not caring about human life.
Eldar think every one of their lives are precious, while the guard think you're worth less than the basic kit they assign you.

Has there been any mention yet about the point value of the new Valkyrie?? Is it the same as FW?? Also does FW overcost it's vehicles or are they under cost?

Thanks,

Did everyone catch the notes below the advisor pics?

Master of Ordnance: calls down Str 9 Ordnanace
Astropath: something I can't read, and +1 to your reserve rolls
Fleet Officer: -1 to enemy reserve rolls

Assuming that they are not overpriced, these seem very characterful and fun to have

Can't wait to find out more about the "Issuing Orders" aspect of the new codex!

As for Sentinel weapons, I was sad to not see MultiMeltas :( Hopefully the "missile pod" will work similar to a Cyclone Launcher.

Thanks for the pics =) Those new Valkyries are damn tempting. I so wish they'd stop making ratlings hobbits though, I despise those hairy feet so much. They look good aside from the damn feet however. Though if we could buy only ratlings with boots I'd be quite tempted.

I personally like the new ratling sculpts and will buy a squad of them just to paint and enjoy and maybe field if the rules are good. But my wallet has already started hating me and my plans to buy at least like 2 of everything new.

PS. Holy crap I love the idea of IG jumping out the back of a moving Valk, that just screams diorama to me.

Is it just me or is the thought of the Valkyrie having side armor of only 10 a little sobering? I know they'll often get a 4+ cover save, but still, it sounds very fragile.

Yes! Those ratling are probably some of the best looking figs I have seen GW do in a while. Loads fo chracter there. They look alot like the Grimm that Kev White does, no wonder I like them so much. The Cadian command look great as well. Goint to have to buy a box or two of those. Not big on the look of the catachans, at least the commande box is an improvement. Good bit in all. Valk is a must have for sure. Really not a bad model in the bunch! Very exciting, now what to do with 120 Tallarens?
