I think it might just be a case of "Different kit is different". The Lost cycle by Abnett made a kinda interesting mention about the 41st Recon "ditching their standard sword-form bayonets for double edged fighting knives".

It's perfectly plausible. That's what happened with that great painting that was the box art for the original Space Marine game. Of course, in those pre-photoshop days the insignia were added to a transparent sheet laid overtop of the original painting.

If the old ones didn't look so appropriately fitting alongside Catachans, I'd offer to trade you four of the things for the new ones.

They really aren't all that new. They came out a year or two ago (maybe longer?) At any rate, they're available now, and no new Ogryn models have been shown.
Edit: Least I think they're not new. Have to go check now.
Edit edit: Checked the US store, yup, they're out now. $20 a blister US.

Personally I think the faces look a bit better and the giant grenade in that ones hand makes me think, since when are ogryns smart enough to throw grenades correctly?
If the new ratlings look that way, then they should be S3 T3 or something. Otherwise I think the rifles they have look a bit better.

That bayonet looks a lot like an M1917 (U.S./British WWI). It's pretty big (14" or so), although I think that picture might show something even longer.

Went to my local GW today. Saw their preview/customer info sheets. Didn't see these posted.
Valkyrie was printed as $50 but they crossed it off and wrote $58. Manager said that was correct.
Batallion boxes are $95 and include 20 Guardsmen, 3 heavy weapons teams, 1 sentinel, and 1 command squad.
Command squad's $22.

I have great difficulty believing that you need more advisors H.B.M.C. I am more than sure you have enough Guard of all stripes. The word you are looking for is want.
I agree on the ratlings, but then I wont have any ratlings of any edition. I actually still think them an improvement.
P.S. What happened to your customary 'BYE' suffix. You go on lurk mode and your standards drop. *tut*, *tut* I say.

I for one like the new Codex cover art. Rather than focusing on individual guardsmen in close focus, it shows a tightly packed Guardswarm, with only the odd officer with any personality and faceless masses of more behind, with outsized wunderwaffe and heavy equipment amongst the sea of uniforms.
The codex cover far better defines the scale and style of the Imperial Guard.
